A proper kitchen remodel requires careful attention to traffic flow. To ensure the floor plan met our clients' needs, we placed masking tape on the floor to help the family imagine the countertop location, during design. One problem we needed to address with the size of the refrigerator. With the addition of an island in the middle of the room, the refrigerator stuck farther than the original 1990s model would have. Because we were also remodeling the laundry room, we carefully recessed the refrigerator into the wall between the laundry room and kitchen, allowing the proper walking room around the kitchen island.

This bathroom was built as a wet room with all surfaces being waterproofed. The homeowner is in a wheelchair but wanted to be able to care for himself independently. The floors slope toward the drain for proper water drainage and the sink is wheelchair accessible. Grab bars and a hand held shower were installed for easier bathing.

Along with a hot tub set into a new multi-level deck, all the homeowners needed to have room to breathe was a fire pit and a television — no additional structure was required. Note: Today’s LED televisions can be properly encased to be theft-free. Encasing the television carefully will also ensure the proper internal temperature control/circulation to protect it. This pool deck was a lot of fun (and work) to install. The sidewalks were poured and stamped first, taking extra care to maintain the proper slope and elevation to make the water run away from the pool but also away from the house. The sidewalk is pinned to the patio with rebar dowels in plastic sleeves to allow for horizontal shifting, but no vertical movement. Expansion foam and caulk prevent chipping on these joints. The borders are poured integrally with the pool deck; they are hand stamped and chiseled in. Lots of patience and attention to detail. I am fortunate to have a great crew.
