Our homeowner had dreamt about one day redoing her beyond outdated kitchen since they day her husband carried her over the threshold. Vinyl flooring used for a backsplash, dingy carpeting, laminate with no sheen left to speak of and mismatched cabinetry…. it was time to make it happen. A year’s worth of planning later, her time capsule became one dreamy kitchen.
Functionality reigns supreme in this small, but efficient kitchen where every cabinet has a story to tell and a place to store it. Countertop space to the right of the stove was an added necessity for function and safety. The raised snack bar is perfect for day to day meals and the lowered countertop was a must for this petite baker. A new lighting plan includes recessed lights, under-cabinet and accent lights, while new lighting fixtures reflect the client’s sense of style. Dingy brick patterned carpet was removed making way for new hardwood floors toothed in from the dining room.
An airy palette gained some weight with the use of larger details; the oversized hood, beefy turned posts, prominent apron front sink and a grouping of tall cabinets on the refrigerator wall. Glass cabinet fronts, shiny beveled subway tile, and granite countertops allow light to dance around the space.

The blue is such a joyous pop in this kitchen. These are white painted semi custom cabinets. The door style keeps it simple with the flat panel. The island cabinets are a textured laminate in the same simple door style. The island brings a really depth to the whole project and yet keeps it contemporary. The bright big window is left to grab all the attention, but with that island you won't sacrifice any storage. Here at DDK we are proud of this kitchen and it timeless fashion. The basement of this home has everything - candy bar, open theater room, pool table, air hockey table, 4 way television, and a full kitchen plus dining area. Barn wood on the candy bar is amazing. It also features a beer bottle chandelier! Custom made couches make the theater room cozy, functional and inviting!

Like the musical Rhapsody in Blue, by George Gershwin, this kitchen is a culmination of classical design with some jazzy effects. The shaker styled, recessed panel cabinetry is juxtaposed between traditional white and up tempo blue. 3D Glass tiled backsplash catches the light from every direction. The walnut wood top snack bar section of the island is like a puzzle piece to the booth seating area directly opposite. Custom made metal panels in the island give the whole space an upscale vibe. But there is even more to this kitchen than meets the eye. A hidden walk-in pantry and a coffee bar live harmoniously behind the blue cabinetry.

Had the opportunity to work on the beautiful home of Joey McIntyre.
Project featured in Variety, "Originally designed by celebrated architect Paul Williams and extensively updated and renovated to combine period architectural details with a modern-day lifestyle, the approximately 4,300-square-foot East Coast traditional has four bedrooms and four full and two half bathrooms plus a detached cottage with another bathroom for guests or staff. A slender center hall foyer features polished grey and white checkerboard marble floor tiles and a tightly curved staircase; the formal living room has a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling bay window that looks out to the verdant front yard; a library opens through transom-topped French doors to the backyard; and a chandelier lit formal dining room comfortably seats ten or twelve. An open-plan wing behind the dining room includes a spacious and well-equipped eat-in kitchen with five-stool snack bar integrated into a double wide island and, beyond that, a cozily proportioned TV-room with pilaster-accented fireplace and French door access to the yard. Two guest or family bedrooms share a hall bathroom on the second floor while a third guest/family bedroom has its own bathroom plus French doors to a slim balcony shared with the master bedroom that offers up a fireplace, walk-in closet and a spacious, marble-tiled bathroom with claw-footed soaking tub, steam shower and French doors that open to a Juliet balcony."
