The "blue hour" is that magical time of day when sunlight scatters and the sky becomes a deep shade of blue. For this Mediterranean-style Sea Cliff home from the 1920s, we took our design inspiration from the twilight period that inspired artists and photographers. The living room features moody blues and neutral shades on the main floor. We selected contemporary furnishings and modern art for this active family of five. Upstairs are the bedrooms and a home office, while downstairs, a media room, and wine cellar provide a place for adults and young children to relax and play.

A high-rise living room with a view of Lake Michigan! The blues of the view outside inspired the palette for inside. The amalfi colored grasscloth wallpaper sets the stage for the contrasting king upholstered bed. Crystal lamps set upon MadeGood faux shagreen nightstands completes the scene.

Objective: The clients childhood memories of a home previously stayed in as a young girl played a vital role in the decision to totally transform a part of history into a modern retreat for this couple. Solution: Demo of every room began. One brick wall and center support wall stayed while everything else was demolished. We rearranged each room to create the perfect home for the soon to be retired couple. The clients love being outside which is the reasoning for all of large window and sliding doors which lead to the pool and manicured grounds. A new master suite was created, new guest room with ensuite bath, laundry room, small family room, oversized living room, dining room, kitchen, dish pantry, and powder bath were all totally reimagined to give this family everything they wanted. Furnishings brought from the previous home, revived heirlooms, and new pieces all combined to create this modern, yet warm inviting home. In the powder bath a classic pedestal sink, marble mosaic floors, and simple baseboards were the perfect pairing for this dramatic wallpaper. After construction, a vintage art piece was revived from storage to become the perfect juxtaposed piece to complete the powder bath. The kitchen is a chef’s dream with clean lined cabinets, white quartz countertops and plenty of seating for casual eating.

"Sun-Kissed Sanctuary" reimagines the traditional dining room as a versatile haven, perfect for year-round conversation and creating a lasting first impression. This project catered to the client's desire for a space that seamlessly blends casual elegance with organic elements. The design team employed a calming palette of soft whites and airy blues, setting the stage for a serene escape. Textural harmony was achieved through a layered approach: radial plush linen chairs provided sumptuous comfort, while woven pillows and a shagreen-wrapped coffee table added a touch of rustic charm. A lush fiddle fig leaf plant, strategically placed in the space, injected a dose of life and echoed the organic design theme. Respectful of the existing foundation, we integrated the client's existing rug, a statement chandelier, and a captivating wall thread hanging into the new design. To elevate the space further, we introduced custom elements that instilled a sense of unique character. Hand-crafted wood beams and wall trim, reminiscent of a sun-drenched porch, added warmth and architectural interest. Oyster-hued wallpaper on the foyer ceiling provided a bold textural contrast and a touch of coastal sophistication. The added white trim was accentuated, drawing the eye upwards and creating a sense of verticality. The "Sun-Kissed Sanctuary" transcends the limitations of a traditional front room, offering a versatile space that invites relaxation and connection. This project exemplifies our ability to curate a space that is both elegant and inviting, perfectly reflecting the client's personality and lifestyle.

For this whole-home interior design project in Raleigh, NC, our team at Lavish refreshed the main living spaces with a collected, layered look that feels timeless rather than trendy. The living room design centers on a gallery wall of the clients' own art and travel finds, thoughtfully arranged above a supple camel leather sectional and grounded by vintage-inspired lumbar pillows and a concrete-look side table. In the formal dining room, textural botanical wallpaper wraps the vaulted ceiling, while a sculptural cascading chandelier, nailhead-trimmed host chairs, and layered drapery create an elegant setting for entertaining. A guest bedroom design pairs a brass scalloped fan-light fixture with soft blue florals and fluted casegoods for a serene, tailored retreat, and a shagreen console with brass legs and patterned poufs turns a simple hallway into a styled moment. The inspiration came from a luxurious hotel room with a fresh palette. Here we paired our favorite tufted velvet bedframe and Shagreen nightstand with a Shibori wallpaper and our custom brass framed mirror to align perfectly with the central window.
