Decidedly Scandinavian influence, and minimalist details make this sleek kitchen shine.
When the owners purchased this property, it was dramatically different from the new layout.
All very closed off – with only small openings between each room, making the space feel dark and small. Walls were removed, and the kitchen was moved from the original dining location to create a better a relationship from room to room. This enabled a large wrap around peninsula that transitions into a bar with wine cooler and use as a dining server. Ample seating for casual eating flanks the living room side of the peninsula, with simple post details. The overall result has dramatically improved the look and function of the space which can accommodate several helpers at one time.
The Warm grey cabinetry and walnut accented hood and floating shelves a moody, masculine palate and adds feeling of warmth to the space, while the white upper cabinets provide the needed lightness to balance it all off. Blending the combination of shaker styled upper cabinetry provides just enough detail to the design. The thermofoil dark grey slab door base cabinetry adds the right touch of modern, and ensures ease of clean up of base cabinetry for a busy household. The hexagonal tile backsplash carried up to the ceiling draws the eye upward giving the illusion of more height in the space, and adds texture and added warmth. Accessories such as the spice pull out cabinetry which flank each side of the range providing easy access storage for need at hand items.

Now available in four new low-sheen finishes, Barbara Barry's iconic collection offers more options than ever before. From the grey tones of Dune and the light honey-hued Sienna to the darker Havana and Maduro, Barry's distinguished look of quiet luxury is elevated from someday to everyday.

This view toward the stainless hood and Wolf range top showcase the contrasting colors and finishes. The lighter distressed and painted island is reminiscent of an antique server. A warming drawer is cleverly concealed behind a matching drawer front. There is seating for 4 around the island with book shelves contained behind closed doors. A custom copper farm sink near the range top allows a view to the mud the front of the house. Since the main sink had to be located on an inside wall, open shelves with vintage french enamelware create an open feeling in lieu of a window. The island is lighted by french inspired black metal pendant lights. The random pattern travertine stone floor hides everything while providing a soft coloring to the room. Peter Rymwid

Lynne and Laura decided to paint the walls deep gray, with a lighter gray ceiling to accentuate the wood molding. Upholstered gray chairs are placed to follow the oval curves of the table. Accents include a large black fretwork front cabinet with soaring lamps, feather artwork, fork motif artwork and accent mirrors. Silver faux silk drapery panels and a Moroccan motif rug complete the room.

Whether you’re hosting a special celebration or everyday occasion, the beautifully crafted Arlo Dining Collection beckons you to share meals and memories in a comfortable setting.

We were privileged to start with a fabulous octagon shaped area surrounded by windows with spectacular views of the lake. Our intention was to bring the outdoors in while providing function and good use of space. We were able to accomplish this by selecting natural products and coordinating comfort and style. The Lorts antique distressed round dining table and base is finished with a high gloss wax for durability and is surrounded by Lee Natchez Granite fabric placed on Lorts armless side chairs. Six fit comfortably around the 72” solid round table with two positioned in the room for pull up with additional guests. As chairs have become larger to accommodate the increase in the size of Americans, it is important to note that the width of seats creates a tighter fit than in the past. Keep this in mind when selecting for your space. The Fireworks jewel graphite pearl sisal round rug perfectly enhances the space and its pattern coordinates with the upholstered chairs. The Jonathan Charles limed wood and walnut lined drinks cabinet with hammered bronzed openwork base and abstract leaf details to the doors is inspired by European luxury furniture of the 1940’s. The interior has a mirrored inset and is back lit providing ambient lighting to bounce off crystal wine glasses hanging from above. The interior glistens. This piece completes the look of this fabulous room and takes top position as its focal point. The antler chandelier was the client’s favorite and crowns the room perfectly. Since there is adequate wall space for a buffet server, I commissioned a custom island for the kitchen with a walnut finish countertop on wheels that can be rolled in for dinner parties. This piece maximizes limited space in both areas while providing function and style.
