The Challenge
This beautiful waterfront home was begging for an update. Our clients wanted a contemporary design with modern finishes. They craved improved functionality in the kitchen, hardwood flooring in the living areas, and a spacious walk-in closet in the master bathroom. With two children in school, our clients also needed the project completed during their summer vacation – leaving a slim 90 days for the entire remodel. Could we do it? …Challenge accepted!
Our Solution
With their active summer travel schedule, our clients elected to vacate their home for the duration of the project. This was ideal for the intrusive nature of the scope of work.
In preparation, our design team created a project plan to suit our client’s needs. With such a clear timeline, we were able to select and order long-lead items in plenty of time for the project start date.
In the kitchen, we rearranged the layout to provide superior ventilation for the cooktop on the exterior wall. We added two large storage cabinets with glass doors, accented by a sleek mosaic backsplash of glass tile. We also incorporated a large contemporary waterfall island into the room. With seating at one end, the island provides both increased functionality and an eye-catching focal point for the center of the room. On the interior wall of the kitchen, we maximized storage with a wall of built-in cabinetry – complete with pullout pantry cabinets, a double oven, and a large stainless refrigerator.
Our clients wisely chose rich, dark-colored wood flooring to add warmth to the contemporary design. After installing the flooring in the kitchen, we brought it into the main living areas as well. In the great room, we wrapped the existing gas fireplace in a neutral stack stone. The effect of the stone on the media and window wall is breathtaking.
In the master bathroom, we expanded the closet by pushing the wall back into the adjacent pass-through hallway. The new walk-in closet now includes an impressive closet organization system.
Returning to the master bathroom, we removed the single vanity and repositioned the toilet, allowing for a new, curb-less glass shower and a his-and-hers vanity. The entire vanity and shower wall is finished in white 12×24 porcelain tile. The vertical glass mosaic accent band and backlit floating mirrors add to the clean, modern style. To the left of the master bathroom entry, we even added a matching make-up area.
Finally, we installed a number of elegant enhancements in the remaining rooms. The clients chose a bronze metal relief accent wall as well as some colorful finishes and artwork for the entry and hallway.
Exceptional Results
Our clients were simply thrilled with the final product! Not only did they return from their summer vacation to a gorgeous home remodel, but we concluded the project a full week ahead of schedule. As a result, the family was able to move in sooner than planned, giving them plenty of time to acclimate to the renovated space before their kids returned to school. Ultimately, we provided the outstanding results and customer experience that our clients had been searching for.
“We met with many other contractors leading up to signing with Progressive Design Build. When we met Mike, we finally felt safe. We had heard so many horror stories about contractors! Progressive was the best move we could have made. They made our dream house become a reality. Vernon was in charge of our project and everything went better than we expected. Our project was completed earlier than expected, too. Our questions and concerns were dealt with quickly and professionally, the job site was always clean, and all subs were friendly and professional. We had a wonderful experience with Progressive Design Build. We’re so grateful we found them.” – The Mader Family

This home had original parquet wood flooring that had become worn, dated, and no longer matched the bright, modern style the homeowners wanted. While the existing floor had served its purpose for many years, it showed its age through visible wear, uneven coloring, and an outdated appearance that made the entryway and main living areas feel darker than they really were.
The homeowners wanted a flooring solution that would completely transform the space while providing long-term durability for everyday living. After helping them select the perfect luxury vinyl plank flooring, our team carefully removed the existing flooring, prepared the subfloor, and professionally installed beautiful wide-plank LVP throughout the main level. The staircase was also updated to create a seamless transition between levels, giving the entire home a cohesive, custom appearance.
The new flooring instantly brightened the home and made the space feel larger, cleaner, and more inviting. The lighter wood tones complement the home's neutral finishes while adding warmth and timeless style. Beyond the visual transformation, luxury vinyl plank offers outstanding performance for busy households. It is highly resistant to scratches, dents, moisture, and everyday wear, making it an excellent choice for families, children, and pets. It is also easy to clean and maintain, allowing homeowners to enjoy beautiful floors without the upkeep required by many traditional flooring materials.
From demolition and floor preparation to the final installation and finishing details, our team focused on delivering quality craftsmanship and a smooth customer experience from start to finish. The result is a dramatic before-and-after transformation that not only improves the appearance of the home but also adds lasting value and everyday comfort.
If you're considering replacing outdated flooring, luxury vinyl plank is one of the most popular choices for Arizona homeowners thanks to its durability, realistic wood appearance, low maintenance, and excellent performance in our climate. This project is a great example of how new flooring can completely transform the look and feel of a home.

