A proper dining space was carved out of a previously awkward entry. Beyond, the kitchen anchors the center of the apartment with living, dining, and working spaces all opening on to the kitchen from three sides. Custom banquette and table by MKCA; nickel LED chandelier by Pelle; ladder back chairs by Phaedo, and leather and sycamore lounge chair by Erickson Aesthetics.

Custom black solid oak round table, The breakfast nook adds graceful contrast to the primarily neutral kitchen. Foscarini pendant lighting over the table, colourful pillows add to the playful element and compliments the Dover white marble splashes throughout.

Not every bay has a bay shaped window treatment. Here, cellular shades are inside mounted in the bay, but to keep more hieght in the room, a cornice board with cascade sides is mounted above the bay window seat. Linda H. Bassert, Masterworks Window Fashions & Design, LLC

The back porch is essentially a second living room — just one with better air. Cedar walls and ceiling, flagstone floors, and open-air archways that frame the backyard like a painting. A full outdoor kitchen runs along one wall, stone-clad with a built-in grill, refrigerator, and sink. On the other end, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace anchors a proper seating area with a ceiling fan overhead for the warmer months.
Accordion doors connect it directly to the living room, and custom phantom screens mean you can close it off without losing the feeling of being outside. The whole space was designed to be used — not just admired from the inside.

This kitchen was designed with the intent of hosting large family gatherings, upwards of twenty people at a time. Locating the kitchen adjacent to the informal eating area, the family room and the patio, was the ideal choice for entertaining. The implementation of a large double island, in an unexpected “L” shape, allowed for a ton of extra space without consequently feeling like an industrial environment.
The choice to panel the expansive fridge and freezer allowed the mirrored stainless-steel display cabinets to really become a focal point in the space. These cabinets worked perfectly to house the client’s large stemware collection. Repeating the mirrored finish on the other side of the room, with a refined hood fan exudes glamour. Lastly, the sophisticated hardware and sculptural light fixtures elevate this kitchen to the contemporary, yet traditional, formal style found throughout the rest of the home.

This modern green home offers both a vacation destination on Cape Cod near local family members and an opportunity for rental income.
FAMILY ROOTS. A West Coast couple living in the San Francisco Bay Area sought a permanent East Coast vacation home near family members living on Cape Cod. As academic professionals focused on sustainability, they sought a green, energy efficient home that was well-aligned with their values. With no green homes available for sale on Cape Cod, they decided to purchase land near their family and build their own.
SLOPED SITE. Comprised of a 3/4 acre lot nestled in the pines, the steeply sloping terrain called for a plan that embraced and took advantage of the slope. Of equal priority was optimizing solar exposure, preserving privacy from abutters, and creating outdoor living space. The design accomplished these goals with a simple, rectilinear form, offering living space on the both entry and lower/basement levels. The stepped foundation allows for a walk-out basement level with light-filled living space on the down-hill side of the home. The traditional basement on the eastern, up-hill side houses mechanical equipment and a home gym. The house welcomes natural light throughout, captures views of the forest, and delivers entertainment space that connects indoor living space to outdoor deck and dining patio.
MODERN VISION. The clean building form and uncomplicated finishes pay homage to the modern architectural legacy on the outer Cape. Durable and economical fiber cement panels, fixed with aluminum channels, clad the primary form. Cedar clapboards provide a visual accent at the south-facing living room, which extends a single roof plane to cover the entry porch.
SMART USE OF SPACE. On the entry level, the “L”-shaped living, dining, and kitchen space connects to the exterior living, dining, and grilling spaces to effectively double the home’s summertime entertainment area. Placed at the western end of the entry level (where it can retain privacy but still claim expansive downhill views) is the master suite with a built-in study. The lower level has two guest bedrooms, a second full bathroom, and laundry. The flexibility of the space—crucial in a house with a modest footprint—emerges in one of the guest bedrooms, which doubles as home office by opening the barn-style double doors to connect it to the bright, airy open stair leading up to the entry level. Thoughtful design, generous ceiling heights and large windows transform the modest 1,100 sf* footprint into a well-lit, spacious home. *(total finished space is 1800 sf)
RENTAL INCOME. The property works for its owners by netting rental income when the owners are home in San Francisco. The house especially caters to vacationers bound for nearby Mayo Beach and includes an outdoor shower adjacent to the lower level entry door. In contrast to the bare bones cottages that are typically available on the Cape, this home offers prospective tenants a modern aesthetic, paired with luxurious and green features. Durable finishes inside and out will ensure longevity with the heavier use that comes with a rental property.
COMFORT YEAR-ROUND. The home is super-insulated and air-tight, with mechanical ventilation to provide continuous fresh air from the outside. High performance triple-paned windows complement the building enclosure and maximize passive solar gain while ensuring a warm, draft-free winter, even when sitting close to the glass. A properly sized air source heat pump offers efficient heating & cooling, and includes a carefully designed the duct distribution system to provide even comfort throughout the house. The super-insulated envelope allows us to significantly reduce the equipment capacity, duct size, and airflow quantities, while maintaining unparalleled thermal comfort.
ENERGY EFFICIENT. The building’s shell and mechanical systems play instrumental roles in the home’s exceptional performance. The building enclosure reduces the most significant energy glutton: heating. Continuous super-insulation, thorough air sealing, triple-pane windows, and passive solar gain work together to yield a miniscule heating load. All active energy consumers are extremely efficient: an air source heat pump for heating and cooling, a heat pump hot water heater, LED lighting, energy recovery ventilation (ERV), and high efficiency appliances. The result is a home that uses 70% less energy than a similar new home built to code requirements.
OVERALL. The home embodies the owners’ goals and values while comprehensively enabling thermal comfort, energy efficiency, a vacation respite, and supplementary income.

