MYKA interior design group provides the space planing, furnishings and finishing touches to complete your home. We also can incorporate your prized possessions, collections, and other owner provided art and furniture pieces into your residential design wherever possible. We strongly believe that both physically and psychologically, a well designed interior leads to a healthy lifestyle. Making spaces multi-functional and ergonomically comfortable are also important focuses in our designs.

Eichler X-100: A Nationally Recognized Architectural Landmark
The Eichler X-100 holds a rare distinction in residential real estate—it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing it as a property of exceptional architectural and cultural significance in the United States.
This designation places the X-100 among a select group of homes that have not only endured over time, but have helped define the evolution of modern living.
What the National Register Means
The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the nation’s most important historic resources—properties that embody significant contributions to architecture, history, and culture.
For the Eichler X-100, this recognition affirms:
Its role as a groundbreaking experimental prototype
Its importance within the broader movement of California Modernism
Its association with visionary figures like Joseph Eichler, A. Quincy Jones, and Frederick Emmons
It is not simply a well-designed home—it is a documented piece of architectural history.
A Rare Level of Integrity
One of the key factors in the X-100’s designation is its remarkable level of preservation. Over the decades, the home has been carefully maintained and thoughtfully updated to respect its original vision.
Important defining features remain intact, including:
The steel-frame structural system
The open, garden-centered floor plan
Skylights and natural light strategies
Signature material palette of steel, glass, and laminate
This continuity allows the home to be experienced today much as it was in 1956.
Preservation Without Limitation
A common misconception is that National Register status restricts ownership—but for private residences, this is not the case.
The designation:
Does not limit private ownership or resale
Does not impose federal restrictions on modifications (unless federal funding is involved)
May offer potential incentives or recognition for preservation efforts
Instead, it serves primarily as a recognition of significance, elevating the property’s status in both cultural and real estate contexts.
A Collector-Level Opportunity
For buyers, National Register status adds a layer of meaning that goes beyond square footage or location. It signals that the property is:
Architecturally important
Historically documented
Extremely rare within the marketplace
Homes like the Eichler X-100 are often viewed as “trophy properties”—assets that combine lifestyle, design, and long-term cultural value.
Stewardship of a Legacy
Owning a National Register home like the Eichler X-100 is not just about possession—it’s about participation in a larger story.
It means becoming part of a lineage of stewards who understand the importance of:
Preserving architectural intent
Respecting design integrity
Carrying forward a vision that helped shape modern living
The Significance Today
Nearly 70 years after its debut, the Eichler X-100 continues to stand as a symbol of innovation, optimism, and design excellence.
Its listing on the National Register of Historic Places ensures that its story is recognized—but its future will always depend on those who choose to own and care for it.

Here's what our client had to say about this project which is taken from our review page:
All Square has completed Phase 1 of an expected 3 phase whole house renovation of our lake home, and we are beyond thrilled with the results. We were demanding clients – my husband is an engineer by education and a program manager by profession, so he is very detailed, exacting and demanding. We solicited bids from 3 other general contractors before engaging All Square, but Micah Purvis won our confidence that he and his team could make our dream a reality. Micah is a master communicator, clear, detailed and pro-active in his approach to problems.
We were very happy with all the All Square employees who worked on our job – Daniel and Austin were great and a pleasure to have around – but most especially Justin Solomon, truly a jack of all trades. If there is something Justin can’t do or a skill he doesn’t possess, we aren’t aware of it. Justin was as reliable as the sun, here first thing every morning, troubleshooting problems, dealing with all the sub-contractors and making invaluable structural and design suggestions that made the finished product all the better. I honestly miss having Justin around and our dogs miss him too!
It is obvious that All Square has worked hard to identify and nurture relationships with quality tradesmen and a few of them really stand out for their superior work – Mike (stonemason), Jeremiah Cook (painter) and Michael Stewart (electrician).
When we are ready to begin Phase 2 of the renovation, there is no doubt that we will call Micah and All Square to do the work. We are so happy with our renovation and grateful that we made the right decision to entrust our forever home to All Square.

