When we first arrived, the existing staircase was outdated, worn out, and no longer safe. The property sits on two levels, and accessing the upper yard required navigating an unstable structure - far from a space you could comfortably use or enjoy. Our goal was to create a safe, functional, and visually cohesive transition between the two levels, while upgrading the overall look of the backyard. We designed and built a custom outdoor staircase using premium Ipe wood - known for its durability, strength, and natural beauty. The new structure not only provides a solid and secure connection between levels, but also enhances the entire outdoor space with a clean, modern aesthetic. The result is a seamless transition that feels natural within the landscape and significantly improves how the backyard is used. This project is just the first phase of a larger transformation. In the next stage, we will be developing the upper level into a private backyard office - a quiet, functional space designed for focus, relaxation, and connection with nature. A backyard should work for you - not against you.

This involved regrading the area for proper drainage, constructing new retaining walls, and installing integrated steps for safe access throughout the yard. Multiple paver patios were also installed to create defined entertaining areas. The outcome is a safe and highly functional outdoor living space in Dunwoody. A 1950's home gets a big update with new fencing, arbors, rear deck, and front gate. Working with a skilled finish carpenter, we created a beautiful new fence to enclose this family-friendly yard. A small lawn provides space to play and enjoy, while California natives and complimentary shrubs surround the yard. Mature trees are protected with natural wood chip mulch. Rock mulch surrounds the 5-foot perimeter of the house with a few low fuel plants for a fire-safe landscape appropriate to the California foothills.

The two rusted metal safes were found in the apartment before renovation by Liquid Founder, Rowena Gonzales and were kept as decorative side tables. Potted plants add a green element to the rooftop, and copper planters maintain the sleek atmosphere.
