Example of a mid-sized classic master brown tile and porcelain tile porcelain tile walk-in shower design in Portland with an undermount sink, recessed-panel cabinets, dark wood cabinets, granite countertops, a one-piece toilet and beige walls

My client requested a cosy dressing room area with a black and white Chanel inspired theme. The closet compartments and storage are comprised of a linen white with edging details in a high gloss black. I created a center dresser in black lacquer to match, with unique polished nickel pulls. For make up there is a dressing table in white glass with nickel accents, an electrified mirror and custom upholstered vanity chair. Relaxed roman shades in a large floral print coordinate with leopard accents and geometric fabrics.

Block printed cotton throws are scattered on the sofas and an antique triple arch graces the main wall of the living room. This living room feels like the inside of a jewel box, while the open dining room and family room beyond have a refreshing light and airy feel. There are precious heirlooms scattered throughout the house, including a rare “prisoner’s chair” which we placed in the living room window, waiting for its next victim.

The breakfast nook wraps a compact dining area in a continuous blue upholstered banquette, whose curved corner follows the white paneled base below. A round pedestal table leaves the floor beneath visually open, while a light wood chair adds an independent seat without competing with the built-in form. Patterned cushions, a woven tray, and leafy branches bring smaller textures into the composition. Above the table, a spherical pendant echoes the rounded furniture, set against a tall artwork of scattered colored triangles. Soft daylight gives the white surfaces and blue upholstery a clear, gentle contrast. The sculptural table and simple chair suggest a midcentury influence, creating an informal setting for breakfast or a quiet pause beside the kitchen.

This side yard shows the pre-renovation condition with decorative white rock ground cover, scattered planting, and a narrow concrete walkway. The space lacked cohesion, proper layout, and functional use, making it a strong candidate for a full landscape upgrade with artificial turf and structured planter design.

The inspiration for this room’s design was inspired by the beautiful view found outside the windows. Not wanting to compete with Mother Nature I selected neutral color pallet to blend with the idyllic surroundings. The clean sleek lines of the upholstered furnishings sit in juxtaposition to the natural elements—the woven wood blinds, the driftwood coffee table, the slate and copper wall fountain and other accessories— that are scattered throughout the room. Altogether, the room’s design creates a wonderful area to relax, entertain or simply enjoy the scenery.

Rain chains provide interest during the rainy season and help gently scatter the water as it falls. Rain barrels collect rainwater from other downspouts and when full they divert it back out to the landscape through pop-up drains and downspout extenders hidden within the plants.
