New Year, new home remodeling inspiration. A few years have now passed since we were spending more time in our homes than ever before, but our day-to-day routines have seemed to change for good (or at least for the foreseeable future), so why not start updating your home to reflect your new way of life. Here are some of our favorite home remodeling trends for 2023.

For a family who routinely has 40+ family member get-togethers, an upscale house that feels grand but well enjoyed was top priority. We updated the kitchen, living room, dining room, guest house and bathroom in this custom renovation. The kitchen hosts two islands for ideal functionality for large gatherings, and flow out to the pool in summer months. Custom cabinetry hides the dishwashers, and refrigerator drawers. The stained beams in the guest house match the kitchen for a cohesive feel. The shiplap and custom stained wet bar cabinetry bring formality while the zero entry pool bath is whimsical and fun.

This primary bathroom remodel was designed with timeless style and everyday functionality in mind. The original space lacked sufficient storage and included an oversized tub that went unused, limiting both efficiency and comfort.
By squaring up the shower footprint and reworking the layout, we were able to create a more balanced and intentional design. A custom double vanity provides generous storage for daily routines, while a new linen cabinet ensures everything has a dedicated place. The updated layout maximizes every square foot, creating a primary bathroom that feels classic, organized, and thoughtfully tailored to this family’s needs.
We are grateful for the trust our clients placed in our team and honored to create a space that truly supports how they live.

Kitchen in Alyssa Lane | Key Feature: A complete kitchen + living room transformation designed for a young, growing family who loved their home, but needed it to work harder and reflect their personality. The updated kitchen became the heart of the home, featuring a hidden smoothie station to keep daily essentials out of sight, plus a dedicated cocktail bar setup for entertaining. In the living room, the fireplace wall was fully reimagined by centering the previously cornered fireplace and creating a multifunctional media wall with custom furnishings and a statement chandelier. To top it off, the former formal dining room was transformed into a bar lounge with custom brass shelving, a black grasscloth backdrop, and a bold, elevated vibe perfect for hosting friends and family.
Challenge: This home belonged to a young couple with two small kids and a growing business, and while they loved the house itself, the spaces didn’t support the way they actually lived. The kitchen lacked function and storage, everyday routines (like smoothie-making) created visual clutter, and cocktail entertaining essentials were being shoved into the pantry with no dedicated space. The living room also felt awkward and unfinished due to the cornered fireplace, which made it difficult to create a centered, functional media wall. On top of that, the formal dining room wasn’t being used, leaving valuable square footage underutilized and disconnected from their lifestyle and personality.
Solution: We redesigned the home around how the family truly uses it day-to-day, focusing on function, personality, and elevated livability. In the kitchen, we created a modern, highly organized layout complete with a hidden smoothie station so daily supplies stay accessible but out of sight. For entertaining, we designed a dedicated bar area for Ryan, giving him a more inspired space to make cocktails without relying on pantry storage. In the living room, we centered the fireplace and fully revamped the feature wall into a multifunctional entertainment/media wall, then layered in custom furniture pieces and a statement chandelier to bring warmth and style. Finally, we converted the unused formal dining room into a bar lounge with custom brass shelving, a striking black grasscloth wall, and a sophisticated hangout space perfect for entertaining family and friends.

Designed for repeat clients, this Overland Park remodel focused on improving function, flow, and everyday livability across multiple spaces.
In the kitchen, the layout was refined to create a more open and efficient environment. An enlarged island now serves as a central hub for cooking, gathering, and daily use, while ceiling-height cabinetry maximizes storage and creates a clean, built-in aesthetic. New hardwood flooring ties the space together, adding warmth and continuity.
A key transformation involved reconfiguring the layout to better support storage needs. By relocating the laundry room door, a dedicated pantry was introduced, significantly improving organization and accessibility. The adjacent laundry room was also updated, along with the addition of custom cubbies to streamline daily routines.
For a bold contrast, the powder bath was reimagined as a moody, speakeasy-inspired space, bringing depth, character, and a memorable design moment to the home.
The result is a cohesive, thoughtfully redesigned interior that enhances how the family lives day to day, balancing function, storage, and distinctive style.

