The existing space was large with a vaulted ceiling, lots of natural light and an existing private water closet. So the bones of the space were great and the room just needed a few tweaks. We started by relocating the cramped shower that shared the water closet room, to the existing tub location. The giant whirlpool tub took up more than its share of real estate in the room, and the beautiful new shower, which gets used daily, now sits in its spot. The new shower features beautiful lass tile accents as well as a bench seat and frameless shower door. The new tub is freestanding and sits in front of an updated slightly smaller window, providing a sculptural focal point upon entry to the room. There was still plenty of room for two large vanities, and a corner storage cabinet and appliance garage that hides small bathroom necessities. The water closet remains in its own private room and the area that once housed the shower, is now an additional closet for the master bedroom. The room is a pallet of soft grays and whites with the cherry vanities adding some warmth. Polished chrome and glass accents bring some sparkle to the space. This dreamy beach house is quite the reality check out this stunning ADU and major renovation on this beautiful hippie chic beach abode in Laguna Beach, CA Our clients vision was to create an open floorplan concept while adding some additional space without expanding their footprint. "Lynn, we're ready to do the Guest Bath now"! My clients excitedly told me. We had just completed the renovation of their Master Bath, so we set to work right away. They wanted a 'beachy theme' and were also excited at the prospect of a larger bath tub. "Beachy" was translated into the color and texture of the materials. Floor tile has a mottled, blue glaze reminiscent of a cloud-scattered sky, glass, mosaic tiles in translucent shades of blue and green echo beach glass and water. Faucets in polished nickel add sparkle and everything is set against a neutral backdrop of imported, Italian tile in glossy white. Although this room is contemporary, local historic architecture is still honored; faucets are a modernized version of old-fashioned faucet taps and the rectangular wall tile harkens back to subway tile - typical in many urban buildings. The tub area was enlarged by borrowing dead space from the adjacent kitchen pantry and there's plenty of new storage in the vanity and recessed medicine cabinet. Niches in the tub and shower area neatly contain shampoo bottles, soap and candles. To set the mood for supreme relaxation, the jetted tub contains a revolutionary feature known as Chromatherapy in which water-tight LED lenses imbue the bath water with colored light. An externally-vented exhaust fan keeps this windowless room fresh and layers of light come from the recessed ceiling fixtures and wall sconces. The mood is set for relaxing, so fill up the tub, sit back ... ahhhhhh … just beachy!

AFTER - This is what redesign is all about... creating a better space without changing everything. We kept the costs down by using the existing furnishings, draperies, chandelier and millwork. We changed the wall color, added a more signifcant floral arrangement in the chandelier, repositioned the furnishings, reupholstered the seating (psst.... we didn't need to take them to a professional) and added some accessories.
