SENCE ARCHITECTSThe Bunker House is a two-story house with a bomb shelter in the basement.
A bunker house is a two-story residential building with a basement bomb shelter. In a short time, we had to equip the basement, master the "two walls" principle and properly seal the windows to protect ourselves and our family from the impact of the shock wave. Our priorities have changed when choosing a home - proximity to the city center or transportation hubs no longer matters.
Moreover, SENCE ARCHITECTS also took care of other safety aspects. According to the rules, the storage has two distributed exits outside, each with light "hints" of the direction of evacuation. The basement area is sealed and equipped with a double ventilation system. This is a zone of guaranteed protection against missile attacks, poisonous or radioactive substances, combustion products, and bacteriological weapons. The first mode works on air recovery, providing a fresh flow of it in the absence of heat loss. The second is carried out by a filter ventilation unit — it cleans the outside air, and then distributes it to the compartments and creates excess pressure.
Thus, contaminated air will not penetrate inside even through small cracks in protective structures.
CONCEPTUAL SOLUTION
The structures of the building itself are made of strong reinforced concrete — this way SENCE ARCHITECTS suggests abandoning "glass" facades. The number of windows has also been reduced: they will have a protective anti-shock film, and in case of an explosive wave, they will be closed with reinforced shutters made of fire-resistant plywood. At the entrance to the house and bomb shelter, armored doors are installed.
Water is supplied from its own artesian well, electricity — from its own diesel power plant. This means that possible damage to infrastructure facilities will not affect the lives of residents in any way. The house is equipped with modern types of radio- and telephone communication, and satellite Internet, which will work even in the bomb shelter. The signaling and air-raid alert systems are to be installed too. The systems are powered autonomously and have backup channels. Overall, given its specificity, the house is designed for a family of 4-5 people.

Their furniture and accessories were well past their prime. The brick fireplace, the focal point of the room, looked dark and dingy. Upon completion of our first interview with the client I realized her style was transitional and the facade of the fireplace would not work with her new furnishings as well as the golden oak paneling.
We brought in our very talented faux painter to access the paneling about changing the color to a soft neutral glow and we completed the transformation in one a very short time.

The Quince tree bloomed annually for just a short time and was originally planted by the prior home owners decades ago. Keeping it maintained to a height of 4’ maximum, dictated for safety reasons, was still obstructing and limiting the visibility of oncoming traffic at this busy intersection.
The existing roses planted in the same space as the Quince were a perfect backdrop to the new perennials and annuals planted to paint this corner with flowers. The project also included expanding the beautification to both corner areas in coordination with several other planting areas already seasonally updated on the property. With the Redwood Tree as a focal point and Roses, Daphnes, Iris, Azaleas, Fuchsias, Hydrangeas and Camilias highlighting the planting beds the addition of color, including around the driveway and side entrance, transformed the entire space.

Simply Stunning SpacesThis La Jolla condo, located steps away from Wind n Sea beach was our client's third home we completed for them in San Diego. As vacation rental property owners, this Texas couple plans on making this their retirement escape in the years to come. In the meantime, the design had to be suitable for short time renters.
Keeping our clients' needs in mind, the interior design was geared to appeal to the out of towners. With a focus on durability, clean, simple and modern coastal design, we're all pretty certain this little gem is going to stand out amongst its competition. The formula is pretty simple, but our job is to make it happen! :)
Most of the furnishings were custom-made to fit the space perfectly, taking advantage of every inch and maximizing the space. Doubling up 2 full size beds in each of the guest rooms made this vacation rental property perfect for families and large groups.
One of our biggest challenges? Finding pieces we loved that had no metal accents! ((The salt air takes its toll on those pieces faster than you'd ever guess when you're this close to the ocean!)
We take no credit for the incredible sunsets you're guaranteed to get almost every night of your stay here, just one of the many perks of vacationing at Neptune Place. :)

Kitchen Solvers of Fort LauderdaleOur client contacted us about refacing the cabinets in her son’s new home. The house had been remodeled a short time ago, but the kitchen cabinets had not been changed and did not have a good finish. We also had to adapt the island since the microwave would be replaced by a microwave with a special horizontal opening for lower cabinets. For this we had to disassemble the upper quartz, adjust and modify the cabinet and reinstall the quartz. All the cabinets were refaced using the Tribute door style in maple and done in a classic white color. To finish the new look, LED lights were placed under the cabinets.

TELFORD+BROWN STUDIO ARCHITECTUREThe conversation with our clients began with their request to replace an office and storage shed at their urban nursery. In short time the project grew to include an equipment storage area, ground floor office and a retreat on the second floor. This elevated sitting area captures breezes and provides views to adjacent greenhouses and nursery yards. The wood stove from the original shed heats the ground floor office. An open Rumford fireplace warms the upper sitting area. The exterior materials are cedar and galvanized roofing. Interior materials include douglas fir, stone, raw steel and concrete.
