A quick DIY update for a 40's vintage bathroom: Paint walls black to match tile trim, replace outdated faucet with new American Standard retro faucet and 3-handle tub/shower faucet, add small round magnifying mirror to medicine cabinet, use an inexpensive Target toile shower curtain and black bath mat, add white wood venetian blinds.
