Bonus Solution: Slim Storage AFTER: To make up for the lack of counter and storage space. Megan brought in a skinny console table with shelving and added a few whitewashed shelves above it. Now everything is in easy reach, and I have a space to chop, stir, and make my morning café au lait (all of which used to happen on my dining room table).

Homeowner had a very tight space which prevented any furniture or other items from getting into the basement. We tore out the existing railing and rebuilt a new oak railing with a removable system - the railing itself is one unit and can be removed and reinstalled with just nine screws. This new system will allow large furniture and other basement play things to be moved up and down the stairs without having to gut the stair railing.

Embarking on the design journey of Wabi Sabi Refuge, I immersed myself in the profound quest for tranquility and harmony. This project became a testament to the pursuit of a tranquil haven that stirs a deep sense of calm within. Guided by the essence of wabi-sabi, my intention was to curate Wabi Sabi Refuge as a sacred space that nurtures an ethereal atmosphere, summoning a sincere connection with the surrounding world. Deliberate choices of muted hues and minimalist elements foster an environment of uncluttered serenity, encouraging introspection and contemplation. Embracing the innate imperfections and distinctive qualities of the carefully selected materials and objects added an exquisite touch of organic allure, instilling an authentic reverence for the beauty inherent in nature's creations. Wabi Sabi Refuge serves as a sanctuary, an evocative invitation for visitors to embrace the sublime simplicity, find solace in the imperfect, and uncover the profound and tranquil beauty that wabi-sabi unveils.

Various luxury living spaces. Photography by Chuck Williams.com, New construction project working with Iron Gate Builders. This was planned from the framing stage. We selected all the finishes to compliment my clients own taste and personality. My client wanted the designs for furnishings all planned out before completion of the project. After closing we started bringing in all the custom made pieces. My clients house was well planned out!!!

This small kitchen received a big makeover when the room was gutted. The old cabinets were replaced with shaker style full overlay cabinets from Medallion Cabinetry in a white painted finish. Taking the cabinets to the ceiling with crown molding draws the eye up to make the room feel brighter. The BlueStar range and soapstone countertops are a chef's dream, and hidden accessories like roll-out trays, super-susans, and cutlery dividers make meal prep simple. Matt Villano Photography
