Our client wanted to keep the original oak floors in the "Her" closet space. We were able to simply clean them up since the space wasn't a high traffic area and they were in good shape.

For this kitchen remodeling project, our homeowners were looking to change their space to make the kitchen more open. We removed the existing peninsula, which allowed us to install a new kitchen island for them. Some of their cabinets were still in good condition, so we were able to keep them and simply reface them. The rest of the kitchen saw us installing all new cabinets. Our clients went with the Refuge door style in the Agave color from our Kitchen Solvers Showcase Collection. For the island they changed it up and did the cabinets in a pearl color. To finish this beautiful transformation, we installed a new Calcutta Laza quartz countertop along with a Zellenger Pearl backsplash. Just look at this stunning transformation!

There were a few difficulties in making this kitchen any better than how it was. There was a separate staircase that had access to the second floor which was located in the kitchen. This left just enough room to push the dining room to one side. Then, there was the porch. A really nice panoramic view of the back, but was somehow under-used by the family during the summer months. Then, it was the size of the kitchen. It simply was way too small for a growing family, and while it had a peninsular in place, the flow just didn’t work. I remember watching them one day demonstrating how awkward it was using the kitchen. We got it! We had our marching orders to go and figure out how to make this kitchen work for this family. Everything in the room was fair play. The design was done to make the kitchen very open. For a few ideas, we incorporated the porch in the kitchen by using the nana wall idea but it ended up being too cost prohibitive to do so. We then decided to do a permanent fix by using a commercial glass wall application. Once we figured that out, we moved back inside and removed the staircase. This gave us two added benefits. One allowed us to really reconfigure the kitchen and the other opened up the second floor for a huge built in closet system. We relocated the windows, added a fire place with a built In TV above. From there, it was onto the kitchen itself which contained a huge Island with seating, large kitchen sink and built in appliances which was set up in a way to take advantage of the new layout. We re-positioned the kitchen facing the beautiful views outside rather than looking towards a wall. Now, when you enter the house up the entry stairs, the kitchen now draws you into the magnificent new open space. This is now setup for entertaining, relaxation, hanging out and most of all, preparing meals in a room where you only have to leave if you want to. This one was all about the design. Design was what made this space. Setting this space up for success was crucial, and this kitchen is a great example of how design can cover a multitude of sins in Kitchen designs. … Just close your eyes for a second and imagine waking up one winter morning and having a cup of coffee and watching the snow fall through those huge windows, leaning up against those 3D feature walls while watching the kids sitting around the table enjoying those warm radiant heated floors in this spacious kitchen…..

When we arrived at this kitchen in Solebury it was dated and closed in. A center peninsula divided the space and a wall at the end separated a tiny dining room. We completely redesigned the layout by removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room and adding a window to gain some natural light. The homeowners loved the rich cranberry color but struggled to integrate it without overwhelming the space with red. The window treatments and floor to ceiling pantry gave us the perfect opportunity to accent the color palette throughout the room. Some open shelving and a chair rail along the top of the backsplash allow for decoration and keep the counters clutter free. This quickly became one of our favorite kitchen renovations simply because of the dramatic changes we were able to make.

Goals Our clients loved the functionality of their kitchen, however, not the outdated look. They desired to keep the kitchen’s original layout while simply bringing in a modern aesthetic. Our Design Solution We began by removing the rounded cabinets and countertops and replacing them with a modern flat paneled cabinet and a large white counter. We brought the counter down the side of the cabinet for a unique modern element. Enlarging the window behind the sink allowed for more natural light to flood the space and warm up the new light gray walls. Making the counters one level instead of two opened up the space as well. All the appliances were updated and the fridge was hidden behind cabinet doors for a modern finish.

This Pond project consisted of removal and rebuilding of existing stream and pond. All new pond components were installed. The installation included pond liner, pump, rock, skimmer and filtration. This is a complete Aquascape ecosystem pond. The pond is roughly 15’x 20′ at its largest and has a 20′ meandering stream. We also installed a custom fire bowl spillway fountain. The self-contained fire fountain is a water feature with a fire feature in the center making it an ideal focal point or centerpiece to any outdoor setting. We customized this fountain to include a spillway as well. it is no longer self-contained. We incorporated it to work with the pond system. Simply add paraffin or “tiki torch fuel” and you’re ready to go. We also installed an automatic dosing system for ease of maintenance. This Pond was installed in Lancaster, PA. We also did some renovation work on the flagstone walkway along the pond.

Reconstruction of raised terraces. Removed existing failed construction, provided additional structural support. EPDM and raised pavers were installed, with integral drainage providing controlled run off. New precast railing and repairs to EIFS finish off the project and provides a relaxing space for entertaining or simply lounging by the pool.

