This unique space, an underground, under the house custom wine cellar built by Vintage Cellars, truly showcases the ability to transform any unused space in the house into a magnificent wine room, no matter what the size. This wine cellar utilized dark stain on the Walnut racking to further increase the underground cellar feel. Jake at Vintage Cellars along with the owners of the home collaborated to create multiple spaces within the wine cellar itself- an area for bottle storage as well as a separate wine room space for decanting and pouring wine, as well as social get-togethers. Within the social wine room, a credenza style cabinet has been utilized for white wine and champagne storage. A compact kitchen design requires astute space planning to maximize the available storage and workspace. Base corner cabinets incorporate lazy susans, and have matching upper diagonal wall cabinets. Every space is utilized, including a small storage are in the base cabinet next to the dishwasher. The stainless sink includes an offset faucet in a matching finish, that also complements the stainless appliances and hood. The renovation of this mid-1980's Cape Elizabeth home was for a family with three young children. It focused on renovating three main areas: the kitchen, which was a dark and gloomy space with little natural light; the attic space over the garage, also very dark and limited in use by the existing roof shape; and the most-used entrance of the house: a mudroom connecting to the main house and providing access to the rooms over the garage. Other renovations included the master bathroom and 1st floor powder room. The newly-created space over the garage required a large gabled dormer on the driveway side, and long shed dormer on the backyard side of the former attic. In addition to being a playroom and media room, the new space also includes a large, sunny guest room , full bathroom. and special “perch” at the top of the stairs. This wine cellar's wine racking has many versatile features to store different sizes and styles of wines and wine bottles, such as tiered coved trays for large format wine bottles, high reveal display rows, individual bottle storage, Original Wooden Cases, and custom cabinetry. The unique shape and design of this room required a skilled contractor like Vintage Wine Cellars to design and create a completely custom wine cellar - perfectly fit to the shape and flow of the room. This kitchen designed for the Junior League of Buffalo 2017 Decorator Showhouse was a full gut of the space. There were plumbing and HVAC pipes in the space that required custom modifications to cabinetry. Part of the hearth has a false back on the cabinet to accommodate some of the pipes. Additionally, the 10’ ceilings required a custom combination of cabinets and crown molding to reach the ceiling. The space contained 4 doorways so the use of angled cabinetry allowed for easier access in and out of the space. The room includes special design features such as the wood hearth to house the ventilation for over the range, custom under cabinet lighting and a wet bar housing a beverage center and an appliance for growing microgreens.

To meet these demands, OMNIA dispensed with conventional historicist styles and created an open plan blended with traditional forms punctuated by vast rows of glass windows and doors to bring in the panoramic views of Lambertville, the bridge, the wooded opposite bank and the river. Mann adds, "Because I too live along the river, I have a special respect for its ever changing beauty - and I appreciate that riverfront structures have a responsibility to enhance the views from those on the water." Hence the riverside facade is as beautiful as the street facade. A sweeping front porch integrates the entry with the vibrant pedestrian streetscape. Low garden walls enclose a beautifully landscaped courtyard defining private space without turning its back on the street.