For this series of projects, we transformed kitchen spaces by refinishing cabinets with fresh, high-quality paint. Whether updating with classic whites, modern grays, or bold statement colors, each kitchen received a refreshed look that enhances both style and functionality. Our process included thorough surface preparation, expert application, and a durable finish to ensure long-lasting beauty. These upgrades not only brighten and modernize the space but also add value and character to every home.

Artisan Masonry: Precision Tile & Textural Contrast
This view of the daughter’s bathroom highlights the high-end stone integration that defines the entire Hayden estate. We approached this shower not just as a utility, but as a showcase for large-format Italian porcelain and technical tile transitions. The result is a clean, sophisticated environment that balances modern durability with classic "Inland Northwest" textures.
Craftsmanship & Technical Details:
Large-Format Stone Integration: We utilized expansive Italian porcelain body tiles to create a monolithic, seamless look. This requires expert layout and substrate preparation to ensure the veining and texture flow naturally across the vertical surfaces.
Recessed Architectural Niche: A signature detail of our custom builds is the integrated shampoo niche. Note the precision mitered edges and the mosaic tile backset, which provides a subtle textural contrast to the smooth field tile while offering durable, high-end functionality.
Professional Oil-Rubbed Fixtures: The dark, high-contrast hardware provides a bold architectural accent against the grey-toned stone. This high-flow showerhead and pressure-balanced valve system are engineered for long-term reliability in a busy family home.
Textural Balance: The cool, organic tones of the masonry are warmed by the surrounding Knotty Alder casings, creating a cohesive design language that ties this suite into the rest of the home's "Mountain Modern" aesthetic.
Heavy-Duty Frameless Glass: To keep the focus on the intricate tile work and the recessed niche, we utilized a custom-cut, heavy-gauge frameless glass enclosure, ensuring the space feels open and high-end.

Do you ever think about DIYing your closet renovation, but you’re just not sure it’ll turn out the way you want?
This is where we found our recent client, Amanda, and her husband, Terry.
DIY Dreamers
The couple was in the middle of renovating their master bath when Amanda went down a Pinterest ‘rabbit hole.’
There in her endless scrolling, she was mesmerized by photos of beautiful master closets…efficient master closets…organized master closets…inspired master closets.
Amanda began thinking…If she and Terry were already redoing their master bath, it only made sense to renovate their ensuite closet at the same time.
They could even DIY it and save a little bit of money, too. Right?
Amanda took measurements, researched closet organization systems online, and prepared to become a closet DIY warrior.
But a little thought was holding her back.
It wasn’t that she didn’t think they could do it themselves.
Could they survive the stress of the renovation process?
What if they ended up hating the result?
What if they ended up hating each other in the process?
That’s when Amanda found us and decided to explore a different option.
A Professional Job – At the Same Price
Our Designer Felicity arrived for a consultation, worked up a complete closet renovation plan, explained our signature stress-free installation process, and gave the couple a price.
The number ended up rivaling the final DIY cost.
Amanda and Terry were sold (and relieved).
The couple’s professional closet renovation & end-to-end installation took place over just 2 days last summer.
They now have custom floor-to-ceiling closet organization – and new weight off of their shoulders that only comes with a clean, organized space.
We later returned to revamp their daughter Savannah’s closet a few weeks later.
Before you DIY your closet revamp, give us a quick call. We’d love to show you what we can do.

