ShadeFX installed a 16’ x 16’ motorized retractable roof using a combination of Sunbrella fabric and Polycarbonate panels. A notch was crafted into the pergola to accommodate the brick chimney, allowing the structure to be flush to the home.

ShadeFX complemented the sophisticated pergola design by adding a beige waterproof retractable shade. The combination of painted hardware, reduced canopy drop and hidden cable stabilizers, make it appear as though the pergola and shade are a single cohesive unit.

This space is perfect for entertaining! When the owners originally moved in, this deck was not here. There were several steps down from the kitchen door, and the stone slabs were a toe-stubbing minefield. We added the deck and designed it perfectly for entertaining. Since we had several large pine trees removed from the property, we increased sun exposure creating a need for more shade. We had this awning custom made by PJ Canvas in Santa Rosa, CA. The awning tucks neatly under the roof of the house during the rainy months.

ShadeFX worked with the architect from the design stages and specified three 20’x10’ motorized retractable shades to cover the homeowners’ new outdoor dining and barbecue area. The combination of a reduced canopy drop, custom brackets and neutral-toned canopy fabric completes the traditional look of the outdoor patio area.

Although there are several pergola kit retrofit products that meet most of their goals, none of them were a good fit by matching all. The desire was for a retractable patio awning that aesthetically matched a pergola, but was retractable, and provided protection from both UV and inclement weather on their south facing patio.
