An outdoor kitchen on the main bluestone terrace overlooking the yard and pool.
The clients of this project desired a cohesive landscape where neighborhood children could gather and play and adults could also congregate for large parties. A pool and paved drive court provide multiple areas for play while a raised terrace allows for supervision as well as separation. Although the circulation was driven by the needs of the children, it does not impose on the adult spaces. The landscape provides enjoyment for the whole family in a safe and beautiful environment.

This once unused bonus room was transformed into a wonderful new bedroom for a boy with lots of room to grow, play and have sleepovers. We took advantage of the attic space either side of the room by recessing the TV / storage area and also on the opposite side with the double desk unit. The room was separated by the sets of drawers that have custom headboards at the back of them, this helping with the great length of this room. Custom bookcase shelving was made for the window wall to also create not only depth but display as well. The clients as well as their son are enjoying the room!

In 2009, Visionscapes was proud to be part of the construction of the Rotary Flames house at the Alberta Children's Hospital. The project consisted of several expansive brick retaining walls, multiple seating areas, play areas, green space, an outdoor kitchen and an expansive adaptive learning and play area for kids and their families receiving end of life treatment at this special facility. This was one of those projects where it was easy to dig a little deeper, work a little harder and remember just how blessed we are each and every day!

Originally built in 1990 the Heady Lakehouse began as a 2,800SF family retreat and now encompasses over 5,635SF. It is located on a steep yet welcoming lot overlooking a cove on Lake Hartwell that pulls you in through retaining walls wrapped with White Brick into a courtyard laid with concrete pavers in an Ashlar Pattern. This whole home renovation allowed us the opportunity to completely enhance the exterior of the home with all new LP Smartside painted with Amherst Gray with trim to match the Quaker new bone white windows for a subtle contrast. You enter the home under a vaulted tongue and groove white washed ceiling facing an entry door surrounded by White brick.
Once inside you’re encompassed by an abundance of natural light flooding in from across the living area from the 9’ triple door with transom windows above. As you make your way into the living area the ceiling opens up to a coffered ceiling which plays off of the 42” fireplace that is situated perpendicular to the dining area. The open layout provides a view into the kitchen as well as the sunroom with floor to ceiling windows boasting panoramic views of the lake. Looking back you see the elegant touches to the kitchen with Quartzite tops, all brass hardware to match the lighting throughout, and a large 4’x8’ Santorini Blue painted island with turned legs to provide a note of color.
The owner’s suite is situated separate to one side of the home allowing a quiet retreat for the homeowners. Details such as the nickel gap accented bed wall, brass wall mounted bed-side lamps, and a large triple window complete the bedroom. Access to the study through the master bedroom further enhances the idea of a private space for the owners to work. It’s bathroom features clean white vanities with Quartz counter tops, brass hardware and fixtures, an obscure glass enclosed shower with natural light, and a separate toilet room.
The left side of the home received the largest addition which included a new over-sized 3 bay garage with a dog washing shower, a new side entry with stair to the upper and a new laundry room. Over these areas, the stair will lead you to two new guest suites featuring a Jack & Jill Bathroom and their own Lounging and Play Area.
The focal point for entertainment is the lower level which features a bar and seating area. Opposite the bar you walk out on the concrete pavers to a covered outdoor kitchen feature a 48” grill, Large Big Green Egg smoker, 30” Diameter Evo Flat-top Grill, and a sink all surrounded by granite countertops that sit atop a white brick base with stainless steel access doors. The kitchen overlooks a 60” gas fire pit that sits adjacent to a custom gunite eight sided hot tub with travertine coping that looks out to the lake. This elegant and timeless approach to this 5,000SF three level addition and renovation allowed the owner to add multiple sleeping and entertainment areas while rejuvenating a beautiful lake front lot with subtle contrasting colors.

This 1,000ft² recording and production studio, built in 2021 for producer couple Latifah Alattas and Lucas Morton, was designed as a fully custom creative environment that supports writing, mixing, and collaboration at the highest level. Both Latifah and Lucas are multi-instrumentalists, engineers, and mixers, and the studio reflects the full range of their workflows—visually inspiring, technically precise, and intuitive in every room.
The facility was built from the ground up with a strong emphasis on architectural acoustics and plug-and-play connectivity. The layout includes two Control Rooms, multiple isolation booths, and shared common spaces, all tied together with seamless audio integration. No matter where you are in the studio, routing, monitoring, and communication remain effortless and consistent.
Behind the aesthetic, the acoustic design is exceptionally robust. Six independent floating-floor systems support the suites, ensuring each room operates with minimal sound transmission. Tailored sound-reducing wall assemblies, full-lite doors, engineered window systems, and intentional treatment plans deliver clarity, isolation, and precision for tracking and mixing. Each space is mechanically decoupled, allowing multiple rooms to run simultaneously without compromise.
For monitoring, both Latifah and Lucas chose Genelec “The Ones” series monitors with GLM calibration to ensure accurate translation and consistency across the entire facility.
Natural light and a warm, welcoming aesthetic anchor the visual identity of the studio, reflecting the creative energy and personality of its owners. The result is a highly functional, beautifully crafted space where ideas can move freely and production can happen without limitations.

