The first thing you notice about this property is the stunning views of the mountains, and our clients wanted to showcase this. We selected pieces that complement and highlight the scenery. Our clients were in love with their brown leather couches, so we knew we wanted to keep them from the beginning. This was the focal point for the selections in the living room, and we were able to create a cohesive, rustic, mountain-chic space. The home office was another critical part of the project as both clients work from home. We repurposed a handmade table that was made by the client’s family and used it as a double-sided desk. We painted the fireplace in a gorgeous green accent to make it pop. Finding the balance between statement pieces and statement views made this project a unique and incredibly rewarding experience. This 1850's Farmhouse received a large addition to accommodate a new kitchen and large walk-in pantry along with a large sunroom. Several vintage items that were originally found in the home were repurposed and utilized in the new spaces along with some found items and new items that have a period look and feel. The key goal of this space was to incorporate this large addition and new kitchen into the existing home and make it feel as if it had always been there.

Multifunctional Laundry and Office space. Layered rugs, plants, and granite with a repurposed vanity for a deep laundry sink bring outside colors inside. We cut a hole in the wall next to the sink to fit the washer and dryer into a handy safe saving space. We turned the closet next to the fireplace into an office cove with matching granite.

Located in a historical district, this new home fits right in with its 120+ year old neighbors. The front walkway is made up of reclaimed bricks while bluestone pavers line the walkway from the house to the garage adjacent to the driveway. A gas lantern lamp decorates the yard along the walkway. The front porch is constructed of classic tongue and groove mahogany complete with traditional soft blue hue ceiling. The garage doors resemble authentic carriage house doors.

A once dilapidated shed was converted into this fun, modern residence in the historical district of downtown Bend. The abandoned building had served as a neighborhood garage when it was originally constructed in the 1930's. Abiding by the historic district regulations, the new hoe was designed to replicate the original facade with three sliding doors that create a shared indoor/outdoor living space. Original planks of siding, pylons and floor joists were repurposed throughout. An open floor plan with a Malm fireplace further enhances the mid-century feel. The home is modest in size but the high ceilings and light interiors make the space feel generous and inviting. Winner of the High Desert Design Competition in 2016 and the Building a Better Central Oregon Award in 2017.

From CDK Architects: This is a new home that replaced an existing 1949 home in Rosedale. The design concept for the new house is “Mid Century Modern Meets Modern.” This is clearly a new home, but we wanted to give reverence to the neighborhood and its roots. It was important to us to re-purpose the old home. Rather than demolishing it, we worked with our contractor to disassemble the house piece by piece, eventually donating about 80% of the home to Habitat for Humanity. The wood floors were salvaged and reused on the new fireplace wall. The home contains 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, plus a home office and a music studio, totaling 2,650 square feet. One of the home’s most striking features is its large vaulted ceiling in the Living/Dining/Kitchen area. Substantial clerestory windows provide treetop views and bring dappled light into the space from high above. There’s natural light in every room in the house. Balancing the desire for natural light and privacy was very important, as was the connection to nature. What we hoped to achieve was a fun, flexible home with beautiful light and a nice balance of public and private spaces. We also wanted a home that would adapt to a growing family but would still fit our needs far into the future. The end result is a home with a calming, organic feel to it.
