The kitchen was completely falling apart from water damage and was painted chartreuse and rasberry. We installed a new kitchen designed for maximum storage in a small space that includes a dishwasher, subway tile back splash and a Silestone countertop . We were able to salvage the appliances, all in excellent working condition saving the owner $$$.

Recently I was called to a house in the very small town of Marton in Warwickshire which is known for its proximity to the medieval “Marton Bridge”, which lies just to the north, crossing the River Leam. The entire downstairs flooring of my client’s house consisted of Quarry tiles apart from one room where the tiles had been covered by screed and then linoleum. Quarry tiles are a classic hard wearing tile used for both internal and external commercial and residential flooring due to its ability to withstand heavy usage. Reception areas, outdoor patios and porches, for example, are commonly tiled using Quarry. My client wanted to restore the covered floor back to its original state so that it would match the rest of the downstairs. Realising that this would be a complex and physically demanding task, my client decided to call in Tile Doctor to carry out the restoration. Removing the Linoleum covering was a relatively straightforward process, so I was able to do this relatively quickly. The main issue concerned removing the screed, which is far more difficult to remove, requiring a lot of physical scraping. Thus I opted to call in some extra manpower in the form of the Nottinghamshire Tile Doctor, Steve Carpenter. With the two of us armed with scrapers we set about removing the screed, taking extra care not to damage the Quarry tile underneath. Once Steve and I had scraped off as much of the screed as physically possible, I applied a strong dilution of Tile Doctor Remove & Go, a stripper with cleaning properties that is particularly effective at breaking down coatings such as adhesives, plasters and sealers. The product was left to dwell for ten minutes before I worked it into the stone with a scrubbing pad. After cleaning the tiles, I noticed a layer of grout haze on the surface of the exposed Quarry tiles, so I applied Tile Doctor Grout Clean-Up to remove it. Once the cleaning process was complete I gave the floor a thorough rinse with clean water, before soaking up the resulting residue with a wet-vac machine. The first day of work was a gruelling 12 hours long, but I was very pleased with the results and left the floor to dry overnight. On day two I returned to finish the job by sealing the newly uncovered Quarry tiles, but not before using a damp meter to check that they were completely dry. Any excess moisture left on unsealed tiles can potentially effect the performance of any sealers that are applied. I sealed the tiles using Tile Doctor Colour Grow, an impregnating, colour-enhancing sealer which gave the surface an aesthetically pleasing shine, as well as durable protection against dirt and wear for the future. After two long days of work the job was done and the transformation was fantastic and highly rewarding to see, the house now has a fantastic looking Quarry tiled floor running throughout the entirety of the lower level. Since her garden brings her so much joy, I proposed adding more garden rooms to experience. We removed the large expansive pool and replaced it with a small reflecting pond that doubles as the pool. This allowed us to create 4 new garden spaces. We replaced all concrete pavers with natural PA flagstone. The traditional square lawn provides elements of simplicity, elegance and classical style while creating a new play space for the grand kids. The pergola creates depth and a great focal point from the loggia. We illuminated all the walkways and garden rooms with Escort Lighting. One of the most fun transformations was converting the spa to a fish pond. The pond provides just enough sound to drain out all neighborhood activities. In the front, we created a new permeable brick paving parking area. The parking area was designed to keep visitors from venturing to the back parking. We chose the permeable brick pavers to collect runoff that is becoming more of a problem in the neighborhood. Our final piece to this property was to come up with a unique solution creating additional privacy while minimizing root damage to the existing plant material. Our client was looking for a permanent solution that required little to no maintenance. Masonry walls were out due to the necessary footers. We looked at fence options. Wood and plastics were out, so we created post out of steel “I” beams and setting concrete lintels in between the lintels. It was perfect. This has to be one of my favorite projects to design and implement of my 25 year experience.

Created parking area using pavers and edging stone to replace outdated and damaged one. Installed a dry-riverbed drainage system to allow water to exit the property and to repair erosion issues, while still keeping a fresh and traditional look. Front yard was replaced with zoysia sod, and plantings in the front were replaced. Natural areas were dressed with pine straw to provide clean and fresh look

Life is brought back to the historic C&O Canal. In 2010, a blizzard devastated the 60-year-old Mulberry trees lining the historic Tow Path of the C&O Canal in Georgetown. D. A. Dunlevy was brought in to repair the damage and restore the beauty of this popular site. The challenge of finding a native species of tree that was also mature enough to have considerable height was met through a collaboration with the property owner and the National Park Service. Locally-sourced river birch, standing 30-40 feet tall, were brought in and planted, providing a fast return to the stately stretch of trail. A custom water feature and specialty plantings were also installed in the courtyard to add a peaceful place for taking in the views.

Full exterior replacement on this Branson property. We tore off the old roof, installed architectural shingles, and wrapped the building in vertical metal siding. The stone base stayed, so the goal was picking a siding profile and color that worked with it instead of fighting it. Clean vertical lines against the stone gives the whole building a much sharper look. Metal siding holds up well in the Ozarks. It does not rot, it handles hail better than most materials, and it takes almost no maintenance once it is up.
