California Spanish Colonial motor court entry and gated driveway with sport court was designed in 2007. We pay meticulous attention to details during construction. The main courtyard entry allows guests to be let off at the front door and the cars valeted for parties. The grass insets soften and warm the homes grand entrance. American Gas lamps adorn the columns and front entry. The paving is natural cobble banding with Santa Barbara stone curbing. The motor court pads and driveway are sand finished colored concrete. The grand staircase to the main front door is cut limestone paving. Mature Olive trees frame the entrance and a two sided weeping wall water feature adds a focal point from inside the courtyard, as well as, from the street view. Two full grown California Live Oaks were craned in to frame each corner of the house. The main driveway to the garages has double Custom Wood gates with a side pedestrian entrance, all connected to the security system and cameras. This cute backyard patio was renovated to provide an outdoor seating area with a firepit by Benintoshape, bar seating for entertaining and a cozy dining area adjacent to the kitchen. Barbara designed perennials and bulbs to be added to the existing shade garden spaces and new plantings were incorporated to provide more seasonal color and interest in the rose garden. New shade tolerant shrubs and groundcovers were added under a large Norway Maple tree that cast considerable shade in the backyard. A new stepping stone path provided access to the nearby sunny lawn and playscape in the side yard. The back and side yards were enclosed with a picket fence to keep the pets and children safe. Comfortable lounge furniture by Janus et Cie and pillows by Elaine Smith were placed in the renovated patio space. The dining area was covered with a Tuuci cantilever umbrella for additional shade in the afternoon.

These Queen Anne homeowners had completely remodeled their home and were looking for a low maintenance, enjoyable yard that would accentuate their views and provide outdoor space for their dogs. Another important goal was to attract birds and pollinators to the garden, in part for photographic opportunities. A series of Corten planters create planting space along the back property line while leaving plenty of room for artificial turf that the family dogs can enjoy. A recirculating urn water feature creates a pleasant sound, a focal point and most importantly, attracts birds to the garden. Privacy screens designed using OutDeco panels create interest on both sides and focus views to the mountains in the background. Front and backyards were completely redesigned for ease of maintenance.

This is a great example of how Cooke accommodates the design needs of our customers. This Santa Barbara fire pit table compliments this compact patio space by blending in, not being too noisy or obtrusive. The grey powdercoat color leaves an opportunity for a bright accent piece, colorful flora, furniture, and lighting to play a larger role in visually defining this space. Our customers love being able to use Cooke colors to bring a theme and a feeling of completeness to their outdoor space. We'd also like to point out that this is a propane model. The refillable tank is neatly stored in the base of the table, accessed via the small door visible in this picture. This is a great option for those who like rearranging their spaces. Natural gas models are also available. The small silver dial underneath the table top offers precise and safe flame control.

St. Enodoc golf club is famous for its panoramic views, perfect lawns and luxury days out. In between the Cornish rain showers this team of Camel Glass installers managed to install the MEGAgrip frameless glass balustrade to the newly refurbished roof terrace at St Enodoc golf club. A strong glass outdoor safety barrier providing shelter from the wind to people outdoors enjoying the view of the sea and watching the golf. The customers wanted a commercial grade frameless glass balustrade with no handrails, instead of the traditional style of galvanized railing. MEGAgrip was used in this situation due to its force loading capability and ability to hold Centryglas ensuring it’s safe to use at this height and location. This MEGAgrip safety screen posed some challenges for Andrew, John and John, the installers, the heavy glass needed to be taken high in the air to reach the scaffolding platform. Using a telehandler they managed, to lift the glass safely into position. However, there was another challenge waiting, the initial installation of steel was slightly misshapen, meaning the original fitters had to return to rectify the problem and therefore delayed the glass balustrade completion. Even so, the MEGAgrip installation was completed successfully and fulfilled the customer brief. Now, the balcony is a very enjoyable spot to sit and watch the golfers on the course.

Summer/Fall 2025: after the first growing season, hot coloured zinnia in the Fiesta Garden - such incredible color saturation! Ornamental flowers (non-poisonous types) mingle with Edible Flowers grown in organic soil, for the best use of space in a tight area. Zinnias are considered by some to be edible (although they may taste a bit bitter); more importantly, they are considered to be non-toxic by the Ontario Poison Control Centre. Please be careful about the plantings in and around your Edible Garden, especially if you have young children. If you're not sure, it's better to be safe than sorry, and ask a professional landscape designer or horticulturalist for advice in advance of purchasing a plant. Even better, check your local Poison Control Centre (PCC) website to be certain about the safety of plants in your growing zone. Keep all your plant tags in an accessible location, as the PCC will want to know the accurate botanical (Latin) names for reference. If you haven't kept your plant tags, and you need to bring your child in to the ER - particularly if they have symptoms, bring in a flower or leaf of the offending plant, it may be possible for them to contact the PCC to identify if it is safe or toxic.
