After finalizing the layout for their new build, the homeowners hired SKP Design to select all interior materials and finishes and exterior finishes. They wanted a comfortable inviting lodge style with a natural color palette to reflect the surrounding 100 wooded acres of their property. http://www.skpdesign.com/inviting-lodge
SKP designed three fireplaces in the great room, sunroom and master bedroom. The two-sided great room fireplace is the heart of the home and features the same stone used on the exterior, a natural Michigan stone from Stonemill. With Cambria countertops, the kitchen layout incorporates a large island and dining peninsula which coordinates with the nearby custom-built dining room table. Additional custom work includes two sliding barn doors, mudroom millwork and built-in bunk beds. Engineered wood floors are from Casabella Hardwood with a hand scraped finish. The black and white laundry room is a fresh looking space with a fun retro aesthetic.

This home office was dubbed the library, due to its built in bookshelves and handsome wood paneling. The client loves textures, and there is an abundance of it here. The desk has a concrete top, the ceiling solitaire fixtures the same.
The walls are covered in a rich gray grasscloth from Phillip Jeffries, that warms the room. RL Linen drapery block the glare when needed. A washable rug grounds the room, in case of accidents when snacking at his desk.
The room doubles as a guest room, the performance linen covered sleep sofa impervious to spills. It's a great place to curl up with a book and a fluffy throw.

SF fam ?—Castro lofts or Mission studios feeling like a Tetris game? Meet your new “small space storage bible”:
1. Vertical Wall Theft: Ditch wasted square footage. Grab reclaimed wood shelves (vintage finds from Buffalo Exchange) for pots/spices—saves half the space of overhead cabinets.
2. Attic “Fold & Transform”: Sloped ceilings suck? Snag a foldable wooden stool-ladder (Target’s retro-industrial pick)—fold it for steps, unfold it as extra seating, and stash 3 storage bins no problem.

The Sussex collection in Heirloom Bronze is the perfect versatile 3-light chandelier to add a touch of style to any room. Available in various styles, as seen in the one light pendant in the background.

The mudroom received an updated palette that suited the coastal area, with fresh whites and navy. New sconces were added, as well as durable rugs for this high-traffic area that has entries from the back, front and garage. Additional storage was added with a free-standing bench seat, a great place to pull on boots in the winter. Pillows and local art soften the space. Custom hooks were designed to mark each cubby for Mom, Dad, Thing 1 & Thing 2.

The dining room already had a beamed ceiling with painted vintage embossed wallpaper. We added this beautiful vinyl to the walls in a slate blue with modern trellis pattern that suited both the homeowner's tastes. It's washable and adds a perfect sheen to lend a little formality.
The trim was given a fresh coat of paint and the fireplace accented in Benjamin Moore's Coventry Grey. A sputnik pendant adds a touch of mid-century glam, juxtaposing the rustic table. The dining table was commissioned locally of reclaimed barnwood. The chairs are of navy tweed, a durable fabric to withstand many family dinners for years to come. A buffet was added to use as a serveboard, as well as provide additional storage. The rug is a durable poly that will withstand spills better than wool.

A tribute to the elegant interpretation of the classic!
For the living room on the first floor we choose Classic with high-grade gray + dark blue + orange. The calm and orange single product under the dark blue tone highlights the space and draws some artistic inspirations from the Middle World Renaissance into the space, plain and soft The decoration enhances the breathing of the space, and the retro style makes the space more artistic. Modern furniture is given more texture, and exquisite ornaments are transformed into a new art trend. The black and white elements of classic patterns ignite the atmosphere of the space.
