The homeowner's had been living with inefficient and worn-out cabinetry in their 1970's ranch. They had remodeled other spaces in their home and were now ready to take on their kitchen remodel themselves. We found cabinetry that was well made and within their budget and developed a plan for the stages of their remodel. Appliances, lighting and fixtures remained in their original location. The cabinetry was fitted with robust storage solutions to organize everything in a functional layout. The vinyl flooring was replaced with beautiful hardwood. The dynamic pattern gives this kitchen a lovely focal point.

Nestled in the heart of Jackson Heights this large condo went from dark, old and drab to bright, contemporary and fab. It’s designed with a neutral pallet, incorporating pops of color throughout and occasional instances of distressed leather and reclaimed wood for warmth and character.
The large, light-flooded living space home to both the living room and dining room is perfect for entertaining which is very important to the client. The living room provides 3 different seating options all with very different experiences but the same comfort and luxury. The seating is accompanied by Aged Brass and Shagreen nesting coffee tables and Marble side tables for resting a cocktail or kicking up one’s feet while enjoying a movie on the oversized wall mounted television. The low profile walnut media console is the perfect addition of warmth to the space. With so many amazing furniture and decor pieces, it’s hard to play favorite but we think the oversized photograph imported from Morocco is the real showstopper.
Right off of the living room, the dining room is simple, clean, warm and elegant. The brass and glass globe linear chandelier shines bright above a farm-style solid wood table for 8. Brass framed antique mirror, potted succulents with quartz crystal, and a gallery wall showcasing special moments make this space perfect for the family to gather around while enjoying a home cooked meal made in the Galley Chef's Kitchen nearby.
White cabinets and a cream colored pearlescent herringbone backsplash keep the narrow kitchen space open and airy. Navy base cabinets with brass hardware throughout add a touch of elegance and personality. Carrying the theme of clean and contemporary with a touch of warmth, reclaimed shelving above the farmhouse apron sink showcase some of the client’s favorite glassware and artifacts from travel. Wild View Farm includes a new “Forever home” (we deconstructed an existing house with a 90% landfill diversion rate), and enhancements to several working barns. The 80 acre site was an original homestead farm from the 1890’s. Both its buildings and soil had become severely degraded. The owners are working to holistically restore this property and make it a model of modern regenerative farming. They are planting hundreds of trees, re-introducing livestock and working with Dryland Agroecology Research and High Plains Permaculture to restore the soil.
The -51 HERS rated home is not just energy-efficient - it’s a model of “Regenerative design”. The deep green house design included multiple challenges – foremost was how to create a Passive Solar design that also took full advantage of the massive views to the West. We solved it with an L shaped building that optimized passive and active solar strategies on the south face, then actively protected the western facade with a giant covered porch and tuned glazing. The home’s leading-edge energy package includes a Ground source heat pump, a large roof-mounted solar PV array, battery back-up, EV chargers, and Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), Energy Star Appliances and windows, a robust foam insulation shell and LED lighting.
We also endeavored to craft a modern day interpretation of the farmhouse typology, with a low-slung simple gable-roofed form that would feel like it’s always been there. The exterior material palette of limestone, cementitious stucco and heavy timber gives it a rich Colorado Modern Farmhouse feel. The home is full of custom details like walls of vaulted glass to capture the sweeping mountain views, an AI Smart Home control system, a sleeping loft for kids and guests, a hard-working Butler’s Pantry, a gourmet outdoor kitchen, a pool & spa, a cozy office nook for reading, and a lovely built-in bench for morning coffee. Phase 2 of this project will include a Farmworker ADU and a full renovation of the existing historic barn.

Violet-colored Liatris Spicata (Gayfeather):
Gayfeather (tall purple plant on the left) is an extremely easy plant to grow. is an extremely easy plant to grow. It blooms in late summer and grows from corms that sprout in spring. Part of the sunflower family, it, too, is native to North America. It likes full sun, well-drained soils; it attract birds and butterflies, and is an ideal perennial.
Because the Gayfeather often grows to a robust 2-4’ feet tall, it may require staking or some other support.

Green Hammer worked with the client and real estate agent to find a home to renovate to their goals and budget. This 1930’s Alameda house had a robust structure, but the interior was a series of compromised disjointed remodel projects. The clients wanted a contemporary design that could blend with the historic neighborhood. In addition to creating an elegant contemporary design, we air-sealed, added deep insulation, and integrated heat recovery ventilation to reduce energy consumption by 80%.

This addition in the Sunset District of San Francisco was a very traditional design. The kitchen was designed around the refurbished vintage stove. The tall ceilings allowed clerestory windows to let in natural light. Custom Cabinetry and a little trim above the upper cabinets gave it a little flair. Black honed Granite was a more robust substitute for slate.

