Two tiered island's are the perfect way to keep people out of the work zone while being able to stay in the conversation. With a bar sink at standard cabinet height, washing items stays at a comfortable level and doesn't put stress on the body. The trash cabinet is turned sideways to add to the depth of the island and allowing the cabinet to be accessed from all areas of the room/ The higher height cabinets create a more comfortable seating space.

Collaborations with builders on new construction is a favorite part of my job. I love seeing a house go up from the blueprints to the end of the build. It is always a journey filled with a thousand decisions, some creative on-the-spot thinking and yes, usually a few stressful moments. This Naperville project was a collaboration with a local builder and architect. The Kitchen Studio collaborated by completing the cabinetry design and final layout for the entire home.
Access to the back of the house is through the mudroom which is outfitted with just about every possible storage feature you can think of for a mudroom. For starters, the basics – a locker for each family member. In addition to that, there is an entire cabinet with roll outs devoted just to shoes, one for cleaning supplies and one for extra coats. The room also features a small clean up sink as well as a set of refrigerator drawers making grabbing a Gatorade on the way to soccer practice a piece of cake.
If you are building a new home, The Kitchen Studio can offer expert help to make the most of your new construction home. We provide the expertise needed to ensure that you are getting the most of your investment when it comes to cabinetry, design and storage solutions. Give us a call if you would like to find out more!

The homeowners wanted a rustic country kitchen and the knotted alder cabinets with the oil rubbed brass handles made that idea come true.
The alder has a clear satin finish to had a little sheen but still show the detail of the wood.

This custom estate was built on a beautiful 12 acre lot just outside the city of Frederick, MD. This was a custom home with an extra large 2 car detached garage. The home is 2000 square feet all on one level with a walk out basement. It has a large composite deck with an attached covered screened in porch. The screened in porch will be the first place to go from a busy day at work to take in the beauty of the mountains and let the stress melt away. The charcoal gray exterior turned out beautiful with the stone selection. It all fits very well on top of the mountain.

Staged for the next level- Upon retirement everything on the shelving will be purged and the bins in back will be moved to the shelving. The items under the stairwell the client chose to sort through at a later date which on a project of this magnitude is perfectly fine. We don't "make" folks do it all but rather go at their pace and what is most comfortable and less stressful for them. I must say they did a phenomenal job with the amount of decisions that had to be made and it's only going to get better!

This kitchen, with its breathtaking view of Walker Point in Kennebunkport, ME, is an escape from the monotony of everyday life. White walls, a neutral backsplash and a light countertop keep this traditional kitchen bright and airy. Rich, full overlay walnut cabinetry, finished in Cocoa, add interest and depth to the space. The Vogue door used with the perimeter cabinetry gives the space a certain understated elegance.
The kitchen island, finished in dove white with 3˝ vogue doors on maple, contrast nicely with the rest of the kitchen. Deep, full-extension drawers in the end of the island, hold pots, pans and other cookware and are accessible any time they are needed. The island is a prime work station, but with a beautiful walnut countertop extension, it also doubles as a great spot to entertain guests.
Not only does this traditional kitchen have just the right amount of work stations and ample room for family and friends, but it also has glass front cabinets with x-front mullion for displaying fine glassware and china. Though serene, this kitchen doesn't sacrifice style. It is a blissful escape from the everyday pressures and stresses of life, found right inside the comfort of home.

Concrete can be made to look like any substance. Tile, stone, wood, brick, etc. With unlimited color options, Ky-Kan Coatings can transform any room in your home or business using lightweight, beautiful concrete.

For a lakeside retreat, the bar’s lower level location is an integral part of outdoor entertaining. Custom cabinetry and floating shelves provide storage for everything necessary to make entertaining stress free.

Photo by John Rippons. A home office that is sure to keep the stress levels under control. With driftwood tones throughout, we sought to incorporate and not distract from the view. During the renovation, we added the ceiling details and additional windows to expand the view. The owners extensive collection of golf memorabilia adorns the walls and the shelves.