Children’s waiting room interior design project at Princeton University. I was beyond thrilled when contacted by a team of scientists ( psychologists and neurologists ) at Princeton University. This group of professors and graduate students from the Turk-Brown Laboratory are conducting research on the infant’s brain by using functional magnetic resonance imaging (or fMRI), to see how they learn, remember and think. My job was to turn a tiny 7’x10′ windowless study room into an inviting but not too “clinical” waiting room for the mothers or fathers and siblings of the babies being studied. We needed to ensure a comfortable place for parents to rock and feed their babies while waiting their turn to go back to the laboratory, as well as a place to change the babies if needed. We wanted to stock some shelves with good books and while the room looks complete, we’re still sourcing something interactive to mount to the wall to help entertain toddlers who want something more active than reading or building blocks. Since there are no windows, I wanted to bring the outdoors inside. Princeton University‘s colors are orange, gray and black and the history behind those colors is very interesting. It seems there are a lot of squirrels on campus and these colors were selected for the three colors of squirrels often seem scampering around the university grounds. The orange squirrels are now extinct, but the gray and black squirrels are abundant, as I found when touring the campus with my son on installation day. Therefore we wanted to reflect this history in the room and decided to paint silhouettes of squirrels in these three colors throughout the room. While the ceilings are 10′ high in this tiny room, they’re very drab and boring. Given that it’s a drop ceiling, we can’t paint it a fun color as I typically do in my nurseries and kids’ rooms. To distract from the ugly ceiling, I contacted My Custom Creation through their Etsy shop and commissioned them to create a custom butterfly mobile to suspend from the ceiling to create a swath of butterflies moving across the room. Their customer service was impeccable and the end product was exactly what we wanted! The flooring in the space was simply coated concrete so I decided to use Flor carpet tiles to give it warmth and a grass-like appeal. These tiles are super easy to install and can easily be removed without any residual on the floor. I’ll be using them more often for sure! Sampson, our client's adorable pug, would agree that this stylish rooftop garden is the place to be after Rooftopia had the opportunity to give the deck a much needed makeover! Our teams removed an old worn out wooden deck and replaced the flooring with new porcelain tiles on a floating pedestal system for a durable and gorgeous deck surface that not only looks fabulous, it improves drainage, protects the roof membrane from UV exposure, evenly disperses the weight of the garden elements and is modular and very low maintenance. This private rooftop also features a custom made metal pergola and wooden screen to offer shade and artfully frames the view of the incredible city skyline. The pergola also creates a pleasing surround for the primary rooftop seating and lounge area. The outdoor kitchen is made of durable marine grade aluminum cabinets and a custom concrete countertop with a built in bar ledge. The bar ledge features an original metal screen pattern and seating positioned to highlight the stunning view and keep the conversation flowing. The centrally located dining area makes it easy to entertain a crowd, host out of town guests before a concert or simply prepare a refreshing drink after work. Working with the scale of the rooftop we added large planter boxes & greenery situated to soften the hard lines of the building, add a layer of privacy and frame the views of the skyline. A few containers are placed near the entrance and in the seating area to offer pops of colorful seasonal flowers. An irrigation system is a key part of the garden that operates automatically to water plants on a daily timer so our clients can spend their time relaxing and the plants stay healthy. Rooftopia also integrated LED lighting and patio string lights to accent and illuminate these beautiful garden elements.

Merry In Middletown In this kitchen, we removed a soffit and wall that separated the kitchen from the dinning room. We installed St. Martin Cabinetry in the Newhaven door style. The color is Simply White. We used Cambria Quartz in the color New Castle. The backsplash is Mohawk Porcelain Vintage Cleft color Carlsbad Beige 2x4 Mosaic. Elliot Quintin

Infusing this once, drab 80’s kitchen with light and color was one goal in this extensive remodel. By removing the wall separating the dining room from the kitchen, the space doubled in size and allowed natural light to flood it. Creating a design that filled the space yet remained very functional to the homeowner was extremely important. By implementing the two working triangles, one homeowner can be using the sink, cooktop and refrigerator while the other uses the secondary island for food prep as it has an additional sink. A large soffit housing HVAC runs through the middle of the townhome and seemed intrusive to the space at first. After embracing it in the design, it’s as if it were meant to be. Three aluminum framed cabinets hang below, one directly underneath the soffit to create an asymmetrical design. On a budget but still wanting a beautiful design, Crystal’s semi-custom line of cabinetry came into play. Simply White and Light Grey provide the perfect backdrop for natural maple, brushed gold hardware and accessories that infuse the space with color. Inside the cabinetry, the best storage solutions make for an extremely functional kitchen! Opening up the 1st floor from front to back allowed the eye to carry along from the entry to the patio. While maintaining a neutral background, we played around with pops of jewel-tones in the accent furniture and art. The stunning Thomas Newman Pearl Chandelier centered the sitting area around the original fireplace. The original vestibule was removed creating an open welcoming foyer, fitted with checkerboard marble floor. While the stairs for all 3 floors of the home were completely reconstructed, we were able to keep the original spindles and handrail, simply updating it with a dramatic black stain.
