At the other end of the home is this media room featuring a Velvet Aqua sectional and area rug that defines the TV screening area. An accent chair in the very bold pillow fabric is added to balance the seating area and a large Zebra cocktail ottoman for casual feet-up comfort in front of the sectional. An exterior entrance leads into an entry with a console on the left and a round table right front. The round entry table has Crocodile embossed leather stools that can be used as seating around the table or pulled into the screening area. Assorted trees and accessories ad to the coastal vibe while the selected furniture is more eclectic than overtly beachy.

As the couple travels frequently, we added some homey comforts, like a deep shag rug in their bedroom. Individual channel-tufted panels of ivory vegan leather on the master bedroom’s headboard wall, bring a sophisticated feature to this room’s design. The custom Vanguard bed incorporates upholstered side rails made of the same vegan leather.

These clients spent the majority of their time outside and entertained frequently, but their existing patio space didn't allow for larger gatherings. We added nearly 500 square feet to the already 225 square feet existing to create this expansive outdoor living room. The outdoor fireplace is see-thru and can fully convert to wood burning should the clients desire. Beyond the fireplace is a spa built in on two sides with a composite deck, LED step lighting, and outdoor rated TV, and additional counter space. The outdoor grilling area mimics the interior of the clients home with a kitchen island and space for dining. Heaters were added in ceiling and mounted to walls to create additional heat sources. To capture the best lighting, our clients enhanced their space with lighting in the overhangs, underneath the benches adjacent the fireplace, and recessed cans throughout. Audio/Visual details include an outdoor rated TV by the spa, Sonos surround sound in the main sitting area, the grilling area, and another landscape zone by the spa. The lighting and audio/visual in this project is also fully automated. To bring their existing area and new area together for ultimate entertaining, the clients remodeled their exterior breakfast room wall by removing three windows and adding an accordion door with a custom retractable screen to keep bugs out of the home. For landscape, the existing sod was removed and synthetic turf installed around the entirety of the backyard area along with a small putting green. Middlefork was retained to update and revitalize this North Shore home to a family of six. The primary goal of this project was to update and expand the home's small, eat-in kitchen. The existing space was gutted and a 1,500-square-foot addition was built to house a gourmet kitchen, connected breakfast room, fireside seating, butler's pantry, and a small office. The family desired nice, timeless spaces that were also durable and family-friendly. As such, great consideration was given to the interior finishes. The 10' kitchen island, for instance, is a solid slab of white velvet quartzite, selected for its ability to withstand mustard, ketchup and finger-paint. There are shorter, walnut extensions off either end of the island that support the children's involvement in meal preparation and crafts. Low-maintenance Atlantic Blue Stone was selected for the perimeter counters. The scope of this phase grew to include re-trimming the front façade and entry to emphasize the Georgian detailing of the home. In addition, the balance of the first floor was gutted; existing plumbing and electrical systems were updated; all windows were replaced; two powder rooms were updated; a low-voltage distribution system for HDTV and audio was added; and, the interior of the home was re-trimmed. GOALS After recently completing indoor renovations, the homeowners were now ready to focus on updating and improving their property. The home lacked curb appeal and was void of any landscape. The land sloped down to the right of the house where decaying retaining walls needed to be addressed and the backyard needed a complete overhaul. – Add curb appeal – Create seasonal interest – Replace failing retaining walls – Create a cohesive space in both the front and rear yards APPROACH The timber wall in the rear yard was removed along with the decaying wall in the front yard. The updated design incorporated a new masonry retaining wall to complement the stucco finish on the house. A natural moss rock wall was added to the front right side of the house to help even out the grade along the foundation. A selection of hardy plants were selected to soften the architecture of the home, providing year-round interest and immense curb appeal. PLANTING COMPONENTS • Large specimen trees, such as hinoki cypress and holly were used to add height and to anchor the home within the landscape. • Southern magnolia and birch trees were placed in the lawn to add color and shade. • Flowering hydrangea, carpet roses, azaleas and perennials such as geranium, liriope, astilbe, coreopsis and nepeta were used to create seasonal interest. RESULT The redesigned landscape provided the finishing touch to the home’s renovations, restoring its curb appeal and adding tremendous value to the home overall.