This sleek, contemporary dining room showcases a modern and sophisticated design. The room has a clean and streamlined aesthetic, characterized by smooth surfaces, minimalistic décor, and an overall sense of elegance. The combination of sleekness and contemporary design elements creates a visually appealing and up-to-date space.
One of the notable features in this dining room is the presence of kul grilles vent covers, all finished in Brushed Chrome. The vent covers play a prominent role in both the functionality and aesthetic of the room. As part of the ventilation system, these covers ensure proper air circulation and temperature control, contributing to a comfortable dining experience.
The choice of a Brushed Chrome finish for the vent covers adds a touch of refinement and modernity to the overall design. The brushed texture of the chrome finish provides a subtle visual interest, creating depth and dimension in the room. Moreover, the metallic appearance of the brushed chrome finish complements various color schemes and interior styles, making it a versatile choice for this contemporary dining room.

Full Kitchen Remodel in Green Bay, WI
Complete Transformation | Flooring, Cabinetry, Drywall & Finish Carpentry
This full kitchen remodel in Green Bay, Wisconsin transformed an outdated layout with original cabinetry and worn flooring into a clean, modern, highly functional space designed for long-term durability.
As a veteran-owned home remodeling contractor serving Brown County, our goal was to completely rebuild the space from the inside out — not simply update surface finishes.
Scope of Work Included:
• Full demolition of existing cabinetry and finishes
• New drywall installation and wall preparation
• Updated electrical layout coordination
• Interior painting throughout
• Installation of new shaker-style cabinets
• Modern cabinet hardware
• New laminate countertops
• Luxury vinyl plank flooring installation
• New base trim and window casing
• Updated sink and appliance integration
The original kitchen featured dated cabinetry, heavy trim details, and aging sheet vinyl flooring. By removing the old finishes and rebuilding with clean lines and neutral tones, the space now feels brighter, larger, and more functional.
The new layout maximizes wall space, improves workflow, and creates a cohesive transition into the adjoining dining area. Updated trim and casing details complete the project and elevate the overall finish quality.

The best room of the house is the dining room. The piece from the National Gallery in London called THE SURPRISE
BY CLAUDE-MARIE DUBUFE takes center stage as it brings a whimsicality and softens the space. The Alice in Wonderland photograph is amazing as it brings a feel of fantasy and color to the space.

Our client requested a dining room that could be both grand and inviting. Our solution to this was to add comfortable seating along with rustic finishes and organic elements and shapes to soften the lines of the space. This combination makes for a warm and inviting, yet formal space with its large chandelier, accessories, and proper place settings.
