The color scheme of this interior is based on pleasant and timeless shades: white, deep blue, and wood color. Since they resonate with the natural elements, thematically corresponding to different seasons and brightening the space, the interior turned out to be cheerful and light. Guided by the idea of the designers, our studio produced a furniture ensemble, which is expressed by storage modules at the entrance to the apartment and continues with the kitchen. The first blocks of this composition are a portal with a soft seat for changing shoes and cases for a boiler, meters, etc. All these compartments, as well as the kitchen that continues them, are made of painted MDF. After the team of the furniture studio DONNA and the interior designers decided on the color of the kitchen, they even jointly selected the floor tiles “in color”, which framed the entire working area of the kitchen and the entrance group of the apartment. By the way, the concrete column at the end of the kitchen was also sheathed with painted MDF by the craftsmen of the manufacturer DONNA, thus avoiding the fragmentation of the space and enhancing the energy of the heavenly color in the room. The kitchen worktop is made of a silky HPL panel from the Austrian production of FunderMax. The fittings used in the product are Blum, from Austria. As an additional place for cutting food and breakfasts, an irregularly shaped kitchen island is provided. In addition, according to the designers’ sketches, DONNA produced: a TV stand in the living room; a bed with 3D fabric and cabinet furniture for the bedroom; a mirror, peach pencil cases Pesca in the bathroom.

Step into the primary suite of my beloved home, The French Chateau. Designing bedrooms is always a very personal endeavor, and designing our own bedroom was no exception. The space must serve as a sanctuary, providing solace at the end of each day, while also uplifting and inspiring us each morning. However, the task always becomes more complex when we are designing a primary suite for two individuals who may not always share the same vision or aesthetic preferences; my husband and I are no different. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In crafting this space, I desired a room that would bring a smile to our faces whether we were entering or leaving. It needed to encompass beauty that resonated with my love for French, feminine design while also providing comfort for my husband, who has a preference for a richer, more masculine palette. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The design of this primary suite revolves around neutral colors, with a touch of blue—a hue that both of us appreciate—as an accent color. The indulgence of luxurious linens eagerly welcomes us, creating an anticipation for rest after long and bustling days. Throughout the room, you'll notice various cherished family photos adorning our dressers, capturing precious memories. Additionally, a captivating original painting graces a sidewall, showcasing our favorite place, the Jardin des Tuileries at the Louvre in Paris. With the ingenuity of our team we created an eye captivating custom designed 4K background scenery of wineries that scroll through the TVs providing an additional WOW factor to this already exquisite room. Motorized Shades Motorized shades were installed for the floor to ceiling windows. With easy to use controls, our client can enjoy amazing views or minimize harsh glare on the TVs. The shades are hidden inside custom soffits so they don’t distract from the beautiful view of the landscape or the exquisite design of the room. Savant Control System The Savant Control system was installed to provide our clients the ability and ease of controlling everything in one central location with one touch technology.

