This home remodel was all about creating a modern oasis for easy entertaining and family life while accentuating the existing architecture of the home. It was critical to harmonize the kitchen with the remainder of the home and we achieved that by bringing a fresh and clean palette throughout the entry, living and kitchen areas. Every aspect of this design was thoughtfully curated in the best interest of the structure of the home and the desires of our clients.
We highlighted the negative wall space by adding a textured three dimensional tile to the entire back wall. To balance, we added an asymmetric lower bank of storage with open pockets for easy access. We blended a fine linen veneer that provides a soft contrast to the back wall cabinets and the island. For additional visual interest we added a grey wood veneer to complete the remainder of the space.
To continue the theme of harmony we needed to open up the divider wall between the living and kitchen, without removing it- as it was a critical structural shear wall. To problem solve, we mirrored the vaulted architecture of the kitchen in the opening to add consistency throughout the space.
The result: A crisp and contemporary aesthetic guests are sure to be WOW’d by.

This kitchen renovation began with the clients questioning whether an addition was needed to meet their wishlist. By carefully rethinking the layout, the design team showed that everything could be accomplished within the existing footprint, maximizing function, storage, and flow while keeping the home’s balance intact. Small but strategic moves, like borrowing a touch of space from the laundry room and resizing a dining room window, opened the door to a larger island, improved circulation, and better placement for the range and sink.
The result is a kitchen that feels expansive and beautifully composed. Thoughtful adjustments to the structure created just enough breathing room for a layout that now supports daily life. A natural marble braided mosaic backsplash, soft and organic in texture, carries gracefully to the ceiling as a focal point, complemented by classic subway tile on adjacent wall. Every detail was executed with craftsmanship in mind, from the refined cabinetry to the layered finishes that give the space its timeless character.
Blending problem-solving with design, this kitchen delivers everything the homeowners envisioned, a bright, functional centerpiece that enhances both everyday living and special occasions alike.

Cape Cod; Dennis, MA
This Cape Cod-style bathroom features a double vanity that blends classic design with functional elegance. The vanity itself is a prominent feature, with its clean, white cabinetry and polished hardware. It includes two separate sink areas, each with a white countertop and a mirror above. Between the two sinks, a central tower cabinet provides additional storage, featuring both a tall cabinet and a set of four drawers below it.
The lighting adds to the room's traditional aesthetic, with two elegant wall sconces placed between the mirrors. Each sconce has a white shade and a polished metal backplate, providing a warm and balanced light. The walls are finished with classic wainscoting, which adds texture and a coastal feel to the space.
On the left side of the vanity, a freestanding tub is visible, hinting at a larger, luxurious bathroom layout. On the right, a glass-paneled sliding door leads to what appears to be a shower, suggesting a well-organized and modern-functional space. The flooring is a light, natural stone tile, which complements the overall color palette and adds to the serene, spa-like atmosphere.

Four Seasons Room Addition in East Bloomington, IL. Client had an existing deck that we removed to build new structure.
Photos provided by Say Anything Photos in Bloomington IL.

Mitra then designed series of three square windows on the facing wall of the master bath that was strategically placed to capture the beautiful perennial and rocky gardens beyond; as though each window is an art frame that presents the view outside.
To the left of these windows, is a large and open tiled shower with a cantilevered tiled heated bench. The shower floor was raided with a slight pitch with a linear floor drain. The shower includes a suspended ‘rain shower head’ and handheld shower on the wall. To further define the shower area Mitra designed a multi-layered shower wall that is slightly projected into the room. The creation of this multi-layered tiled wall also functioned as a chase to house the plumbings for both the shower and to install the tank-less toilet that was at the other side of the shower. For additional continuity and flow of design, Mitra then created a wall to wall white floating soffit to better define the shower and all other areas in this room. This soffit was also created as a problem-solving solution to act as a chase for electrical work and recess lighting. - Photo credit: Susan Teare

We managed to squeeze in a lot in this tight space! Upper storage, small sink, and a narrow pull out on castors for laundry detergent etc. We made a shelf out of the leftover countertop material for the bench seat.
