This young suburban family transformed their sloping yard into an entertainment complex. First step was to create two levels; an upper one with lounge chairs, BBQ and outdoor dining area; and a lower one with chaise lounges and a large covered outdoor living room highlighted by a stone feature wall with fireplace and TV. Complete Master Bath remodel. Closet space and an alcove were taken from the neighboring bedroom to expand the master bathroom space. That allowed us to create a large walk in shower, expand the vanity space and create a large single walk in closet for the homeowners. This made the entrance to the bathroom a single entrance from the master bedroom versus the hallway entrance the bathroom had previously. This allowed us to create a true master bathroom as part of the new master suite. The shower is tiled with rectangular gray tiles installed vertically in a brick pattern. We used a glass tile as an accent and gray hexagon mosaic stone on the floor. The bench is topped with the countertop material.

This shallow plunge pool enjoys a most impressive setting overlooking a prestigious private golf club near Collingwood. The visual focal point is a massive sheer descent waterfall spilling over a slab of solid granite, supported by a full-length tiled feature wall. An automated safety cover neatly retracts into a bunker behind the full-width entry steps. On the far end a full-width swim out bench allows easy access to the adjoining spa. The spacious flagstone deck and steps feature radiant heating, while the perimeter fence in tempered glass provides the final luxurious touch. (9 x 17, rectangular)

In mature neighbourhoods like this, backyard access can often be a challenge. Fortunately, this home’s garage was located along the side of the house and included a second full-size garage door at the back. This made it easy to shuttle the excavation equipment and construction materials back and forth.

Encircling a sleek pool, this garden for a growing family offers comfortable spaces in which to play, relax and dine. New raised planters and containers overflow with citrus, herbs and colorful Mediterranean plantings. Synthetic turf provides a soft, inviting play place in a shady area of the yard. Built to maximize the space available in a small backyard, this custom-designed curvilinear pool provides an appealing contrast to the geometric lines of the house and fencing.