A charming Airbnb rental in the Toronto area. We wanted the design to be glamorous and welcoming - a place where guests feel they are most relaxed! Working within this client’s budget, we were able to design a beautiful and cohesive new look for the bedroom and living area. In the bedroom, we added new bedding with a play on pattern, stripes, and accents of gold. The art piece is a wonderful statement piece that was the inspiration to highlight some of the rich blues and subtle gold onto the bedding. The living room decor is warm & inviting with a play on contrast, texture, and pattern. Less is more here, with warm cream tones in the cushions and area rug which lightens up the space and creates harmony. The living room now meets the needs of these clients, with a sectional to seat multiple people and an arching floor lamp that adds great lighting.

The family wanted a rustic/Italian feel that still had an updated/modern look to it. They also wanted to keep with the traditional style of their home and décor. Tumbled travertine backsplash added a rustic feel to the kitchen, but we kept the design pretty clean and simple for a more timeless look. We added some Sonoma tantrum glass detail behind the cooktop and behind the built-ins for a pop of color that played off the granite. For the cabinetry, we used Dura Supreme. A black distressed island, and an ivory paint w/ espresso glaze on the perimeter. The creamy St. Cecilia countertops added warmth and pulled the white and black cabinetry together, and added plenty of extra seating. The charming oil rubbed bronze hardware and lighting fixtures really play nicely off the black island. The new medium toned oak hardwood flooring throughout the entire house gives it a very warm and inviting feel. The new layout provides them plenty of space for multiple cooks so they’re family can all relax and be together in the space.

This Victorian style home was beautifully designed from the interior to the exterior. Our clients were looking to update the outdoor space, not only was it not functional, but it did not complement their Victorian home.
Although we had a yearlong waiting list for design, our clients were patient and hired us for 3D design.
Many times, our clients already have all the components in place, such as a pool, outdoor kitchen, fireplace, pergola etc., but they just don’t feel right.
The most important feature of our client’s new space was not only the components, but to be able to have a space that would allow them to create a lifetime of memories. From a visual perspective their existing space seemed limited and confined. Our design team was able to see past this and expanded its space to its full potential which allowed us to create multiple destinations for relaxation, enjoyment and most importantly entertainment.
As we began the design process, we were able to take a closer look at the existing space and noticed many safety concerns and how the existing materials did not accentuate the home either.
At the completion of their 3D design, we were able to present new ideas and materials that would enhance the value of the home as well as help them visualize the new space created with multiple destinations.
Ivory travertine coping & decking was a must as was the Talavera blue highlighted tiles for the newly renovated pool. A new working spa and functional outdoor kitchen with bar were two spaces we are sure they would enjoy while spending time outdoors. We enlarged the existing covered patio to expand the seating area to include chaise lounges, a loveseat and chairs under the pergola shade accent.
Newest favorite additions are the gas firepit and cabin play fort which can be highly utilized year-round. Our clients say, “The adults love hanging out in the fort too!”
Nestled in the Historic District, our client’s home is now filled with plenty of space and great energy for family gatherings, parties, watching sports, graduations and so much more. Who knows, maybe a future wedding or two! Memories of a lifetime will be made here for years to come!
Architecture and lifestyle are always our focus when designing feel good and functional spaces for our clients!

Alice and Dave are on their 2nd home with TKS Design Group, having completed the remodel of a kitchen, primary bath and laundry/mudroom in their previous home. This new home is a bit different in that it is new construction. The house has beautiful space and light but they needed help making it feel like a home.
In the living room, Alice and Dave plan to host family at their home often and wanted a space that had plenty of comfy seating for conversation, but also an area to play games. So, our vision started with a search for luxurious but durable fabric along with multiple types of seating to bring the entire space together. Our light-filled living room is now warm and inviting to accommodate Alice and Dave’s weekend visitors.
The multiple types of seating chosen include a large sofa, two chairs, along with two occasional ottomans in both solids and patterns and all in easy to care for performance fabrics. Underneath, we layered a soft wool rug with cool tones that complimented both the warm tones of the wood floor and the cool tones of the fabric seating. A beautiful occasional table and a large cocktail table round out the space.
We took advantage of this room’s height by placing oversized artwork on the largest wall to create a place for your eyes to rest and to take advantage of the room’s scale. The TV was relocated to its current location over the fireplace, and a new light fixture scaled appropriately to the room’s ceiling height gives the space a more comfortable, approachable feel. Lastly, carefully chosen accessories including books, plants, and bowls complete this family’s new living space.

