The great room offers a welcoming scene of relaxation. A stately fireplace rests alongside windows that let in bright, natural light while offering lush views of the professionally landscaped yard just outside.

When the homeowners first purchased the 1925 house, it was compartmentalized, outdated, and completely unfunctional for their growing family. Casework designed the owner's previous kitchen and family room and was brought in to lead up the creative direction for the project. Casework teamed up with architect Paul Crowther and brother sister team Ainslie Davis on the addition and remodel of the Colonial.
The existing kitchen and powder bath were demoed and walls expanded to create a new footprint for the home. This created a much larger, more open kitchen and breakfast nook with mudroom, pantry and more private half bath. In the spacious kitchen, a large walnut island perfectly compliments the homes existing oak floors without feeling too heavy. Paired with brass accents, Calcutta Carrera marble countertops, and clean white cabinets and tile, the kitchen feels bright and open - the perfect spot for a glass of wine with friends or dinner with the whole family.
There was no official master prior to the renovations. The existing four bedrooms and one separate bathroom became two smaller bedrooms perfectly suited for the client’s two daughters, while the third became the true master complete with walk-in closet and master bath. There are future plans for a second story addition that would transform the current master into a guest suite and build out a master bedroom and bath complete with walk in shower and free standing tub.
Overall, a light, neutral palette was incorporated to draw attention to the existing colonial details of the home, like coved ceilings and leaded glass windows, that the homeowners fell in love with. Modern furnishings and art were mixed in to make this space an eclectic haven.

This Bank Executive / Mom works full time from home. Accounting for this way of life, we began the office design by analyzing the space to accommodate for this individual’s workload and lifestyle.
The office nook remains integrated within the rest of the household, with “tweenaged” boys afoot. Still sequestered upstairs, Mom fulfills her role as a professional, while keeping an ear on the household activities.
We designed this space with ample lighting both natural and artificial, sufficient closed and open shelving, and supplies cupboards, with drawers and file cabinets. Craftsman Four Square, Seattle, WA - Master Bedroom & Office - Custom Cabinetry, by Belltown Design LLC, Photography by Julie Mannell

Traditional bathroom in a Capitol Hill Seattle remodel by Hyde Evans Design, featuring a custom tile design. High ceilings and a black-and-white tile palette give this bathroom a presence that belies its size. The tile pattern — designed specifically for this project — demonstrates Hyde Evans Design's approach to material specification: each surface earns its place functionally and aesthetically. Interior Design: Hyde Evans Design, Seattle, WA.

Primary Bedroom in Capitol Hill home addition by Hyde Evans Design, Seattle. This project is one of several Hyde Evans Design residential remodels in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, demonstrating the firm's range from full new construction (Capitol Hill Legacy Home, 2023) to targeted room-level remodels. We updated this light, airy home to better reflect the serene outdoor beauty without. All new layout, windows, deck, new surfaces. Remodeled by Blue Sound Construction, Interior Design by KP Spaces, Design by Brian David Roberts, Photography by Miranda Estes.

Southwest meets the Northwest. This client wanted a real rustic southwest style. The perimeter is rustic rough sawn knotty alder and the Island is hand painted rustic pine. The wide plank wood top is the center piece to this kitchen. Lots of colorful Mexican tile give depth to the earth tones. All the cabinets are custom made by KC Fine Cabinetry.

This bright and airy kitchen makes the perfect family gathering spot. The minimalist hood that also functions as a shelf is a favorite and integrates seamlessly with the wood wall cladding. From a whole house custom build from an existing foundation in West Seattle.

Usage of low maintenance materials, refinishing and reusing cabinets, and reallocating space instead of changing the home’s footprint kept this project green.
Clients were also able to live on site during the renovation due to the low-VOC and water-based finishes, and our constant indoor air-quality monitoring.
The entry and main floor, kitchen, and both baths now feel fresh, airy, and spacious, allowing for immediate relaxation in taking in natural light, water views and sunsets from this West Seattle split-level home.
