A young family moving from NYC to their first home in Westchester County found this pre-war colonial in Larchmont New York in need of a serious overhaul. After a complete gut job and rework of the entire home, they created a compact, vibrantly colorful kitchen open to the family room. o A nautical indigo color was chosen for the island and tall storage cabinets, with a subtle warm gray on the perimeter
o Natural walnut shelving and countertop on the peninsula evoke a mid-century vibe which relates to other vintage furniture pieces in the home
o Colorful cement tiles were carried all the way up the counters to inject pattern and whimsy
o Brass fixtures and hardware strike a handsome contrast with the deep indigo color scheme. Architect: Greg Lewis, Lewis and Lewis, Larchmont NY

A young colonial in the heart of Rye New York had everything going for it, except a dark and poorly laid out kitchen. The clients tapped Sarah Robertson of Studio Dearborn to help them layout a new kitchen in their challenging, dog leg shaped room. A small breakfast peninsula and working island helped pull together the oddly shaped kitchen into a streamlined, light filled space with all the storage amenities typical of a Studio Dearborn kitchen. The bar area, with undercounter refrigeration for wine and beverages, also features a locking cabinet for liquor and open wine storage. Desk area has file drawer and Docking Drawer charging drawer. Countertops: White Macauba, Rye Marble and Stone, Rye NY. Hardware: Studio Pulls from Hickory Hardware. Sinks: Kraus. Lighting: Currey & Co. Faucet: Kohler Artifacts Backsplash tile: Casablanca Tile and Stone, Harrison NY. Photography: Adam Kane Macchia

This remodel was for a family that wanted a contemporary style kitchen with a mix of modern and traditional elements. To bring in the traditional, we installed hardwood flooring in grey and brown tones and Shaker style cabinets but updated them in a grey-brown color for the perimeter and a navy blue for the island. The cabinet hardware is a bronze color with a modern design-bar pulls instead of knobs for all cabinets and drawers. To emulate the color of the cabinet hardware, the island pendants are a bronze wire fixture in addition to the bronze brackets holding up the wine rack display. The countertops are a marble design quartz and the appliances are stainless steel. The backsplash on the stove wall is a contemporary linen-like tile installed in a chevron design and the coffee bar area is also a linen-like tile but in an abstract design. There is a walnut shelf above the quartz countertops to bring in some warmth and rustic elements to the area. For a more contemporary feel, we left the HVAC exposed but painted it white as well as the traditional wooden beams. Overall, the design team and the clients felt the kitchen lived up to their expectations and more of what a Contemporary design could be.

A young family moving from NYC to their first house in Westchester County found this spacious colonial in Mt. Kisco New York. With sweeping lawns and total privacy, the home offered the perfect setting for raising their family. The dated kitchen was gutted but did not require any additional square footage to accommodate a new, classic white kitchen with polished nickel hardware and gold toned pendant lanterns. 2 dishwashers flank the large sink on either side, with custom waste and recycling storage under the sink. The two-toned gray Schrock Pleasant Hill maple cabinetry in this Levit Home Rambler kitchen design in Bowie gives the space a strong, sophisticated vibe. Finished in Maritime and Juniper Berry, the cabinetry is perfectly complemented by Allen + Roth mosaic volcanic glass tile backsplash and a Corian Anthracite countertop. The white Corian sink contrasts nicely with dark gray countertop and includes a Hansgrohe pull out sprayer faucet. COREtec Titanium Jackson Hill plank flooring in Running River adds warmth to the gray kitchen. The kitchen also included a new pantry cabinet, Lutron switch plates, a toe kick heater, and a built-in wine rack. The Solstice team also painted and finished the den along with the kitchen remodel, to create a finished, welcoming kitchen, dining, and living space in this home.

We kept the same square footage and moved things around to be more practical for the customer.