The homeowners undertook an extensive renovation to update and enhance their compact home. While one of the owners possesses culinary talents, the other is an avid gardener who enjoys preserving the harvests from their garden. Our design theme integrates the clients’ passions for traveling and fine food, incorporating treasured souvenirs and botanical finds. The design concept is transitional, reflecting a preference for clean modern accents but centers on the clients’ love of travel, particularly the charm and comfort of the European countryside and its quaint bistros. Working with Bruce Buffer was nothing shy of an absolutely incredible experience. He's such a kind soul first of all, but also one of the most interesting people I've ever had the opportunity to work with. His collectibles were endlessly intriguing. Sadly, when we first met his valued priced possessions were so cluttered on his shelves you couldn't even appreciate them. This job wasn't a huge makeover but it was so rewarding for us both when it was all done. It was a process of letting go from the beginning, sorting through what really had tangible and intangible value and then finding a way to display these special pieces in a way that he and everyone who walked into his home could appreciate. He loves the way he's able to tell the story behind each item now so effortlessly.
Oh, and we also discovered a balcony space he wasn't even using right outside his office door! Getting Bruce to buy into Turquoise outdoor furniture was the best! That space was as if we added a whole new room to his home and we never even went through construction!

Starting from a blank canvas with a completely empty shell, the Gonyea Transformations team transformed this spacious garage into a sleek, luxurious personal retreat. The garage now boasts ample space for our client to showcase their cars, as well as entertain friends in the loft with a full bar and lounge. Some stunning details include a beautiful cable railing that leads to the loft, a walnut accent wall that adds additional architectural interest and works as a privacy barrier and entertainment center, and a notable bar with diamond plate details, thoughtful lighting, and the clients’ own “Lamborghini” sign to create a cohesive look within the whole garage condo. Explore more of this unique space below.
About the AutoMotorPlex
The Medina AutoMotorPlex is a 160-unit garage condominium complex just off of Highway 55 and Arrowhead Drive. This unique concept provides an opportunity for car enthusiasts and like-minded individuals to own a private garage which they can personalize and showcase their collector cars or luxury vehicles. It also provides a unique community for people who share a passion for motorsports—or anything that has an engine—with hosted events throughout the year. With a variety of garage sizes within the AutoMotorPlex, the garage condos have one thing in common, they start out as empty shells, waiting for new owners to envision a space to showcase their prized possessions and entertain family, friends, and clients.

The original kitchen which lacked usable space and had scarce storage became a sophisticated open concept with a multitude of cabinets to store all of the home entertainer's prized possessions.

Greenington’s Currant leaning shelf is a great storage solution for small spaces. Simple and eye-catching, the Currant leaning shelf is available in both black walnut or caramelized finish. The leaning design balances against the wall, and is ready to showcase your books, decor, and prized possessions.

Another quick job here in Cheshire, this time in the town of Wilmslow. Much like Alderly Edge, where I recently completed another job, Wilmslow is an affluent area known for its upmarket lifestyle and as a popular option for residence amongst celebrities and famous figures. In fact it is currently, and has previously been, home to several Premier League footballers from the nearby clubs Manchester United and Manchester City.
This job was another case of where a tiled floor had lost its shine due to the sealer wearing away over time. In this instance, my client had a Travertine tiled floor in her kitchen that she wanted to me to restore back to looking at its best.
Travertine is a fantastic natural stone which possesses unique features that no other stone can offer. It offers a particularly distinctive design style, making it a popular choice both for commercial and residential use. Many homeowners use Travertine tiles for kitchen flooring, bathroom walls and floors and for external floors, such as patios.
The process of stripping off old sealer can be done effectively and relatively quickly without using a liquid stripper. The best method is to use a series of fine diamond encrusted burnishing pads, which is exactly what I did in this case. The burnishing pads are applied in sequence from coarse, medium, fine and superfine to remove the old sealer without damaging the Travertine and then re-polish to a lovely polished shine.
One the floor had been burnished, rinsed and dried; I proceeded to re-seal the floor with Tile Doctor Colour Grow. Colour Grow is particularly effective when to seal porous natural stone surfaces such as Travertine and Limestone, whether internal or external. This is because the product is specially formulated to penetrate deep into the pores of the stone, providing durable surface protection from within.
The other key benefit of Colour Grow is that it intensifies the colours within the stone, as you can from the photos. This adds additional character and flair to already impressive household features like this Travertine floor.
The finished results were exactly what my client had hoped for. It goes to show that with the right methods and know-how such a big difference can be made to the appearance of tiled floors. I was very happy to help.

This original 1940s master bathroom was well over due for this complete renovation and update of the space.
To execute our goals, we knew that the bathroom needed to possess a light color scheme. We also needed to remove the walls of the shower because it made the bathroom seem even smaller than it already was. We decided to make the shower as large as possible all while maintaining toilet clearance codes, as well as allowing for the shower door to properly operate. To further enhance the size of the space, the walls of the shower were made in all glass, and the shower walls were done in white subway tile.

