We're calling this project our "Love It Or List It" project because our clients were debating whether or not they wanted to renovate or put their home on the market while the market was hot. They opted for the renovation & with the help of the Simply Stunning Spaces team, it's safe to say, they're loving their new space & aren't planning on leaving anytime soon!

"I cannot say enough good things about the Innovative Construction team and work product. They remodeled our water-damaged, 1930s basement, and exceeded all of our expectations - before and after photos simply cannot do this project justice. The original basement included an awkward staircase in an awkward location, one bedroom, one bathroom, a kitchen and small living space. We had a difficult time imagining that it could be much more than that. Innovative Construction's design team was creative, and thought completely out of the box. They relocated the stairwell in a way we did not think was possible, opening up the basement to reconfigure the bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette, living space, but also adding an office and finished storage room. The end result is as functional as it is beautiful. As with all construction, particularly a renovation of an old house, there will be inconveniences, it will be messy, and plenty of surprises behind the old walls. The Innovative Construction team maintained a clean and safe work site for 100% of the project, with minimal disruption to our daily lives, even when there was a large hole cut into our main living room floor to accommodate new stairs down to the basement. The team showed creativity and an eye for design when working around some of the unexpected "character" revealed when opening the walls. The team effectively uses technology to keep everyone on the same page about changes, requests, schedules, contracts, invoices, etc. Everyone is friendly, competent, helpful, and responsive. This Coronado Condo went from dated to updated by replacing the tile flooring with newly updated ash grey wood floors, glossy white kitchen cabinets, MSI ash gray quartz countertops, coordinating built-ins, 4x12" white glass subway tiles, under cabinet lighting and outlets, automated solar screen roller shades and stylish modern furnishings and light fixtures from Restoration Hardware.

The biggest challenge with this room was making it feel open and bright, given that it is at the garden level of a brownstone. We replaced the exposed brick walls with white subway tile, and the floor tiles also add brightness. Reclaimed wood shelves were outfitted with LEDs. The cabinetry is custom-designed and fabricated. The layout remained roughly the same, as the owners found that the previous configuration met their needs. We simply added more storage and enhanced the cabinets and surfaces.

This kitchen update required improved efficiency, functionality, and ventilation. The perimeter cabinets were simply pained a fresh white, while the island was replaced with blue cabinetry. Counters were upgraded to a patterned quartz. A new undermount stainless steel sink with built in meal prep and easy cleaning features. Moved the microwave from above the range into the island in a drawer. The textured blue glass geometric tile backsplash makes a statement.

The custom inset cabinetry was in excellent condition so it would have been wasteful to tear it all out and replace it simply for being the wrong color. Our designer assisted the homeowner in selecting just the right white - there are dozens! - for the cabinets and moldings to complement the new quartz countertops.
