The client, a sculpture artist, and his wife came to J.P.A. only wanting a studio next to their home. During the design process it grew to having a living space above the studio, which grew to having a small house attached to the studio forming a compound. At this point it became clear to the client; the project was outgrowing the neighborhood. After re-evaluating the project, the live / work compound is currently sited in a natural protected nest with post card views of Mount Sopris & the Roaring Fork Valley. The courtyard compound consist of the central south facing piece being the studio flanked by a simple 2500 sq ft 2 bedroom, 2 story house one the west side, and a multi purpose guest wing /studio on the east side. The evolution of this compound came to include the desire to have the building blend into the surrounding landscape, and at the same time become the backdrop to create and display his sculpture.

Custom Home Built for Real Life
Our clients came to us with a clear vision: a home that could adapt to their lifestyle and growing family. They needed a home built with intention, designed with the future in mind, and built around the routines they loved and the people they loved more.
Open-Concept Living With Hosting in Mind
Our clients hosted often and lived actively, so the main level had to be flexible for all of life’s moments. The goal was a space that felt grand without losing its warmth.
Cooking together as a family mattered to our clients – the Wolf range, farmhouse sink, integrated appliances, and large island gave them a kitchen that flowed effortlessly while looking beautiful. This space also served as the bridge between other parts of the main level so that they would stay in view of the next. This created the perfect environment for gathering where everyone had their own spot without ever feeling apart from the whole group.
For the living room, our clients wanted space that felt open without losing its warmth. Soaring ceilings created that sense of scale, while warm tones and materials, like the wood coffered ceiling and fireplace wall, kept it grounded. That same warmth carried outside, where an outdoor lounge with a fireplace and dining area made sure guests felt welcomed the moment they stepped out.
A Backyard Built for Real Rest
Every corner of the backyard was designed with one goal: to be the ultimate outdoor retreat. The elevated, white-brick-framed pool and integrated spa hot tub gave them a place to truly exhale. As the sun set, the fire pit lounge next to the pool became the hangout spot when they hosted their youth groups and family gatherings.
Room to Grow
With kids in the house, “custom” had to also mean flexible. Our clients had 2 young sons and needed their rooms to grow with them through the years. The two bedrooms and a full bath sat beside a loft that served as both their hangout-and-homework spot. The guest suite sat on the same level where a four-poster bed, floor-to-ceiling wood-look tile, and a frameless glass shower welcomed their guests from day one.
A Retreat That’s Actually Theirs
Between hosting and raising kids, this couple needed a suite that felt like a true escape. The wood-planked tray ceiling and French doors grounded the room in warmth the moment you walked in, while the ensuite bathroom carried a spa-like feeling with a freestanding soaking tub, custom double vanity, and a glass-enclosed shower.
This Is What Approachable Luxury Looks Like
The approachable luxury experience meant starting with conversations about how they wanted their space to live with them – how they hosted, how their kids played, how they wanted to feel walking through their own front door, and how we took their goals and experience and used it as the foundation of every decision that was made from start to finish. We wanted our clients to feel taken care of through the process and, most importantly, feel heard.

Installation in process with Bonavista mosaic style real thin stone veneer. Beautiful retaining wall in California backyard landscape. Bonavista stone’s wide range of browns, grays, and gold tones make this natural stone veneer great for adding a natural look to your space. Bonavista’s variety of stone sizes make it a great option for projects like accent walls, fireplaces, tub and shower surrounds, and exterior siding. Large projects like whole-house siding add a majestic castle look to your home or business. The wide range of colors in Bonavista stone will complement modern décor as well as homes using more natural materials.

For this project, we took an empty space and digitally designed it specifically for real estate purposes. To do this, all we needed were the measurements and photos of the area. Using these, we created a detailed and appealing design, incorporating products from our affiliated retail store, Birch & Bind, to enhance the visual appeal and functionality of the space. This process ensures that potential buyers can easily envision the space's potential, making it more attractive and marketable.