This project was such an incredible design opportunity, and instilled inspiration and excitement at every turn! Our amazing clients came to us with the challenge of converting their beloved family home into a welcoming haven for all members of the family. At the time that we met our clients, they were struggling with the difficult personal decision of the fate of the home. Their father/father-in-law had passed away and their mother/mother-in-law had recently been admitted into a nursing facility and was fighting Alzheimer’s. Resistant to loss of the home now that both parents were out of it, our clients purchased the home to keep in in the family. Despite their permanent home currently being in New Jersey, these clients dedicated themselves to keeping and revitalizing the house. We were moved by the story and became immediately passionate about bringing this dream to life. The home was built by the parents of our clients and was only ever owned by them, making this a truly special space to the family. Our goal was to revitalize the home and to bring new energy into every room without losing the special characteristics that were original to the home when it was built. In this way, we were able to develop a house that maintains its own unique personality while offering a space of welcoming neutrality for all members of the family to enjoy over time. The renovation touched every part of the home: the exterior, foyer, kitchen, living room, sun room, garage, six bedrooms, three bathrooms, the laundry room, and everything in between. The focus was to develop a style that carried consistently from space to space, but allowed for unique expression in the small details in every room. Starting at the entry, we renovated the front door and entry point to offer more presence and to bring more of the mid-century vibe to the home’s exterior. We integrated a new modern front door, cedar shingle accents, new exterior paint, and gorgeous contemporary house numbers that really allow the home to stand out. Just inside the entry, we renovated the foyer to create a playful entry point worthy of attention. Cement look tile adorns the foyer floor, and we’ve added new lighting and upgraded the entry coat storage. Upon entering the home, one will immediately be captivated by the stunning kitchen just off the entry. We transformed this space in just about every way. While the footprint of the home ultimately remained almost identical, the aesthetics were completely turned on their head. We re-worked the kitchen to maximize storage and to create an informal dining area that is great for casual hosting or morning coffee. We removed the entry to the garage that was once in the informal dining, and created a peninsula in its place that offers a unique division between the kitchen/informal dining and the formal dining and living areas. The simple light warm light gray cabinetry offers a bit of traditional elegance, along with the marble backsplash and quartz countertops. We extended the original wood flooring into the kitchen and stained all floors to match for a warmth that truly resonates through all spaces. We upgraded appliances, added lighting everywhere, and finished the space with some gorgeous mid century furniture pieces. In the formal dining and living room, we really focused on maintaining the original marble fireplace as a focal point. We cleaned the marble, repaired the mortar, and refinished the original fireplace screen to give a new sleek look in black. We then integrated a new gas insert for modern heating and painted the upper portion in a rich navy blue; an accent that is carried through the home consistently as a nod to our client’s love of the color. The former entry into the old covered porch is now an elegant glass door leading to a stunning finished sunroom. This room was completely upgraded as well. We wrapped the entire space in cozy white shiplap to keep a casual feel with brightness. We tiled the floor with large format concrete look tile, and painted the old brick fireplace a bright white. We installed a new gas burning unit, and integrated transitional style lighting to bring warmth and elegance into the space. The new black-frame windows are adorned with decorative shades that feature hand-sketched bird prints, and we’ve created a dedicated garden-ware “nook” for our client who loves to work in the yard. The far end of this space is completed with two oversized chaise loungers and overhead lights…the most perfect little reading nook! Just off the dining room, we created an entirely new space to the home: a mudroom. The clients lacked this space and desperately needed a landing spot upon entering the home from the garage. We uniquely planned existing space in the garage to utilize for this purpose, and were able to create a small but functional entry point without losing the ability to park cars in the garage. This new space features cement-look tile, gorgeous deep brown cabinetry, and plenty of storage for all the small items one might need to store while moving in and out of the home. The remainder of the upstairs level includes massive renovations to the guest hall bathroom and guest bedroom, upstairs master bed/bath suite, and a third bedroom that we converted into a home office for the client. Some of the largest transformations were made in the basement, where unfinished space and lack of light were converted into gloriously lit, cozy, finished spaces. Our first task was to convert the massive basement living room into the new master bedroom for our clients. We removed existing built-ins, created an entirely new walk-in closet, painted the old brick fireplace, installed a new gas unit, added carpet, introduced new lighting, replaced windows, and upgraded every part of the aesthetic appearance. One of the most incredible features of this space is the custom double sliding barn door made by a Denver artisan. This space is truly a retreat for our clients! We also completely transformed the laundry room, back storage room, basement master bathroom, and two bedrooms. This home’s massive scope and ever-evolving challenges were thrilling and exciting to work with, and the result is absolutely amazing. At the end of the day, this home offers a look and feel that the clients love. Above all, though, the clients feel the spirit of their family home and have a welcoming environment for all members of the family to enjoy for years to come.

