Light hardwood floors flow from room to room on the first level. Oil-rubbed bronze light fixtures add a sense of eclectic elegance to the farmhouse setting. Horizontal stair railings give a modern touch to the farmhouse nostalgia. Stained wooden beams contrast beautifully with the crisp white tongue and groove ceiling. A barn door conceals a private, well-lit office or homework nook with bespoke shelving.

This home by the beach has a beautiful entryway with walnut floors and a calm light gray paint on the walls. The organic hall bench is rustic and the carpet runner adds a splash of color.

A stunning mountain retreat, this custom legacy home was designed by MossCreek to feature antique, reclaimed, and historic materials while also providing the family a lodge and gathering place for years to come. Natural stone, antique timbers, bark siding, rusty metal roofing, twig stair rails, antique hardwood floors, and custom metal work are all design elements that work together to create an elegant, yet rustic mountain luxury home.

Located in Menlo Park, California, this 3,000 sf. remodel was carefully crafted to generate excitement and make maximum use of the owner’s strict budget and comply with the city’s stringent planning code. It was understood that not everything was to be redone from a prior owner’s quirky remodel which included odd inward angled walls, circular windows and cedar shingles.
Remedial work to remove and prevent dry rot ate into the budget as well. Studied alterations to the exterior include a new trellis over the garage door, pushing the entry out to create a new soaring stair hall and stripping the exterior down to simplify its appearance. The new steel entry stair leads to a floating bookcase that pivots to the family room. For budget reasons, it was decided to keep the existing cedar shingles.
Upstairs, a large oak multi-level staircase was replaced with the new simple run of stairs. The impact of angled bedroom walls and circular window in the bathroom were calmed with new clean white walls and tile.

To create a more open plan, our solution was to replace the current enclosed stair with an open, glass stair and to create a proper dining space where the third bedroom used to be. This allows the light from the large living room windows to cascade down the length of the apartment brightening the front entry. The Venetian plaster wall anchors the new stair case and LED lights illuminate each glass tread.

An used closet under the stairs is transformed into a beautiful and functional chilled wine cellar with a new wrought iron railing for the stairs to tie it all together. Travertine slabs replace carpet on the stairs.
LED lights are installed in the wine cellar for additional ambient lighting that gives the room a soft glow in the evening.

Cable Railing on Ash Floating Stairs
These Vermont homeowners were looking for a custom stair and railing system that saved space and kept their space open. For the materials, they chose to order two FLIGHT Systems. Their design decisions included a black stringer, colonial gray posts, and Ash treads with a Storm Gray finish. This finished project looks amazing when paired with the white interior and gray stone flooring, and pulls together the open views of the surrounding bay.

Resting upon a 120-acre rural hillside, this 17,500 square-foot residence has unencumbered mountain views to the east, south and west. The exterior design palette for the public side is a more formal Tudor style of architecture, including intricate brick detailing; while the materials for the private side tend toward a more casual mountain-home style of architecture with a natural stone base and hand-cut wood siding.
Primary living spaces and the master bedroom suite, are located on the main level, with guest accommodations on the upper floor of the main house and upper floor of the garage. The interior material palette was carefully chosen to match the stunning collection of antique furniture and artifacts, gathered from around the country. From the elegant kitchen to the cozy screened porch, this residence captures the beauty of the White Mountains and embodies classic New Hampshire living.

a dark metal railing at the new, open staircase adds contrast to the wide-plank oak floors, installed throughout the upstairs and downstairs, excluding the kitchen, which features large-format porcelain tile.

In keeping with the concept of recycling the barn's original materials, Franklin cut and refinished old beams for the new stairs. Coupled with white steel stringers and rails, the stairs, which are made up of oak, hickory and black walnut species, define the old-meets-new aesthetic of the home's design.