Project Goal:
This Corona del Mar duplex was transformed into a stunning, turn-key property designed to maximize its appeal for both residents and investors. Located just 22 homes from the beach, the goal was to create a modern, sophisticated space that complements the charm of the CDM Village while delivering exceptional functionality and style.
Project Process:
In collaboration with a trusted real estate partner, we fully remodeled the duplex to the studs in 2023, incorporating mid-century design elements and high-end finishes throughout. Each flat—one with 3 beds/2 baths and the other with 2 beds/2 baths—was designed with move-in-ready appeal, blending privacy, greenery, and walkability. The project highlights the perfect balance of style and practicality, making it an ideal investment or beachside retreat.

Kitchen from condo renovation in Upper West Side, Manhattan.
ABOUT THE RENOVATION
Very often, getting what you want is simply about timing. After years of owning her Upper West Side co-op in Lincoln Square and making various small renovations along the way, our client decided to go all-out and advance with her dream renovation after being eased into the significant decision by our full-service design-build approach, extensive pre-planning process, out of the box design strategy, and thorough estimate. The results of this stunning renovation speak for themselves.
SPACIOUS CENTERPIECE KITCHEN
With many condos in Manhattan, the kitchen is the home’s focal point. In this case, the client’s goal was to reinvigorate this critical space via a classic interior design style with modern and contemporary touches. Beyond introducing updated appliances and pendant lighting, we added immaculate natural stone countertops and backsplash, along with opaque Tribeca shaker cabinets throughout the space.
TWO BATHROOMS, TWICE AS NICE
When the opportunity to add a bathroom to your Manhattan condo presents itself, you take advantage. Part of our renovation of this USW condo included an additional bathroom, in addition to a total overhaul of the ensuite bathroom. For the main bath, we turned the dreary old space into a soft and elegant sanctuary that’s warming as the sunlight beaming in, thanks to the sleek nickel-finish fixtures and custom marble tile. In the newly-created guest bathroom, we delivered an upscale, timeless design incorporating gleaming subway tiles, bold brass fixtures, and exquisite deco hexagon flooring.
PERMA-WFH OFFICE WITH CUSTOM MURPHY BED & STORAGE
After being thrust into a permanent work from home schedule due to the pandemic, our client decided to incorporate more of a formal home office space into her guest bedroom - a space where she also required additional storage. The problem was she didn't want to give up the practicality of a spare bedroom. To maintain the added bedroom availability and also provide a proper office space, we created a custom Murphy bed and desk area with custom millwork for enhanced organization with a perfectly narrow personal desk area nestled to the left of the large built-in.
ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
- We Incorporated Various Square/hexagon Features Throughout The Space, Per Client Preference
- Laundry Relocation For Added Space And Preference

GARRISON 1-51
The Garrison is a sculptural iron casting intended for use a stool or side table. It recycles steel salvaged from the 2015 demolition of the namesake Garrison bridge near Toronto’s Fort York. True to STACKLAB’s ethos, however, the Garrison’s shape is not intended to be a formal representation or memorialization of any of the bridge’s attributes.
Instead, the Garrison exemplifies STACKLAB’s mission to emphasize that all material matters. Discarded or waste materials are repurposed in a way that imbues them with new life and meaning.
Its form was derived using digital real-time parametric design and fabrication technology. STACKLAB optimized the product to be as light and strong as possible: the Garrison’s 35-lb. weight can support a load of 900 lbs.
STACKLAB and its partnering firm Rebart procured two tons of bridge rebar, enough to release a limited-edition run of 102 units. STACKLAB designed the Garrison to be sand-cast and engineered the pattern (used to generate sand moulds) so that small manufacturing defects, typical of this process, would only appear at the tip of the piece. Units 1 to 51 have a thermally applied 1/16” solid bronze coating in this location, which ameliorates these defects. This coating turns units that may have been discarded into premium ones, enabling a near-100-percent yield out of the run. The sand-casting process produces faintly perceptible irregularities that enhance the Garrison’s tactility.
Garrison 1-51 is available exclusively at Maison Gerard.

We purchased this home that hadn't had much of an opportunity to have been revitalized throughout the years, therefore, had grown old and tired. We were excited at the vision of what it could be! Through a 5 month process we renovated and refurbished this home with updated bathrooms, kitchen, flooring, ceilings, and exterior work, and fully new windows and french door to create the indoor/outdoor living. Added on a new guest bathroom and laundry room, skylights, and elegant chandeliers and further updated the electrical, plumbing and A/C and heating units. The end product was magnificently elegant with a breathtaking kitchen, modern bathrooms, with a distinct contrast in flooring materials used that left an impressive impression for everyone that toured the property. The before and after pictures of the facade of the property were so contrasting that people who had previously seen pictures of the property or the property itself had a hard time recognizing it when driving by. This project was a huge success for our company and created the elevated energy for all that were involved, including the upliftment of the neighborhood.