If your looking for a home fireplace that gives off you the feel of an old cottage, this faux stone fireplace is right for you! This photo features Tuscan stone veneer on a fireplace that reaches the roof. Decorated with taxi derby and family possessions, this fireplace stone design proves warmth, style and texture to this large room.

This 100-year-old farmhouse underwent a complete head-to-toe renovation. Partnering with Home Star BC we painstakingly modernized the crumbling farmhouse while maintaining its original west coast charm. The only new addition to the home was the kitchen eating area, with its swinging dutch door, patterned cement tile and antique brass lighting fixture. The wood-clad walls throughout the home were made using the walls of the dilapidated barn on the property. Incorporating a classic equestrian aesthetic within each room while still keeping the spaces bright and livable was one of the projects many challenges. The Master bath - formerly a storage room - is the most modern of the home's spaces. Herringbone white-washed floors are partnered with elements such as brick, marble, limestone and reclaimed timber to create a truly eclectic, sun-filled oasis. The gilded crystal sputnik inspired fixture above the bath as well as the sky blue cabinet keep the room fresh and full of personality. Overall, the project proves that bolder, more colorful strokes allow a home to possess what so many others lack: a personality!

2101 Connecticut Avenue (c.1928), an 8-story brick and limestone Beaux Arts style building with spacious apartments, is said to have been “the finest apartment house to appear in Washington between the two World Wars.” (James M. Goode, Best Addresses, 1988.) As advertised for rent in 1928, the apartments were designed “to incorporate many details that would aid the residents in establishing a home atmosphere, one possessing charm and dignity usually found only in a private house… the character and tenancy (being) assured through careful selection of guests.” Home to Senators, Ambassadors, a Vice President and a Supreme Court Justice as well as numerous Washington socialites, the building still stands as one of the undisputed “best addresses” in Washington, DC.)
So well laid-out was this gracious 3,000 sf apartment that the basic floor plan remains unchanged from the original architect’s 1927 design. The organizing feature was, and continues to be, the grand “gallery” space in the center of the unit. Every room in the apartment can be accessed via the gallery, thus preserving it as the centerpiece of the “charm and dignity” which the original design intended. Programmatic modifications consisted of the addition of a small powder room off of the foyer, and the conversion of a corner “sun room” into a room for meditation and study. The apartment received a thorough updating of all systems, services and finishes, including a new kitchen and new bathrooms, several new built-in cabinetry units, and the consolidation of numerous small closets and passageways into more accessible and efficient storage spaces.

A reach-in closet - one of our specialties - works hard to store many of our most important possessions and with one of our custom closet organizers, you can double your storage.
Most reach-in closets start with a single hanging rod and shelf above it. Imagine adding multiple rods, custom-built trays, shelving, and cabinets that will utilize even the hard-to-reach areas behind the walls.
Your closet organizer system will have plenty of space for your shoes, accessories, laundry, and valuables.
Browse our gallery of custom closet organizers and start visualizing ideas for your closet, and let your designer know which ones appeal to you the most. Have fun and keep in mind – this is just the beginning of all the storage solutions and customization we have to offer.

Open shelf units can create a custom look, and provide space to display prized possessions, decorations, or for visible storage.

Kim Roberts, owner of Staging Beautifully, has a passion for creating beautiful spaces. From home staging to redecorating, Kim’s relaxed and friendly approach make even the most challenging project fun and enjoyable.
For those interested in refreshing their space, Staging Beautifully can assist a homeowner in decorating their home with the items they already own and love. Like staging, redesign may include color selection, rearranging furniture, hanging art and placing accessories. It is a cost effective design alternative which will give your home a facelift without the cost of an Interior Designer. Utilizing your furnishings and treasures, we will shop your home to find new and creative ways to display your family’s possessions. This will result in a complete interior transformation which will reflect your personality, style, comfort and functionality to your living space without having to buy anything.
Looking to sell your home, consider home staging to target a higher selling price. Home Staging aims to de-personalize your home and make it appealing to virtually all prospective buyers. The way you live in your home and the way you market your home are two very different things. Your home is competing with every other home on the market. A home that looks like it needs work or isn't move-in ready prompts buyers to low-ball their offers, or eliminate your home from consideration all together. Those homes that are staged to reflect current trends attract and appeal to more buyers, resulting in more offers, faster sales, and higher sale prices. Sometimes, an agent may even recommend your price be increased once your home is staged! A well-staged home can even start a bidding war with multiple offers!
