We remodeled the kitchen of this lovely 1950's Tujunga home. We reconfigured the kitchen with the removal of a large chimney and wall, creating an open concept layout between the kitchen, dining room, and living room. From the foyer of the home, there is now an open view of the kitchen from the living room. We removed 745 sq. of old oakwood flooring and replaced it with brand new oakwood in the kitchen. As a method to add more space, we added 172 sq. to create a nook for space to install stacked laundry units. The kitchen measures 17'5" by 18'5" and the kitchen island measure 8'3" by 5". We installed a brand new set of white shaker cabinets, gray solid surface countertops, and a beautiful white marble countertop on the island. The kitchen island can seat five people, it has a built-in wine cooler, and beautiful modern fixtures that float above the island. We also installed a brand new stovetop, hood range, dishwasher, double sink bowl, and a 3-way light dimmer switch. For lighting upgrades, we installed 12 new recessed lighting cans and an under cabinet light strip.

This project is a great example of how the addition of a well-designed and considered balustrade can vastly improve an existing staircase and landing, without the need to replace or damage any of the already in-situ finishes.
The clients already had a firm idea of the aesthetic they wanted and engaged us to come up with a method to achieve it without creating any disruption to an already finished and painted staircase.
After a detailed survey and studying the structural plans of the building, we were able to fully manufacture and powder-coat everything off-site, and simply bolt on to the existing staircase and landing structure in a single visit. This managed to leave no damage or disruption to the property, meaning no remedial work for our clients after we had finished.
The balustrade itself was manufactured from a mild steel flat bar and welded to a steel channel, which we bolted to the staircase, and a steel angle bracket, which we fixed to the landing. It was all tied together with a continuous thin round steel bar that was drilled through the top of each upright for rigidity, as well as a flat steel handrail to match the uprights. It was then powder-coated matte white to help it blend in with the walls and ceilings.

Diagnostic Service Call | Gilbert, AZ
Client: Ganesh
Location: Gilbert, AZ
Scope of Work: No-cool diagnostic, electrical troubleshooting, referral to licensed electrician
Ganesh called us because his system would click but never actually start up. The indoor fan ran and moved air, but no cooling ever came.
That symptom points in a few different directions, so our technician worked through the system methodically. The outdoor condenser unit was not receiving high voltage power at all. Tracing it back, the breaker serving that system had failed.
Here is where we stopped. A failed breaker is electrical panel work, which belongs with a licensed electrician rather than an HVAC technician. We explained the finding to Ganesh, told him exactly what to have the electrician do, and left it there.
We could have kept looking for something to sell. The honest answer was that his HVAC equipment was fine and the problem sat upstream of it.
Once the breaker is replaced, we are happy to come back and verify the system is operating properly.
Ganesh, thank you for calling us out and for the straightforward conversation.

DESIGN + INNOVATION: Award of Excellence and GREEN DESIGN CITATION
PROJECT: RE_VIEW
CLIENT: CMU School of Architecture, CMU BxA Staff, Bloomfield Garfield Corporation
ARCHITECTURE FIRM: Urban Design Build Studio

This purposeful innovation to makes existing houses more useable and livable. The jury also awarded the Green Design Citation to the project because it can repurpose and bring new value to existing housing, offering an alternative to demolition and replacement.

More than five years after Gallegos first looked at preliminary drawings and provided budgets for a private residence in Vail, Colorado, the project is complete and is a stunning representation of modern architecture and masonry craftsmanship.
The owners desired their home to be appointed with hand selected, one-of-a-kind materials that would withstand the test of time. Meant to entertain guests as though they were at a five-star resort, the residence features a spa, massage rooms, glass pool and exquisite views of the Gore Range.
The contractor asked Gallegos to provide pricing and expert guidance on material selections and installation methods for the stucco, exterior stone veneer, and interior marbles, granites, and exotic stones. Their work is prevalent in all rooms and decks of this stunning residence.
The exterior stone veneer was sourced out of China, something Gallegos has done numerous times without issues. This time was different. About halfway through the exterior stone fabrication and installation, China closed the quarry, declaring that it was in a tourist region. This sent Gallegos scrambling, with forty percent of the exterior cladding installation complete and no budget to
remove and replace the installed material. They were extremely lucky to find a similar material in Vietnam that was close enough in color and texture to blend in with the original material and not lose time.
The interior stones and other exterior and interior materials were primarily sourced through suppliers in Italy. The natural marbles and granites were installed in either a vein match or a book match pattern.
