This beautiful, lakeside, colonial located in Hopkinton, MA underwent one of the most beautiful siding transformations of the year using our GorillaPlank™ Siding System. Built in 1940, this lakeside home in Hopkinton, MA had old scalloped cedar shakes that had become old and worn out. The homeowners considered painting again, but did not want the costly expense of having to paint again, so they decided it was time to renovate and modernize their living space with a low-maintenance siding that closely resembled the appearance of wood. Everlast Composite Siding was the siding of choice using our GorillaPlank™ Siding System. Before installing the GorillaPlank™ Siding System, our expert team of installers went to work by stripping down the existing cedar shingles and clapboards down to the sheathing. After verifying the underlying condition of the sheathing, our team went ahead and set staging to protect the beautiful metal roofs, then proceeded to install the moisture barrier to protect the sheathing, and then installed insulation for added protection and comfort. Their house is now featuring Everlast Composite Siding in the 7” exposure of one of the newest colors, Blue Spruce!

This customer, who lives in East Byfleet had been experiencing difficulties in keeping her fantastic Travertine tiled kitchen floor in good condition. Over the years it had suffered from a heavy build up of dirt and oily stains, not to mentioned a number of cracks and small holes. Needless to say, the customer was keen to restore the Travertine tiles to their former glory. To begin the restoration, I applied Tile Doctor Remove and Go across the entirety of the large tiled area. This heavy duty remover breaks down any old sealers and other coatings, leaving the area ready to cleaned or, in this case, burnished. Burnishing is a method for cleaning and polishing certain types of high-end stone, including Travertine, Marble, and Limestone. Our burnishing system involves the application of four diamond encrusted pads of varying grits. Firstly, I applied the Coarse grit pad, which helps to break down any dirt and stains on the surface of the tiles. Then, I worked my way through the Medium, Fine, and Very Fine pads, using a little water as lubricant, to gradually refine the polish on the Travertine. It was then rinsed and left to dry. To round off the first day of work, I filled any cracks and holes using our two-part resin system which greatly improved the look of the tile. The following day I returned to the property to seal the tiles checking first that the floor had dried. All was well so I proceeded to seal the floor using our colour intensifying impregnating sealer Tile Doctor Colour Grow. Once that was dry, I added the finishing touches by buffing the floor with a soft white buffing pad. As you can see from the photographs, the combination of a fresh seal and polish worked wonders. We did such a good job with the floor that the customer asked if we could also improve the appearance of their natural stone fireplace which was suffering from bad rust and oil stains however I do a separate write up on that. Home and Living Examiner said: Modern renovation by J Design Group is stunning J Design Group, an expert in luxury design, completed a new project in Tamarac, Florida, which involved the total interior remodeling of this home. We were so intrigued by the photos and design ideas, we decided to talk to J Design Group CEO, Jennifer Corredor. The concept behind the redesign was inspired by the client’s relocation. Andrea Campbell: How did you get a feel for the client's aesthetic? Jennifer Corredor: After a one-on-one with the Client, I could get a real sense of her aesthetics for this home and the type of furnishings she gravitated towards. The redesign included a total interior remodeling of the client's home. All of this was done with the client's personal style in mind. Certain walls were removed to maximize the openness of the area and bathrooms were also demolished and reconstructed for a new layout. This included removing the old tiles and replacing with white 40” x 40” glass tiles for the main open living area which optimized the space immediately. Bedroom floors were dressed with exotic African Teak to introduce warmth to the space. We also removed and replaced the outdated kitchen with a modern look and streamlined, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. To introduce some color for the backsplash and match the client's taste, we introduced a splash of plum-colored glass behind the stove and kept the remaining backsplash with frosted glass. We then removed all the doors throughout the home and replaced with custom-made doors which were a combination of cherry with insert of frosted glass and stainless steel handles. All interior lights were replaced with LED bulbs and stainless steel trims, including unique pendant and wall sconces that were also added. All bathrooms were totally gutted and remodeled with unique wall finishes, including an entire marble slab utilized in the master bath shower stall. Once renovation of the home was completed, we proceeded to install beautiful high-end modern furniture for interior and exterior, from lines such as B&B Italia to complete a masterful design. One-of-a-kind and limited edition accessories and vases complimented the look with original art, most of which was custom-made for the home. To complete the home, state of the art A/V system was introduced. The idea is always to enhance and amplify spaces in a way that is unique to the client and exceeds his/her expectations. In 1833, Clemonds Quinland bought 10 acres from Scalf, retained one acre for himself and donated the rest of the purchase to the County. A plan for twenty town lots, streets and a public square was created and the streets were oriented to allow maximum sunlight exposure to the buildings. Proceeds from lot sales were used to build a jail and courthouse and pay other city expenses. During this same year, Gilmer County was appropriated $800.00 from the State to build a school, and a three-acre lot was donated for the city cemetery. On December 29, l834, Ellijay was incorporated and designated as the County seat of Gilmer County. By 1837, the town had twenty dwellings, three stores and one attorney. Most of these early buildings were of log construction. Many roads led to Ellijay by 1849. The population had grown to 150 by 1850 and the town at five stores. I have to give the builder, Falconi Companies a lot of credit for building three of these magnificent homes. We put a lot of detail into each one because tastefully designed detailing is what people at this level wanted. Trim is what makes or breaks a home or a sale. We became so efficient at trimming out details that we often added more then planned as we proceeded with the project. The homes main feature is a site built curved staircase with over the top railings and full volutes. The fluted newel posts and matching fluted balusters are of the finest quality along with the L.J. Stair system components. The open family room features a sprawling post and beam assembly with glass transom lights above. This assembly along with the 8 posts and arched openings required thousands of hand cut small moldings and a precise layout to create a crisp and light appeal to what could have been a potentially boxy and awkward look. This first floor remodel was a GAME - CHANGER for this house. We took down more than 3 walls and installed a massive support beam. The first floor of this home went from cramped and disconnected to the perfect space for family gatherings. After the space was opened up, we proceeded with a gorgeous kitchen remodel with a modern geometric theme. The hardwood floors transition uniquely and beautifully into the hexagonal floor tile. The back splash is simple and lovely, also following the geometric theme with the hex tile. The last hexagonal touch to this kitchen is its unique hardware. This remodel had several modern touches, without overwhelming the "homey" feeling of a fireplace and hardwoods. All in all, this remodel created the perfect place for entertaining and raising a family.