The primary bath’s custom medicine cabinet and vanity are connected and almost fully installed. This combined standalone piece was designed by Studioteka with trusted millwork collaborators Capri executing the fabrication, and our wonderful builders Tumen assisting on electrical and plumbing. The cabinet has three doors, with hidden 170° soft close hinges, and mirror on both sides to allow for profile views in a variety of configurations at the client’s request. A beautiful Kuzco light fixture has been seamlessly integrated into the piece above the mirrors. The vanity will have the same integrated (and very tactile!) pull detail that we’ve developed for the doors and drawers on the other custom pieces we’ve created for the home. This piece was designed to incorporate a lot of storage, both inside as well as on open shelving along the wall, and the lower cabinet has a pull out tray for easy access. We even left room for a beloved antique upholstered seat at the counter for the client’s morning beauty and wellness routine. No stone was left unturned on this fantastic project, which we’ve developed with a lot of love. Stay tuned for more updates as we push towards the finish line!

Shyla dreamed of transforming her master bathroom into a serene sanctuary with a Turkish feel. She sought a space that would provide a peaceful retreat while addressing outdated features and limited functionality.
The outdated layout presented a challenge, but after a thoughtful design phase, a plan was developed to create a functional and visually stunning space.
A custom walk-in shower became the centerpiece of the design, combining style with functionality. Moroccan Mix in Azure brought vibrant charm to the accent wall, while Smooth White tiles provided a clean and elegant frame.
The Bay View hexagon tiles on the shower floor added character and a fun style, while a built-in bench and a wall niche, finished with the same Azure accent tiles, provided useful storage and a unified look.
Replacing the old built-in tub, a freestanding tub in slate blue with brass feet became a bold and sophisticated centerpiece. Paired with a champagne bronze floor-mounted tub filler, this area radiates spa-like tranquility.
Sage-painted Waypoint cabinets paired with Calacatta Luccia quartz countertops added charm and elegance. Vessel sinks champagne bronze faucets, framed mirrors, and updated lighting completed the transformation.
Shyla’s master bathroom has been transformed into a serene and luxurious retreat tailored to her needs. The renovated space not only enhances her daily routine but also adds timeless beauty to her home.

Gerald wanted to update his master bathroom with a contemporary design that combined natural elements and improved functionality. His goal was to create a space that felt open, inviting, and thoughtfully designed.
A dividing wall between the tub and shower was removed, opening up the space for a custom walk-in shower. The new shower includes a ceiling-mounted rain head and a handheld shower, both featuring Brizo Kintsu Brilliance Black Onyx finish.
Kenridge Ribbon Maple Brown 24x48 tiles from TileBar were selected for the shower walls, stacked vertically to enhance the sense of height. The shower floor features Anthea Earth 2x2 Mosaic tiles, providing texture and durability.
A recessed niche was installed for convenient storage, keeping essentials within reach. Frameless glass panels with matte black clips keep the shower feeling open and refined.
The vanity features a Signature Hardware Aliso Natural Teak 48” cabinet with an Arctic White Quartz countertop, paired with a Brizo Allaria wall-mounted faucet in Brilliance Black Onyx.
A Kohler Verdera recessed mirror with a magnifying feature enhances both style and function. Anthea Earth 24x48 matte tiles from Arizona Tile extend from the flooring up the walls, creating a cohesive and inviting look.
The TOTO Aquia IV toilet with a bidet seat and recessed niche shelving enhances comfort and storage. Inax Ombre Border Black tiles near the entrance add a bold accent.
Gerald’s master bathroom combines natural materials with functional upgrades for a refined, inviting space. Thoughtful design and high-end fixtures enhance daily routines with lasting appeal.

The laundry room received a complete makeover with custom storage solutions, upgraded finishes, and a more efficient layout. By combining practicality with beautiful design, the space now supports daily routines while complementing the overall aesthetic of the home.