One important element with any design project is the development of a "design path" (or "color path"), that creates a coherent, well-planned look for the entire space. Oftentimes this is called a "color board" and all the swatches, finishes and fabrics are laid out together to see the entire room (or entire home) and how all the design elements coordinate and work together. In kitchen design, this includes wall paint colors, cabinetry finish colors, flooring, countertops, and tile along with appliance, plumbing, and hardware finishes. For the interior design with a room or entire home, it includes furnishings and other surfaces as well. The idea is to create a cohesive look for the entire space. To create a color path for your home or remodeling project, begin with your neutral colors and then select the other colors for your space. The colors you select may be based on your existing furnishings, a favorite piece of art, or simply colors that resonate to you. In order to create a visually appealing space, let this color page guide your color selections going forward. Neutral colors (gray, beige, taupe or white) will usually be the background palette with 1-3 other dominant colors layered. For contemporary or transitional designs, oftentimes a sleek, neutral palette is selected and it's important for all colors to be consistent with this palette. For this soft contemporary kitchen, a neutral palette of gray wood-tone (Weathered "A" finish on Oak) with white-gray paint, stainless and black appliances were selected and then carefully blended throughout the home for a clean, sleek appearance. Once the "color path" was selected, the cabinetry was specified in the appropriate colors and all of the surfaces, soft goods, plateware, and accent pieces were selected to coordinate. They wanted to make it into a focal feature of their yard allowing them to entertain and capture there scenic view in ways that the previous configuration prevented. On this property, it made sense for the new spa to be on the uphill side adjacent to the master bedroom -- not only for convenience but also for enjoying the views, and allowing us to overflow the spa so that the water could return downhill back to the pool. This is where the cylindrical glass tile “jewel” is situated. The vibrant color of glass was chosen to compliment (be the opposite of, in order to visually resonate and create a higher energy feel) with the ocher seen in the natural stone palette that the house gave us as precedent. Once the spas location was decided, the best views enjoyed by this property are located where the chaise lounges are now in the finished design. The previous pool occupied the space, and this prime area could not be accessed at all! Our second order of business was to carve out a destination space from the previous pool and give it back to be a furniture area for entertaining. Locating the chaise lounger deck across the pool presented a challenge that became a fun opportunity not to be passed up. The overflowing spa water had to return to the pool somehow, and the flowing water had to be crossed over to get to the Chaise lounge viewing deck. The solution? A bridge of course! And with the stairs ascending up to the spa, why not have a stairway like water feature underneath the bridge? The final touch on this design was omitting the weak and poorly executed vanishing edge, which had a horizon line finishing right into the rooftops of the homes below. Not the best aesthetic! To block the roof lines of the homes below and direct your eyes up to the mountain peaks beyond, a stone clad raised planter became the central focal point of the yard, allowing us to create a beautiful agave, yucca, and cacti display to be enjoyed from every angle of the home. Altogether the new configuration really plays off the angular shapes of the home, extends the pallet of materials around the yard, and makes the new space all that more enjoyable for the owners private and public entertainment.

The plan for this sensational residence was the original creation of Ken Andersen and his associates at the venerable firm of R.S. Granoff Architects. After enjoying their beautiful home for eight years, the owners felt the time had arrived to expand and enhance their outside living space, and to complement it with an elegant conservatory. Naturally, they turned to Ken for inspiration, who to our gratitude called on the Renaissance Design Team to assist in bringing his plan and his clients’ dreams to fruition. Meeting an exceptionally tight completion schedule was but one of many challenges for this fast-track job. Thanks to the cooperation of every participant, first-shovel to completion was accomplished in an incredibly short twelve weeks; all with minimal disruption to the family’s daily routine. Ken Andersen’s relentless attention to the many intricacies clearly resonates in the glorious finished product. GOALS: • Create a conservatory garden room from which to savor the seasonal splendor of the home’s expansive yards. • Add a new stone patio and open air kitchen, easily accessible from the new conservatory’s dining area. • Provide access from the adjacent family room and the convenience of a direct pathway to the kitchen. • Eliminate the shared family room wall to enhance room size, traffic flow, and natural lighting. • Accomplish all this in a manner consistent with the home’s fine Tudor-inspired architecture. FEATURES: • The suggestion of traditional hewn timber frame construction through the use of chamfered pilasters, ceiling beams, and lantern rafters. • The warmth of naturally finished mahogany accentuating a painted beaded ceiling. • Delicately mullioned transom sash articulated in German Antique art glass with soldered copper cames. • Renaissance’s Signature Revival Series oiled bronze push-pull window hardware. • Concealed rolling insect screens with beaded head valences. • Raised paneling at the knee wall and light shaft, matching those found elsewhere in the home. • A venting roof lantern with motorized sash. • Copper roofing, gutters, spouting, and finial posts.

Employ a blend of organic and natural textures to foster a connection with nature. THE REMODEL Design challenges: Take full advantage of the vaulted ceiling Source unique marble that is more grounding than fanciful Design minimal, modern cabinetry with a natural, organic finish Offer a unique lighting plan to create a sexy, Zen vibe Design solutions: To highlight the vaulted ceiling, we extended the shower tile to the ceiling and added a skylight to bathe the area in natural light. Sourced unique marble with raw, chiseled edges that provide a tactile, earthy element. Our custom-designed cabinetry in a minimal, modern style features a natural finish, complementing the organic theme. A truly creative layered lighting strategy dials in the perfect Zen-like atmosphere. The wavy protruding wall tile lights triggered our inspiration but came with an unintended harsh direct-light effect so we sourced a solution: bespoke diffusers measured and cut for the top and bottom of each tile light gap. THE RENEWED SPACE The homeowners dreamed of a tranquil, luxurious retreat that embraced natural materials and a captivating color scheme. Our collaborative effort brought this vision to life, creating a bathroom that not only meets the clients’ functional needs but also serves as a daily sanctuary. Custom concrete board-form walls, stone veneer, bluestone inlay, custom floating benches, and wood fence screening all installed in the courtyard space. Existing planters replanted, and a new driveway round out the complete change in the front yard.