One of our Louisville clients showed her sister what we had done for her Great Room with our Personal Shopper Service, and her sister said, “Do they travel?” The answer is “Absolutely!” When we arrived in the Windy City, we were absolutely blown away by the view and were excited to put the finishing touches on this High Rise condo. We worked with the homeowner’s existing furniture pieces (sofa, club chairs, and media console with towers) and added personality with accent furniture, accessories, lighting, and artwork. We opened up the seating area and made their beautiful rug more visible by selecting a sleek glass-topped coffee table. Accessories in a range of metal tones complement the existing furniture and rug. Oil canisters in pewter tones look fantastic on the coffee table. We added this concrete base lamp with square shade in between the club chairs. The white marble-topped two-tiered side table breaks up the dark leather of the club chairs. The countertops in the small galley kitchen are a grey blue, so we pulled that color into living space by selecting these great nesting tables with a blue soapstone top. We topped it with a metal lamp and organic white vases to soften the edges. The hallway prints and this beautiful blue watercolor pull the colors from the living space into the Entry. The homeowner was not fond of the existing media cabinet, but not anymore! We accessorized with varying metal tones and lots of texture that bring interest to an otherwise generic furniture piece.  With limited space, we made the most of views by placing our favorite marble writing desk in the bay window. We plan to add upholstered arm chairs on either end that can serve as dining chairs or extra seating for the living area. The important thing is to keep that view as open as possible. A big thanks to our Chicago client for having us up there to make her condo more of a home. Maybe we should change our motto to “Have paint deck & measuring tape, Will Travel!” Enjoy!

At our San Bernardo project in Scottsdale, we remodeled the kitchen, laundry room, and main living area. We also replaced the flooring throughout to create a cohesive feel. This kitchen was previously half the size, with the laundry room taking up most of the space. We pushed this area into a different & took advantage of the new larger space with an island that has lots of storage and seating for three. On the back wall, we used a composite farmhouse sink, and incorporated a pull-out trash. We located the refrigerator on the far-right wall & flanked it with two large pantry cabinets. These have rollouts for easy access to everything. Next, we have the bar area. This is a fun space that continues the subway herringbone backsplash we have throughout the rest of the kitchen. Our client requested we include a beverage fridge in this space for easy access when making drinks. We also added glass & lighting to these upper cabinets to showcase decorative glassware and bottles. To connect the kitchen to the living & dining room, we created a cutout in the wall across from the island. This gave us the opportunity to add more storage and additional seating. For contrast throughout the space, we incorporated touches of black. The hardware on the white shaker cabinets are black, as well as the plumbing fixtures and island pendants. Our client was also looking for a pop of color, so we selected an accent island. This blue stain compliments the veining in the quartz countertops which have a slight blue tint. For added interest, we used gold hardware on the island. To tie it all together, our client selected a large format stone look tile that goes throughout the entire home.

Being part of a team of that transformed a newly built DC rooftop deck into a year-round outdoor retreat required a seamless collaboration of talents. Together with the acclaimed Tomi Landis and Landis Architects-Builders, we added layered beauty to planters surrounding this gorgeous rooftop space, blending lush greenery, modern design, and thoughtful details. To achieve this, we introduced a mix of perennial shrubs, trees, and vibrant seasonal annuals, creating layers of texture and color that change with the seasons. A custom water feature and expertly placed lighting added both tranquility and ambiance, elevating the overall experience of the space. Executing this project involved meticulous planning and precision logistics. All materials—including large containers, trees, shrubs, soil, and structural elements—were craned to the rooftop, ensuring no detail was overlooked. Dark, contemporary planters were selected to create a cohesive perimeter around the expansive deck, offering a polished and unified look while framing the breathtaking city views. With the rooftop fully exposed to the sun, plant selection focused on hardy, sun-loving species to ensure long-term vitality. Multiple crews worked in tandem to deliver a seamless installation, balancing efficiency with craftsmanship. Beyond installation, our commitment to the space continues through tailored maintenance, ensuring the plantings thrive and evolve beautifully over time. This rooftop deck now serves as a vibrant oasis, offering its owners a perfect balance of urban sophistication and natural serenity.

