More storage topped the wish list for this 1950's remodel. Since the homeowners both liked to cook, they need storage for their many small cooking appliances and large collection of spices, coffees and teas. This perfect antique, seaside home badly needed a bathroom update. We have been talking with the clients for years about how to approach the tiny space. The space limitations were solved by using a linear floor drain, glass panel, rear exit toilet, in-wall tank, and Runtel radiator/towel warmer. After dark the entire backyard comes to life bathed in the warm glow of the artfully placed array of LED garden lights. The uplighting across the back of the yard highlights the spreading limbs of the trees as their silhouettes are reflected on the cedar fence behind.

Three steps below the loggia, the first terrace features a sitting area and custom 7’ x 7’ vinyl over steel spa. Being located some distance from the pool, it is self contained with its own pump, heater, controls and pool size cartridge filter. It is fully winterized with thermal cover for year-round use.

The pool design is based on the upright wings of the airplane, as the owner is an avid aviator as well as tri-athlete. Large expanses of glass allow natural light to stream into the year-round training space. Cedar siding and extensive stone work ground the modern form of the building in the natural landscape.
