Inspiration for an eclectic pool remodel in New York

The gabled cabana features an outdoor living space, fire table and water feature combination, enclosed bathroom, and a decorative cedar tongue-and-groove wall that houses a television. The pergolas on each side provide additional entertaining space. The custom swimming pool includes twin tanning ledges and a stacked stone raised spa with waterfall.

The transitional elements carry throughout this home inside and out: the square columns, clean structural design of both window and roof lines, and the sharp lines of the pool and patio. The Herringbone patterned bricks surround the rectangular pool and spa add just the right texture to this back yard retreat.

This project is an extraordinary example of successful synergy between architecture and landscape design. Every detail is brilliantly executed to compliment the estate in both aesthetic and function. The patio and pool paving is ORIJIN STONE's Laurel Sandstone Sawn Edge. Pool coping, spa surround, pool cover framing, wall caps and stair treads are ORIJIN STONE Hudson Sandstone. This Grapevine project was designed to damage a minimum amount of trees on a nice hillside. A raised wall was incorporated on the back of the pool that acts as a retaining wall to provide a flat spot for the pool. On the upper terrace above we built the cabana. Two inch sawcut Limestone was used for all the veneer to give a clean tailored look to the project. The spa was elevated and white precast coping was used along with the pool. A dark pattern concrete was used for the deck color to contrast. On the cabana we tried to match the existing house style, precast columns were used instead of typical stone columns. The cabana was done in pine and painted white instead of the typical cedar application. A comp roof was used. Built in bar & cabinets to recess existing grill carts were installed. A fire pit was placed to the side of the cabana at the pool level. A finger ledge was used on the raised wall to provide safety. Sheer rain was used on the project to provide a focal point - It provides more of a visual effect against the white Austin stone vs. a sheer descent. A vaulted ceiling was done in the cabana to match the existing home. Patio was capped in pattern concrete to match the new pool deck as well.

This Eclectic inspired home centers around the courtyard water feature. This feature was not designed to be subtle. Low profile focal points were required from views coming in all directions. The primary view from the entry provides a view down the center of Cannon jets and fire bowls over the vanishing edge. The reflective vanishing edge spa and led lights added to the visual accents. Floating steps connect the pool deck to the spa as well as floating pads cross the infinity two tiered basin. This allows minimal steps from cabana to porch terraces. The lower terrace captures the view as the water cascades down the copper spill edges. Pool barstools provide additional seating in the water adjacent to the cabana. Access was so difficult the pool shell was completed before the house foundation was started, The home changed owners at the framing stage and the selling point of this home was the courtyard water feature.
