This photo was taken from inside the chapel, looking towards the new master bedroom doorway. The old entrance was located right between the two highback chairs in the hallway. We struggled with just how to finish the opening around the bedroom door because we wanted to highlight the very unusual wall finish in the chapel. Architect Martina Lorey came up with the brilliant solution of reducing the door jamb to half its width, then creating a bullnose effect in the plaster that would wrap around the door opening. It was difficult to match the existing finish, but it was a fantastic addition to the project...the proverbial "icing on the cake" if you will. The decision to keep the original cabinet boxes meant simply replacing the cabinet drawers and drawer fronts for a refreshing transformation. The porcelain tile floor has the unmistakable look of brick without the struggle to keep it clean. New appliances, stylish range hood, and a new cabinet box for the refrigerator. A custom island located in the original dining nook satisfies the client's number one request, providing a place to drink wine and make cookies.

Previously renovated with a two-story addition in the 80’s, the home’s square footage had been increased, but the current homeowners struggled to integrate the old with the new. An oversized fireplace and awkward jogged walls added to the challenges on the main floor, along with dated finishes. While on the second floor, a poorly configured layout was not functional for this expanding family. From the front entrance, we can see the fireplace was removed between the living room and dining rooms, creating greater sight lines and allowing for more traditional archways between rooms. At the back of the home, we created a new mudroom area, and updated the kitchen with custom two-tone millwork, countertops and finishes. These main floor changes work together to create a home more reflective of the homeowners’ tastes. On the second floor, the master suite was relocated and now features a beautiful custom ensuite, walk-in closet and convenient adjacency to the new laundry room. Gordon King Photography

Meghan’s office presented a lot of opportunities for artwork, and a variety of it! It was an exciting challenge; one that we took in stride, as searched high and low for the perfect pieces. The hardest part about our search was finding large enough pieces of art to fill each wall. The gallery wall came about admist this struggle. Inspired by the water color prints from Meghan’s previous office, we decided to combine those with a variety of graphic prints in wood frames mixed in with photographs and sculptural pieces here and there.
