When this Tuxedo NY homeowner decided on a 2-tone, modern design, she knew she needed to recruit a professional remodeler to bring her vision to life. Finding a way to transform the whole space while still getting the luxuries she wanted like a farmhouse sink and Cambria countertops in Cambria's Torquay was no small feat. We refaced in Suede Grey and Satin White, a popular trend that adds instant interest. The mosaic blended countertop of glass and stone ties the color scheme together. New metal bar stools button up the look and add another texture. With a nod to industrial modern design, this kitchen is a show stopper!

When this historic Petoskey home began its life in 1895, its residents couldn't possibly have imagined its future transformation. Only 50 feet from the old train tracks, it started as an apartment building for railroad employees. Throughout the past century, it retained its roots as a multi-family dwelling, but had fallen into despair. In 2013, it was purchased for its great location, charming exterior and its spectacular view of the lake, and recruited J.Cesario Builders to remodel the structure into a single family home.
An octagonal, three-story turret with full windows was added to the Northwest corner in order to capture the bay views.
The vision would take almost two years to complete, as the original scope of the project evolved from a partial remodel into a total home transformation.

Third-time repeat clients loved our work so much, they hired us to design their Ohio home instead of recruiting a local Ohio designer. All work was done remotely except for an initial meeting for site measure and initial consult, and then a second flight for final installation. All 6,000 square feet was decorated head to toe by J Hill Interiors, Inc., as well as new paint and lighting.

Ben is an experienced DIYer although he hadn’t ever done an IKEA kitchen design before.
“I wasn’t familiar with the product line, nor how to get started with the process. The design we came up with was largely our design, and we spent countless hours researching the door fronts, and of course decided on the VOXTORP doors in Walnut from IKEA. We find IKEA offers great quality for the money and we love the neat customization options.”
Ben does admit that he and his wife often second guessed their design decisions, however. Therefore, they recruited IKD to help them develop a layout that would work stylistically and functionally for their needs.
“Having an IKEA design expert from IKD provide additional insight was incredibly helpful for us to move forward though the process,” he says.”But as an avid DIYer I felt this was well within my realm to complete.”
And the design certainly was!
In fact, Ben says the installation process was seamless. He does mention that the plumbing and electrical was relocated to accommodate the IKEA kitchenette layout though.
“The overall experience of building the boxes was straight forward. Once you get the hang of doing one, they almost all go together about the same. It was a rewarding experience seeing everything come together,” he notes.

dale cohen designstudio has gathered her favorite artists, designers and purveyors in an installation at the Sag Harbor architectural landmark The Watchcase Project by Cape Advisors. Populating a Watchcase Townhouse with vibrant visual practitioners, Dale has composed a series of rooms that speak to the exquisite quality of space, light, and scale in the Watchcase Project. She has selected a group of artists mostly from the East End.
She has responded to the rooms, staircases, and walls by applying kinetic color and imagery with a contemporary take. And Dale recruited Annie Coggan and Caleb Crawford to do their own room they’ve named the Melville Room. They gathered a series of their work, a practice called Didactic Decorative Objects and inspired by the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum. Researching the work of Herman Melville, who speaks of Sag Harbor is his epic Moby Dick.
The art installation is accompanied by design greats, FritzHansen, Vitra, vintage Knoll and Swedish design company Overman, contemporary and vintage rugs by Doris Leslie Blau, mohair rug by Sacco, fabrics by Fischbacher for Stark and Knoll Luxe, and pillows from Maharam, all to make a dynamic conversation in a domestic setting.
This is not typical beach-house decor.
