Spacious Modern White Design Brings New Light to Busy Kitchen
For this busy family of Mclean, Virginia, converting a limited kitchen space to a modern kitchen space was a much desired and necessary upgrade. This kitchen space was limited by an adjacent laundry room and family room walls. By relocating the laundry room to the second floor, extra space opened up for the remodeled modern kitchen. Removal of the bearing wall between the kitchen and family room, allowed an increase of daylight into both spaces. The small windows of the previous kitchen and laundry room were replaced with a large picture window to allow maximum daylight to shine from the south side. Relocating the stove from the old island to a back wall and replacing the older island with a beautiful custom stained island provided extra seating capacity and expanded counter space for serving and cooking uses. Added to this gorgeous prize-winning kitchen were double stacked classic white cabinetry with glass display cabinets, along with lots of direct and indirect lighting and gorgeous pendant lights. A 48-inch gas oven range and large scale appliances contributed to this stunning modern kitchen space. New hardwood flooring with espresso low gloss finish created an endless look to the entire first floor space. Life is now grand with this new spacious kitchen space.

A young couple just bought their first townhouse in Herndon, VA. This is a 30-year-old home with no changes ever done to it.
Entering from the foyer, the living room is on the right side, followed by dining room on left back end and two partition wall separating kitchen on right back corner form rest of main level.
Both of this partition wall were bearing walls. Filled with duct chases and plumbing for second floor bathroom. The wall between the kitchen and dining room has a support beam embedded in it.
Their first wish was to modernize the space for their young and hip lifestyle.
Getting rid of all bulkheads, pantry closet, and partition walls. Plan was simple, yet very involved. The main trunk of HVAC was relocated through lower level garage and laundry and carried in a new chase to feed the second-floor bedrooms.
All plumbing soil stack was relocated int a false wall behind cabinetry.
Then implant two structure beams causing to open up to main level living room and dining room.
The sink and dishwasher were relocated to east wall, moving the kitchen window to left allowing placement on new fridge.
A big island was placed in middle of this space given them a place to serve and hang out.

We have added recess lights and pendent light to bright up this kitchen.
Designers have used dark cherry cabinetry with a sleek looking granite top, giving the couple a dream come through kitchen.

This charming kitchen now suits the lovely home it anchors. The original kitchen was a series of crossing traffic patterns, disjointed work areas with a basement staircase without a door smack in the middle of the room.
First, we relocated the door to the living room which was located where the double oven now stands. A new hinged French door allows light to flow from this bright space into the living room which was shortened by 18” to create the space for the kitchen. Now the traffic from the side door and garage by passes the work area of the kitchen into the house. Due to the brick exterior on the kitchen side of the home, we did not relocate any windows but worked around the placement to great success.
By creating a “look through” from the kitchen into the family room, the kitchen keeps the cook connected with company and gives a view to the backyard to keep an eye on the family pup.
The view from the family room is a lovely scene of the kitchen. Panel molding was added to the family room side to connect to the recessed panels of the kitchen cabinets.
When we relocated the door to the living room, we created a return wall just long enough for the Mr. of the home to have his wish list item a small wet bar. We also were able to create a space for a pocket door adjacent to the bar which now closes off the basement stairs.
Opposite the bar, we designed a functional and beautiful hutch which stores extra plates, dishes, and serves as a pantry as well. Both the bar and the hutch are painted Hale Navy which is the perfect contrast to the white kitchen. An oval window replaced an old, antiquated double hung window and creates architectural interest to the eating area. The clients antique table was repurposed to function as an island when extra work space is needed. The client was extremely happy to have this heirloom piece become part of the finished kitchen.

The customer and E D Enterprises, Inc. were excited as the old soffits, wall, closets, and header were removed, as well as relocating the dining room door, to reveal and transform the space into an expansive new kitchen.
All electrical plumbing, and HVAC was relocated to comply with the village code.
Our skilled craftsmen installed all of the cabinetry, custom hood, and crown molding, as well.
A bar, (blue tone cabinet) was installed in the dinette area creating an attractive, functional area. Note the tile pattern back splash above the cook top and the brick pattern tile back splash below the glass door cabinet.
Recessed ceiling lights and under cabinet lighting were installed to illuminate the new work space.