Having a small 10’ x 12’ kitchen tucked in the back corner of their home wasn’t working for this this young and growing family. Its cramped layout didn’t allow for a breakfast area and storage space was non-existent, both major issues for their busy day-to-day lifestyle. After consulting with Michael Nash Design, Build & Homes, they decided to build a 300 square foot addition onto the back of this 1960’s vintage split level.
The planned addition expanded and updated the home’s kitchen via a contemporary design, added plenty of storage and provided a much needed breakfast seating area. More importantly, it created a great place for the family to gather.
The new kitchen contains a 48” professional-grade range and a large built-in refrigerator, as well as lots of cabinetry and counter space to meet client’s storage needs. Use of lighter shaker style custom painted cabinetry with honed black counter tops has lightened the space tremendously. A large island with distress black cherry cabinetry ans a mahogany countertop was installed and has become the focal point of the kitchen.
By removing a partition that previously separated the kitchen from the dining room, the new design has created a wide open floor plan. The casual dining room flows right into a casual seating area with a corner fireplace. French doors open onto a large new deck.
Best of all, the addition lets the family spend time together before, during and after mean preparation. It’s truly become the hearth of the home.

September 21st is the first day of Fall. I know we don’t want to think about it yet, but it is good to prepare and get the chimney swept early. Why? According to the Farmer’s Almanac, they are predicting a colder and snowier Winter. But you say, “eh, I got a gas fireplace.” Better yet, “I don’t use my fireplace, so why should I sweep it, and clean it early?” Let’s discuss why all types of chimneys and fireplaces need to be swept.
Why Do All Types of Chimney’s and Fireplaces Need to Be Swept?
When we think of the fireplace, we picture the real wood burning fireplace with the sounds of crackling wood. With regular use of the wood-burning fireplaces, a byproduct called creosote forms and over time, lines the side of the chimney flue. This needs to be swept at least once per year as creosote is flammable. However, all chimney’s, regardless of whether it burns wood or utilizes gas, needs to be professionally inspected and swept annually.
Many homeowners mistakenly believe that a gas or unused chimney is immune to problems since it doesn't produce a byproduct. However, these chimney systems face their own unique dangers. Gas fireplaces, especially those that are high-efficiency, can lead to the buildup of corrosive deposits. Over time, these deposits can degrade your chimney liner. Getting it inspected by a certified chimney technician will control this issue so it doesn’t turn into a problem.
4 Key Reasons to Prioritize Your Annual Chimney Inspection
The annual chimney inspection is more than just a sweep; it’s a comprehensive health check for your entire chimney system. We call it the 14 Point Inspection. A certified chimney technician will look for:
1. Fire Hazards: Again, for wood-burning chimneys, the removal of creosote is important to prevent a chimney fire. Gas fireplaces release corrosive deposits. If you don’t use the fireplace, you never know what debris may have settled in. If you want to use the fireplace, please be sure to have it professionally inspected and swept before use.
2. Obstructions: There’s a whole world outside of your home, and especially in the Fall, our little friends are searching for a warm place to stay. Your chimney looks pretty good. And, let’s not forget how the wind in the Chicagoland are does a great job of moving debris around that can get up and under the chimney cap or directly into the chimney if you don’t have a cap. These blockages need to be cleared for you and your home’s protection.
3. Structural Damage: A chimney technician will be able to spot cracks, water damage, or deterioration of the chimney and chimney liner that could compromise the system's safety.
4. Ventilation Issues: Ventilation is key for your home to breathe. The certified chimney technician will ensure proper draft and airflow, which is the best way to get rid of toxic gases.
NFPA
Remember, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends an annual inspection for all chimney types. This simple, proactive maintenance can save you from costly repairs. Don't wait for a problem to become obvious.
Contact Superior Chimney today at 877-244-6349 to schedule a 14-Point Chimney inspection to ensure your home and family are protected.