Situated in Miami Beach, Florida, the owner of this 4,000-square-foot luxury condo turned to Sire Design to make better use of the layout of her home as well as elevate her space into one fit for her entire family. While turning this three-bedroom unit into a four-bedroom home with a larger den was no easy feat, the resulting design is simple and elegant with elements that catch your eye throughout. Taking an elegant approach to minimalism, light neutrals including bone and beige are juxtaposed against black and deep blue. The mix of materials incorporated including soft linens, bright wood tones, and hard marble, and pieces from Roche Bobois, Haute Living, and Kreon further accentuate the play on contrasting colors. To complement Florida’s beautiful weather, the design team also selected soft and warm neutrals for the condo’s walls and floors. Large furniture pieces and geometric art in deeper colors ground the space while custom millwork and flooring found throughout create cohesive and welcoming interiors. Through thoughtful space planning, Sire Design transformed the condo to now include an additional bedroom and large den. The team also re-situated the open kitchen to look out upon the breathtaking bayside views. What once was the home’s small kitchen is now an expanded space that includes an area for dining to host family and guests. Sire Design also added a custom marble bar to the living room for added entertainment space. With the client’s five children coming to stay at the home on a rotating basis, it was important to make the three secondary bedrooms and den adaptable for all of the family’s changing needs. Furniture selected for the den helps it convert from a place to entertain to a fifth bedroom when needed. To keep the condo from feeling closed in and satisfy its low ceiling height, the design team used low profile lighting from Apure. This 1940’s Colonial style home in Boston’s Jamaica Plain had strong bones and rich character but lacked the space, modern conveniences, and storage that our clients desired. While they wished to retain the look of the exterior, as well as some of the home’s unique original features,, the kitchen and dining room needed to be reimagined in design, layout, and functionality. Key considerations were the compact size of the home and a smaller lot that didn’t give our client the flexibility of an addition. Without adding on to the existing floor plan, we needed to find a way to gain vital extra space in the kitchen, which, with walls enclosing it on all sides, was dark and disconnected from the rest of the house. Our design team coordinated with our client to reconfigure the space by opening up the wall between the dining room and the kitchen to add a few extra inches – just enough to create an open flow between the two rooms. With the removal of that wall, the formerly dark kitchen was flooded with the natural light coming from the existing dining room windows, making the entire space feel brighter and more cohesive. The original kitchen dated back to the mid-20th century and lacked, among other conveniences, a dishwasher, enough storage, or even countertop space for food prep. In redesigning the kitchen, we visually expanded the space by incorporating white upper cabinetry, open shelving, and white subway tiles extending from the backsplash to the ceiling. A new, larger window featuring a deep stone sill brought in even more light, and the appliances and apron sink were selected to retain the traditional look of the home while delivering modern functionality. Considering how our client would use this space, we focused on creating a purposeful workspace and storage, ensuring that there was ample countertop space and cabinetry between the sink and range. A multi-purpose cabinet and countertop which serves as a microwave station and food service area were added to the backside of the dining room wall, packing a lot of utility into a small space. Prior to this renovation, our client had painted the dining room in Mount Saint Anne by Benjamin Moore, a tranquil blue-gray that suited the room well and allowed the original built-in corner cabinetry to stand out, highlighting the home’s charm. With the newly opened floor plan extending into the kitchen, we selected a deep custom color for the base cabinets, Yorktowne Green by Benjamin Moore, to complement the dining room and pull all of the elements together in a cohesive space. This transformation was remarkable, both functionally and visually. The kitchen is now a bright and inviting space that flows seamlessly into the rest of the house. The homeowners are thrilled with the results, and the small changes we incorporated that made a big difference in the overall feel and functionality of the space.

This Bocce Court & Horseshoe Pit installation is our featured project of the month, and this family operated winery at Dancing Apache Ranch wanted activity / game play features for a special events wine tasting room, as well as one for a more private “family” gathering space. Their choices were bocce & horseshoes, and we couldn’t have been happier to create this for them! We first had to meet with the client to select the location for each amenity, and after a little brainstorming and checking out our other bocce & horseshoe courts online, we think we nailed it…the bocce court selection was directly adjacent to this cool outdoor tasting room. The view from the bocce court is the barn-converted tasting room on one side, and the vineyards on the other….PERFECT! If that wasn’t enough, we also installed new matching-themed landscape lighting with bronze fixtures and a programmable timer. Now the competition starts with wine and goes on into the dark… Next came the locale for the family horseshoe pits, and the natural spot was right next to the most popular family gathering area. Where you ask?...why, the kitchen / outdoor dining ramada of course! This added sport amenity really brings the family together, both young and old, and the simple style ties that ranch theme destination together full circle. With a little sod removal and some grading, this completed install was a total ringer, with everybody a winner. Adding sport amenities to gathering spaces is a great way to bring family and friends together. From the bocce court at the tasting room to the horseshoe pits at the ramada, the installation of these two activities included all the finishing touches. One look at the bocce court proves why we are the top bocce court builder in Arizona! As with every project, we provided our “like it was my house” service. Call us for your very own creation!

The dark blue cabinetry and the hexagon backsplash are fun! The space is not large so removing a traditional table and adding an island opened the space, provided additional prep area and still allows for some seating. Storage improved by adding a small pantry with roll out shelves and incorporating a lazy susan. We met a couple of times in our showroom to select door style and finishes, but finalized the project through e-mail and phone calls.” “Very nice job and met our expectations.
