The bespoke, made to measure furniture features an executive desk, carefully configured bookcase cabinets and ingenious solutions for concealed storage. Decorative design features include fluted solid oak pilasters which add a sophisticated, classic look to the cabinetry. Shaped statement desk
This impressive statement desk has been beautifully handcrafted for long-term durability and practical comfort. The angled shape creates a comfortable seating area with ample leg room. Every side of the desk has a high-quality finish to present a professional appearance from every angle in the room. The real oak veneered surface has solid oak edges and features two hand-fitted, sheepskin leather insets in a medium tan colour. Other customised features include eight equal-sized drawers and two pencil storage drawers,
Shaker-style cabinetry
The floor to ceiling and wall-to-wall oak bookcase cabinetry features tailored shelving, lower cupboards and hanging file drawers, and a glass-fronted upper display unit. This central cabinet is beautifully illuminated with concealed, dimmable LED lighting. The cabinet countertop and desktop both feature a matching chamfered edge and plinth detail. A chamfer is a refined yet impactful design choice that achieves a safer, more durable, and visually appealing furniture. All the cabinets are fully lined with real oak veneer. We also hand finished the cabinetry with natural Rubio Monocoat wood oil in Pure, which accentuates the authentic look of the oak.

Decorative wood beams are architectural elements that are designed to add visual interest and character to a space. While they may mimic the appearance of structural wood beams, they are primarily used for decorative purposes rather than providing structural support. Decorative wood beams are often crafted from solid or engineered wood and come in a variety of designs, including hand-hewn, rough-sawn, and distressed finishes, to create the appearance of aged or antique wood. These beams are commonly used to highlight a room's architecture, add warmth and texture to ceilings, or create a rustic ambiance in both residential and commercial settings. Whether they are purely ornamental or used to conceal structural elements, decorative wood beams are a popular choice for interior design and can bring a touch of natural beauty to any space.

Built in 1979, this home in Pittsburgh’s Bradford Woods borough snuck in at the very tail end of Mid-Century Modern architecture. As lovers of that era, you can imagine our excitement when our clients explained their vision to lean in to that style with their planned kitchen renovation. We collaborated to design a beautiful and functional space that not only better suits this young family’s lifestyle, but truly feels like it has always been a part of the home.
Starting with the layout, we opened the kitchen up to neighboring dining room and eat-in spaces, allowing for a more cohesive main level floorplan. Along with some slight reconfiguring of the refrigerator and pantry locations, a new island created an opportunity for the main kitchen workspace to stay connected for both entertaining and day-to-day activities. Custom open shelving anchors the end of the island without blocking sightlines from the front of the home into the kitchen.
New light oak flooring throughout adds a contemporary nod, integrating two adjoining family rooms. It also creates a nice contrast for the kitchen and dining room’s custom cabinetry in a rich walnut finish. Slab style doors with minimal brass hardware help deliver the streamlined Mid-Century aesthetic. Custom radial edges at the island and coffee bar add a whimsical flair, highlighting the matte green solid surface countertops. To coordinate with the original tile found in the entryway, a neutral choice with rustic handmade detail adds warmth and texture to the backsplash and island base.
Rounding out the rest of this sunny space, Mid-Mod inspired light fixtures, bold patterned wallpaper, a mix of the client’s new and vintage furniture, plus curated textiles and accessories lend the “just right” amount of personality.

Bespoke Blue Library for a lovely cottage near Bristol.
The problem:
The room was going to be their office, it didn’t have much storage and it wasn’t very big. It had a difficult wall nib sticking out behind the door running the length of the wall and the room and had very high ceilings 3.2 metres high. This is precisely why they decided to go bespoke.
The brief:
The clients wanted lots of cabinets and shelves to make a library / bookcase for an awkward wall in a small room. The clients initially wanted ‘L’ shaped cabinets.
Lots of bookshelves, and I mean lots, like a bookcase wall and somewhere to hide office equipment like the printer and phone chargers.
Book shelves needed to be strong so they wouldn’t sag under the weight of the books – this was of utmost importance to the brief, these clients love books and reading.
Adjustable book shelves so they could fit their books exactly and change it up when needed.
The bespoke library was to go right up to the very high ceiling and finish in a cornice.
The cornice needed a particular profile to match their existing furniture.
“It’s better than we imagined it could be” was the first thing they said when they saw it complete!
When we first visited and discussed the design for this bespoke library in Bristol with them, it became obvious that an ‘L’ shape wouldn’t work in the room, so the first draft was to have the shelves and cabinets along one wall.
There were around 5 revisions in the end, until the design was approved. The design was intricate and had to be spot on taking the wall nib and the opening door and latch into account.
The whole bookcase cabinetry was made from solid tulip wood, this is a strong and stable material to take the weight of the books. The cornice was specially commissioned to match the profile of their existing furniture. For the adjustable shelves we used brass bookcase strips.
The bookshelves are all solid English oak from our favourite local supplier a family run business called Interesting Timbers these were all finished in our rollered Osmo oil finish.
Jo hand painted the whole piece, inside and out, it in their choice of colour (Woad’ by Little Greene). Jim installed it to our meticulous standards and the clients were very happy with the results.
We are also delighted with the finished result! Do let us know what you think or get in touch if you would like to discuss your own project.

Recently, a captivating kitchen cabinets project was completed in Lynnwood, showcasing a transitional style that beautifully combines traditional and contemporary elements. The project aimed to create a fresh, timeless aesthetic while incorporating elements of functionality and elegance.
The foundation of the design lies in the choice of a classic white color for both the base and upper cabinets. The shaker-style doors, with their clean lines and recessed paneling, contribute to the overall transitional look. This style choice offers versatility and a sense of sophistication that complements various design preferences.
Adding a touch of contrast and richness to the space, a gray stained solid wood island was incorporated into the kitchen. This island serves as a focal point, anchoring the room while providing additional workspace and storage options. The gray stain adds depth and visual interest to the design, balancing the bright white cabinets with its subtle yet distinct color.
To enhance the overall aesthetic and create a cohesive design, brass handles were selected for the cabinets. These sleek, modern hardware elements contribute to the transitional style by bridging the gap between the traditional and contemporary design elements. The contrasting black color adds an element of sophistication and creates a visual impact against the white cabinetry.#seattlecabinets #transitionaldesign #shakercabinets #whitecabinets #kitchenisland #kitchendesignideas
