A farmhouse style was achieved in this new construction home by keeping the details clean and simple. Shaker style cabinets and square stair parts moldings set the backdrop for incorporating our clients’ love of Asian antiques. We had fun re-purposing the different pieces she already had: two were made into bathroom vanities; and the turquoise console became the star of the house, welcoming visitors as they walk through the front door.

Design: Jules Duffy Design; This kitchen was gutted to the studs and renovated TWICE after 2 burst pipe events! It's finally complete! With windows and doors on 3 sides, the kitchen is flooded with amazing light and beautiful breezes. The finishes were selected from a driftwood palate as a nod to the beach one block away, The limestone floor (beyond practical) dares all to find the sand traveling in on kids' feet. We needed a bridge to cross the dry creek bed, so I designed a version of a Japanese yatsuhashi, or zig zag, bridge. It is clad in concrete backer board. I wanted to simulate a granite mountain plateau with a boulder peak. The client purchased the concrete lantern which perfectly complements the entrance to this woodland garden. Photo by Jay Sifford

These homeowners told us they were so in love with some of the details in our Springbank Hill renovation that they wanted to see a couple of them in their own home - so we obliged! It was an honour to know that we nailed the design on the original so perfectly that another family would want to bring a similar version of it into their own home. In the kitchen, we knocked out the triangular island and the pantry to make way for a better layout with even more storage space for this young family. A fresh laundry room with ample cabinetry and a serene ensuite with a show-stopping black tub also brought a new look to what was once a dark and dated builder grade home.
