This residential roofing project highlights the perfect balance between architectural elegance and structural structural efficiency. The original structure could not support heavy clay or slate tiles without costly framing reinforcement. Our solution was to install premium stone-coated steel roofing panels.Weighing only 100-150 lbs per square, this ultra-lightweight roof material allowed for a seamless installation, dramatically reducing the structural load while providing a stunning, high-definition tile profile. Engineered with a durable galvalume steel core and natural stone chip finish, the new roof offers Class 4 impact resistance and exceptional wind uplift ratings, ensuring decades of maintenance-free protection for the homeowner.

Side view of the design. The garage was designed with the intent of representing what would have been the original Barn structure which had been converted. A traditional 'Barn Quit' with a stylized will tree decorated the front of the facade. Materials include: random rubble stonework with cornerstones, traditional lap siding at the central massing, standing seam metal roof with wood shingles (Wallaba wood provides a 'class A' fire rating).

Working with Greydiantscape Architecture Inc., ShadeFX customized an 8’x12’ motorized retractable roof for the outdoor dining area. The homeowners chose Sunbrella Natural fabric because of its high UV protection rating. The color of the fabric also beautifully complements the white and grey structure.

The main house, built by a national homebuilder, draws upon tradition, but the pool house, speaks the language of contemporary minimalism. It presents clean lines and a soaring roofline overhanging tall glass doors and clerestory windows. Great design, careful attention to detail, first-rate materials and impeccable craftsmanship have yielded a spectacular solution for outdoor entertaining. The house has been laid out to take maximum advantage of both passive and active solar energy, natural ventilation, low impact and recyclable materials, high efficiency lighting and controls, in a structure that is very simple and economical to build. The envelope of the house is designed to require a minimum amount of energy in order to live and use the home based on the lifestyle of the occupants. The home will have an innovative HVAC system that has been recently developed by engineers from the University of Illinois which uses considerably less energy than a conventional heating and cooling system and provides extremely high indoor air quality utilizing a CERV (conditioned energy recovery ventilation system) combined with a cost effective installation.