Although large and spacious the original kitchen did not meet the client's needs. The appliances were old and inefficient and the cabinets did not reflect the style of the home. The goal was to design the kitchen for more than one cook and include high-end appliances and stylish cabinetry and finishes. The new design allows for food preparation, cooking and storage areas. The professional style refrigerator allows access from both sides of the island. The microwave oven is beside the refrigerator for quick re-heats while the professional oven at the other end cooks food at remarkable speed. The range top becomes the command center. Plenty of space was allocated at the window at the end of the kitchen for a large table and chairs that overlook a beautiful backyard. A wet bar was located at the opposite end just outside the kitchen along with a walk-in pantry for additional storage. The kitchen is now completed in a traditional style with simple, but elegant, white painted cabinetry. White marble counter tops and back splashes are highlighted by elegant pendant lights above the island. Finally, this beautiful room is dramatized by a black coffered ceiling accented by lighting above the crown molding.

2013 NARI CAPITAL COTY, MERIT AWARD WINNER, RESIDENTIAL KITCHEN UNDER $40,000
A young family expecting a child just bought their first home, a 1964 colonial in Annandale, Virginia. There were many areas they wanted to renovate, but with the woman of the house being a professional chef, the kitchen was first and foremost.
The existing kitchen was dark and dated. Upon entering the room, all of the appliances were aligned on the far wall, near the doorway to the adjacent dining room. While the original kitchen had a lot of open floor space, it had disconnected workspaces, limited counter space to prepare foods, and was generally dysfunctional.
The new owners wished to create a kitchen that would not only serve as a space to efficiently prepare meals, but also as a mini office area where the chef could have access to cookbooks and a desk for recipe writing. Additionally, it needed to be a welcoming, central part of the home where the family could expect to have many informal meals over the years. The chef desired to have more cabinet space while also adding newer, larger and additional appliances to the footprint, such as a second oven.
The addition of a large (approximately 4 feet by 7 feet) center island increased both the form and function of the room. The turned-legs and glass-faced curio cabinets that greet visitors offer a strong statement. The island maximized efficiency and was equipped with cabinetry and accessories on every side (e.g., spice cabinet, microwave cabinet, double trash can holder) and would even include an overhang on the side by the windows to serve as a breakfast bar. The large island is covered with a white macauba granite, creating a beautiful and expansive prep space.
On the far wall, an airy garden window replaced the flat metal-framed sink window. Below the window sits a large white farm-style sink. The dishwasher and double oven were installed to the right. To the left, a large 29 cubic foot French-door, bottom freezer refrigerator.
The selected maple cabinetry is frost white with pewter glazing. Coupled with the island’s espresso black finish, it creates a great yin-yang contrast and balance to the room. The bright cabinetry, garden window, added recess lights, under cabinet lights, embedded lights under the mantle hearth, and inside cabinet lights with dimmer switches enable this room to be as bright as desired.
The Zen flare to this classic French Country kitchen is complete with the addition of the Sumatran black standing pebble backsplash. These easy to clean stones add great texture and stunning contrast.
The homeowners are extremely satisfied with this new kitchen and are now looking forward to getting the rest of the house renovated.

This Lake Sammamish kitchen and family room remodel combines dramatic custom craftsmanship with a sophisticated contemporary aesthetic. European-style frameless cabinetry creates the kitchen’s clean, architectural lines, with floor-to-ceiling dark wood cabinets featuring a continuous vertical grain that makes a striking statement throughout the space. The rich wood is contrasted by crisp white frameless cabinetry on the oversized kitchen island.
A custom dimensional tile niche is integrated into the cabinetry wall, providing a sculptural focal point while accentuating the height and beautiful grain of the surrounding wood cabinetry. Granite countertops add a refined, durable work surface and complement the warm, understated palette.
Designed for both serious cooking and entertaining, the kitchen features a professional-style six-burner gas range and oven, plus a second oven built into the island. The expansive island provides generous preparation, serving, and gathering space while maintaining the streamlined European aesthetic.
The combination of frameless European-style cabinetry, floor-to-ceiling wood grain, contrasting white island cabinetry, granite countertops, custom tilework, and professional appliances gives this Lake Sammamish remodel a distinctive balance of warmth, drama, and modern sophistication.