From Empty Yard to Outdoor Living
What started as a large, completely blank backyard became a thoughtfully designed outdoor living space where every area has a purpose — while still feeling open, relaxed, and connected.
We transformed the yard by creating distinct spaces for lounging, entertaining, gathering around the fire, dining, and play, all connected through a cohesive landscape design.
The sunken fire-pit lounge became a destination of its own, surrounded by built-in seating, warm integrated lighting, and beautiful material details. A generous lawn keeps the center of the yard open and green, while the children’s play area was intentionally incorporated into the overall design rather than feeling like an afterthought.
Along the perimeter, raised planters, bamboo screening, layered planting, custom benches, stepping-stone pathways, and landscape lighting soften the property and create privacy. The existing covered patio was transformed into a comfortable extension of the home — a place to sit, dine, relax, and enjoy the backyard year-round.
And once the sun goes down, the entire space takes on another personality. String lights, illuminated pathways, uplighting, and the glow of the fire create a warm atmosphere throughout the yard.
One empty yard. Multiple outdoor experiences. One cohesive design.
Designed to be beautiful — but more importantly, designed to be lived in.

A restaurant that has been around for more than 20 years, Rebecca's was given a fresh new look to enhance their romantic date night ambience by bringing in classy, tailored, and hip features. A smoky blue envelopes the whole interior and it accented with custom woodwork, adding dimension to the walls. The existing bench seat backs were reimagined with a luxurious and velvety chenille in a channel tuft pattern for a lofty aesthetic and all chairs were repainted in a charcoal, translating that smoky look from one area to another. On the main wall, we hung unique mirrors with brass detail to give the woodwork by Paradigm Custom Woodworks more meaning and to reflect light throughout the dim-lit space. Greenery is strategically placed in multiple spots for a fresh, organic vibe as it adds a pop of color, and the new drapery was installed to fuse into the design and carefully frame the windows and entry. The counter area features an installation utilizing their house wines as art.
In the private sector of the restaurant, a funky geometric woodwork accent wall is made to add dimension and play with a custom graffiti mural created by local and renowned artist, Sebastian Ferreira. To balance out the many textures in this room, Fine Arts Designs installed concrete-look commercial-grade wallcovering which sits behind a custom neon sign for social media moments.
Out in the patio dining area, we brought Cuban textures in with the use of black and white encaustic tile which play nicely with the new South American Walnut butcher block tabletops.

The project was a complete rear renovation involving a new swimming pool, patio areas, fireplace, outdoor kitchen, deck renovation, and surrounding landscape, and lighting.
The site was very challenging due to very steep slopes and a limited amount of land area to accomplish the overall goals of the project. Those were lawn areas for the kids to play as well as patio space for entertainment and a swimming pool. Due to county requirements, multiple infiltration trenches were needed to accommodate the Chesapeake Bay ordinances.

For a family who believes fitness is not only an essential part of life but also a fun opportunity for the whole family to connect, build and achieve greatness together there is nothing better than a custom designed obstacle course right in your back yard.
THEME
The theme of this half mile trail through the woods is evident in the fun, creative and all-inclusive obstacles hidden in the natural flow of the land around this amazing family home. The course was created with adults and children, advanced and beginner athletes, competitive and entertaining events all accounted for. Each of the 13 obstacles was designed to be challenging no matter the size, skill or ability of the athlete lucky enough to run the course.
FOCUS
The focus for this family was to create an outdoor adventure that could be an athletic, social and personal outlet for their entire family while maintaining the natural beauty of the landscape and without altering the sweeping views from the home. The large scale of the challenging obstacles is camouflaged within the landscape using the rolling hills and mature trees as a natural curtain in every season. The beauty of the course does not diminish the functional and demanding nature of the obstacles which are designed to focus on multiple strength, agility, and cardio fitness abilities and intensities.
STORAGE
The start of the trail includes a raised training area offering a dedicated space clear from the ground to place bags, mats and other equipment used during the run. A small all-terrain storage cart was provided for use with 6 yoga mats, 3 medicine balls of various weights, rings, sprinting cones, and a large digital timer to record laps.
GROWTH
The course was designed to provide an athletic and fun challenge for children, teens and adults no matter their experience or athletic prowess. This course offers competitive athletes a challenge and budding athletes an opportunity to experience and ignite their passion for physical activity. Initially the concept for the course was focused on the youngest of the family however as the design grew so did the obstacles and now it is a true family experience that will meet their adapting needs for years. Each obstacle is paired with an instructional sign directing the runners in proper use of the obstacle, adaptations for skill levels and tips on form. These signs are all customized for this course and are printed on metal to ensure they last for many years.
SAFETY
Safety is crucial for all physical activity and an obstacle course of this scale presents unique safety concerns. Children should always be supervised when participating in an adventure on the course however additional care was paid to details on the course to ensure everyone has a great time. All of the course obstacles have been created with pressure treated lumber that will withstand the seasonal poundings. All footer pilings that support obstacles have been placed into the ground between 3 to 4 feet (.9 to 1.2 meters) and each piling has 2 to 3 bags of concrete (totaling over 90 bags used throughout the course) ensuring stability of the structure and safety of the participants. Additionally, all obstacle lumber has been given rounded corners and sanded down offering less splintering and more time for everyone to enjoy the course.
This athletic and charismatic family strives to incorporate a healthy active lifestyle into their daily life and this obstacle course offers their family an opportunity to strengthen themselves and host some memorable and active events at their amazing home.
