Published in the NORTHSHORE HOME MAGAZINE Fall 2015 issue, this home was dubbed 'Manchester Marvel'. Before its renovation, the home consisted of a street front cottage built in the 1820’s, with a wing added onto the back at a later point. The home owners required a family friendly space to accommodate a large extended family, but they also wished to retain the original character of the home. The design solution was to turn the rectangular footprint into an L shape. The kitchen and the formal entertaining rooms run along the vertical wing of the home. Within the central hub of the home is a large family room that opens to the kitchen and the back of the patio. Located in the horizontal plane are the solarium, mudroom and garage. Some design projects are a true collaboration between the homeowner and the design team. Such was the case in this Wynnewood renovation, where the homeowner had a strong vision for the space plan and the desired look and feel for her dining room. Our job was to make sure that the furniture, lighting and rug she selected adhered to her original vision of a family-friendly space that was open, bright, modern, and inspired by nature. The green color of the wishbone dining chairs is the pop of color that appears in various ways throughout the first floor, including in the powder room tile and the mudroom cabinets.

Our homeowner approached us first in order to remodel her master suite. Her shower was leaking and she wanted to turn 2 separate closets into one enviable walk in closet. This homeowners projects have been completed in multiple phases. The second phase was focused on the kitchen, laundry room and converting the dining room to an office. Dining Room turned Office: There is a white washed oak barn door separating the new office from the living room. The blue accent wall is the perfect backdrop for the mirror. This room features both recessed lighting and a stunning pendant chandelier. It also has both a pocket door and barn door. The view to the backyard was a part of this remodel and makes it a lovely office for the homeowner.

Kitchen - coastal kitchen idea

Sweet teen bedroom with a soft color palette of neutrals and pink. Although I know a lot of adults that would love to have this room too. The overall vibe is boho chic, but we did manage to put in a few bold details such as the strip walls and the neon sign. The bold striped walls accent the delicate wood work and soft colors beautifully. It's a wonderful balance of soft and strong.

Stepping stones in a minimal gravel paved area lead past two lounge chairs to the intimate dining area. The herringbone-patterned limestone patio dissipates into a lush planting bed filled with loose swaths of shade-loving perennials and seasonal bulbs. Beech hedging, and formal clipped evergreens, surround the space and provide privacy, structure and winter interest to the garden. On axis to the main interior living space of the home, the fountain, is the focal point of the garden. A limestone water wall featuring an engraved pattern of fallen Honey Locust leaves nods to the centrally located mature Honey Locust tree that anchors the garden. Water, flowing down the wall, falls a short distance into a pool with a submerged limestone panel. The light noise of the falling water helps soften the sounds of the bustling downtown neighbourhood, creating a tranquil back drop for living and entertaining.

ATIID collaborated with these homeowners to curate new furnishings throughout the home while their down-to-the studs, raise-the-roof renovation, designed by Chambers Design, was underway. Pattern and color were everything to the owners, and classic “Americana” colors with a modern twist appear in the formal dining room, great room with gorgeous new screen porch, and the primary bedroom. Custom bedding that marries not-so-traditional checks and florals invites guests into each sumptuously layered bed. Vintage and contemporary area rugs in wool and jute provide color and warmth, grounding each space. Bold wallpapers were introduced in the powder and guest bathrooms, and custom draperies layered with natural fiber roman shades ala Cindy’s Window Fashions inspire the palettes and draw the eye out to the natural beauty beyond. Luxury abounds in each bathroom with gleaming chrome fixtures and classic finishes. A magnetic shade of blue paint envelops the gourmet kitchen and a buttery yellow creates a happy basement laundry room.
