We added an upstairs covered section that has a fireplace, with arched opening, an arched top door, and stone arches with drop screens embedded to protect from the sun and bugs. Modern light aqua blue bedroom for video game and astronaut loving 6 year old boy. To take full advantage of a large empty wall I designed a custom bookshelf to fit on top of the modern dresser. The result was playful statement piece with lots of practical and fun storage, and a display for toys and decor. We hung a acrylic bubble chair in the other corner of the room and added white and silver upholstered “pixels” for a fun video game feel and to protect the walls. This project involved the conversion of a timber frame horse barn into a space accommodating a variety of uses including a basketball court, a game room, a pub/lounge, a pottery studio and gallery, a wine cellar, and a variety of loft spaces. Significant structural modifications were required to provide column-free court space. The well-insulated building envelope allowed the original sheathing to remain exposed within by applying wall and roof panels to the exterior frame. The basketball hoop swings-up to improve the view outside. A sliding interior barn-door system was developed to protect the large windows and doors behind the hoop.

Handcrafted to replicate the classic Rock-Ola tables of the 1940s, the New Rock-Ola Shuffleboard Table is built using a solid wood horse collar shaped into a tear drop design. With plenty of room in the basement, we designed a full-service bar, equipped with a sink, dishwasher drawers, icemaker, beverage refrigerator and liquor storage. Framing was added over the bar to accentuate the shape of the bar and give the feeling of a floating bulkhead. A wall of glass mosaic was added to give texture and depth to the space, along with a leather upholstered overlay on the front of the bar. The counter tops are a combination of Quartz and Eucalyptus wood with poured resin over the top for protection. There is a lounge area with a projection TV and 84” wide screen with plenty of seating and storage for games. The other end of the basement hosts a ping pong table set aside for the serious players. The existing lighting was removed and a new lighting layout with fixtures were installed to address any activities that might be occurring in the various spaces. The end result is an incredible living space in the basement for both the teens and their friends, as well as the adults to enjoy games on the big screen as well as a rambunctious game of ping pong.