The kitchen showcases sleek Conestoga Blanco 619 panel cabinets, constructed from robust 3/4 domestic plywood. These upper cabinets are 42 inches tall, maximizing storage space and enhancing the modern aesthetic. Lower cabinets are designed exclusively with drawers, increasing accessibility and efficiency in kitchen organization. A unique hidden cabinet in the last right upper unit offers discrete storage, and an absence of a light valance ensures a sleek, seamless installation. The cabinet above the refrigerator features an upward-opening mechanism for ease of access. A custom hood over the stove and a convenient pot filler faucet further enhance the kitchen’s functionality. The inclusion of tunable white under-cabinet lighting from Hafele Loox 5 allows for adjustable color temperatures, catering to different activities and times of day, thus melding practicality with custom ambiance. Equipped with LG's Signature series stove and refrigerator, this kitchen embodies modern functionality and style.

Elegantly designed and robustly constructed, the rectangular-shaped Firebox 900SS uses less space than a traditional fireplace, allowing interior designers, builders and homeowners greater placement options and design flexibility.
Free from traditional installation restrictions such as plumbing, roof work, gas or electricity connections make it the perfect heating solution for high-rise or basement installations.

Inspired by the client’s frequent trips to Martha’s Vineyard, this renovation project’s primary goal was to create a landscape complimentary of this Colonial Revival style home, reminiscent of Edgartown, Massachusetts.
The front landscape was specifically designed to offer expansive views of a layered horizontal foundation planting that nestled itself around the base of the home, allowing the home itself to be the star of the show. Flowering borders that rotate with the seasons create a strong foreground while a clipped yew hedge forms the barrier needed to separate the billowing panicle hydrangeas in the background. The axial design of the herringbone front walk, punctuated by a bluestone transitional space and formal cast limestone urn, create an axis by which all other landscape elements are symmetrically mirrored.
Desiring a rear entertainment space separated from the adjacent 4 car garage and recreational lawn, a series of intimate gathering spaces were designed to include Edgartown inspired architectural features that would establish the character of the garden while setting the backdrop for a robust mix of perennials, grasses, hedges and annuals. Mimicking the pattern and detail previously established on the stone base of the home, individually hand chiseled pieces of Valders veneer were used to construct the garden walls. Reclaimed street pavers border a reconfigured bluestone patio and create a garden walk that separates the garden into 4 equal quadrants; each section of the walk connecting itself to a prominent feature of the garden. The central paver transition space is backed by a concentric hedge of low growing boxwoods, delineating annual and perennial. The relocation of an arbor, in conjunction with a new evergreen hedge, creates the desired partition between relaxed conversation and open lawn activities. A brick masonry water feature with reclaimed 1916 antique cast iron tub anchors the garden and terminates the perennial adorned paver walk opposite the home’s fireplace centered within the main seating area.
Whether spending an evening with friends or a quiet moment alone, this quaint garden space offers our clients the perfect ambiance to pause and reflect on life’s special treasures.

This design is in a house that almost didn’t happen.
After two decades of cherished memories within its walls, the decision to sell their comfortable, albeit aging, home and embark on the ambitious journey of building their dream house felt like a natural progression for the homeowners..
Their current house, a testament to years of family life, had served them well, but the vision of a custom-built sanctuary, tailored to their every desire, had long captured their imaginations. With floor plans finalized and the lot secured, they confidently listed their established home, anticipating a smooth transition to their future home. However, the real estate market, it seemed, had other plans. Almost immediately after their listing went live, a wave of instability swept through the local market. Multiple offers, which initially seemed promising, began to unravel for various reasons, leaving the homeowners in a state of mounting frustration and doubt.
Each failed negotiation chipped away at their optimism, leading them to confide in their builder that they were seriously considering withdrawing from the new house project altogether. It felt as though their dream was slipping through their fingers, a beautiful vision that might remain just that – a dream. Just as they were steeling themselves to pull their current home off the market, a ray of hope emerged.
A remarkable buyer, seemingly out of nowhere, submitted a robust and appealing offer. The timing was uncanny, a lifeline thrown at the eleventh hour. With the offer now ratified and the wheels of their existing home's sale finally turning, the couple’s focus shifted back to their dream home. The builders, who had patiently weathered their wavering commitment, were now on track to complete the project. And so, in May of 2025, the keys to their meticulously crafted dream home were finally handed over. The following month, the homeowners joyfully moved into their new sanctuary, a testament to their perseverance and the unexpected turn of events that ultimately made their vision a reality.