How AI is Revolutionizing Bathroom and Kitchen Renovations in 2025
The renovation industry is entering a new era — and it’s powered by artificial intelligence. For decades, bathroom and kitchen makeovers required weeks of back-and-forth planning, consultations, and budgeting. But in 2025, AI bathroom design and AI kitchen renovation tools are transforming the experience, making it faster, smarter, and far more personalized.
A Smarter Way to Renovate
Traditional renovation processes are known for being time-consuming and stressful. From collecting measurements to selecting products and coordinating contractors, homeowners are often left overwhelmed. That’s where AI comes in — simplifying every step of the journey.
Using platforms like the Allreno app, homeowners can now scan their space with a smartphone, instantly generate a 3D model, and receive personalized layout suggestions. The app’s AI engine automatically recommends styles, color palettes, and materials that match your preferences — saving hours of guesswork.
AI Bathroom Design: A Game-Changer
Designing a bathroom used to mean working with spreadsheets, mood boards, and several design consultations. Today, AI bathroom design streamlines this process into minutes. Tools like Allreno analyze space dimensions, plumbing positions, lighting conditions, and user style inputs to generate design proposals that are not only beautiful but also practical and code-compliant.
Homeowners can preview their dream bathroom in realistic 3D, adjust fixtures and finishes, and even get instant price estimates — all before a single tile is laid.
AI Kitchen Renovation: Built for Speed and Precision
AI kitchen renovation takes things even further. AI models can detect where cabinetry fits best, suggest storage optimizations, and align design with ergonomic principles. Whether you’re planning a sleek modern kitchen or a cozy traditional space, AI delivers layouts that balance aesthetics with function.
Allreno’s smart design engine can pull directly from product inventories, ensuring the designs you see are not only buildable but immediately available — reducing delays and backorders.
Empowering Professionals and Homeowners
What makes AI-powered home renovation truly powerful is how it bridges the gap between homeowners and professionals. Contractors, designers, and suppliers can now work with exact specifications and visuals shared directly through platforms like Allreno, eliminating miscommunication and ensuring smoother execution.
This also means cost savings. With AI managing space planning, product selection, and budgeting, professionals spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time delivering quality craftsmanship.
The Rise of Smart Home Remodels
The trend toward smart home remodels is also being fueled by AI. Renovation projects now consider how your bathroom or kitchen connects with your smart lighting, voice assistants, or energy-efficient systems. Allreno helps integrate this tech seamlessly into your renovation plan, future-proofing your investment.
Why Allreno Is Leading the AI Renovation Movement
The Allreno app is at the forefront of this AI-driven shift. It’s not just a design tool — it’s a full renovation ecosystem. By combining design automation, real-time pricing, local contractor matching, and AI-powered recommendations, Allreno makes renovation as easy as ordering a product online.

Antique Red Barnwood Paneling from Manomin Resawn Timbers covers the wall of this rustic mudroom, showing a soothing grey patina with a hint of that classic red barn color still coming through after decades of aging and weather. The rustic rust tones give the space real character, pairing perfectly with the ladder shelving, vintage-style sink, and lodge-inspired decor throughout the room.
This paneling is sourced from the quintessential big red barn that comes to mind when picturing the American farm. Having already stood the test of time in the sun, snow, rain, and temperature swings of the Midwest, these reclaimed wood planks are especially resistant to warping and shrinkage, making them a stable option for rugged, weather-worn paneling. Through our detailed process of denailing, kiln drying, and precision milling, we preserve that authentic red barn character while preparing the wood for a prominent place in a modern home.
Whether you are a homebuilder, a home remodeling contractor, or a homeowner shopping for paneling with real depth and history, Manomin Resawn Timbers has stunning reclaimed wood to suit your needs. Visit our showroom in Hugo, MN or reach out to us with a call or a message to discover the antique charm of reclaimed wood.
