The Owners of this boathouse on Lake Rosseau approached us to modify the existing structure. Classic Muskoka Homes prepared a Fixed-Price proposal for the construction of a new sloped roof structure for the existing boathouse which had an existing flat roof. Work got underway with demolition & framing work on the roof structure. Upon investigation, it was determined that water ingress had caused damage to a wall and dock stringer timber along the boathouse's South wall. Port Sandfield Dockworks Incorporated performed repair work on the dock. We subsequently repaired the rotted wall framing in boathouse South wall. New shingle roofing, board & batten siding, aluminum soffit & fascia were installed to integrate a fresh look for the boathouse. This boathouse building project was completed within approximately one (1) month in 2013.

Subsequent updates in the primary bathroom centered around aesthetics. In the main bath area, the sinks, faucets, and countertop in the vanity were replaced with elegant venetian gold granite. A new large, framed mirror, two towel rings, and fresh light fixtures were also added. Cabinets received a makeover, painted in a timeless off-white shade, while dated cabinet knobs were swapped with new ones that harmonized with the overall look of the bathroom. In addition, we replaced the toilet, exhaust fan, and light fixture in the water closet. We replaced all the flooring in the main bath area, water closet, and closet and treated all the walls, ceilings, doors, and trim to fresh coats of paint. Walls were adorned with a tasteful beige hue, while trim and doors were finished in pristine bright white.

“The Vatican Museums double helix spiral staircase”… This modern double helix staircase is located in the Vatican Museum, and commonly referred to as the "Bramante Staircase" after the original architect who built the first staircase in 1505. It is unlikely that the Vatican realized, when it commissioned Giuseppe Momo to build a staircase in 1932, that it would become one of the most photographed pieces in a museum that boasts 9 miles of art. The Spiral Staircase, also called the Momo Staircase or the Snail Staircase, is made up of two wrought iron stairways – one going up, one going down – that curve in a double helix. Ironically, it was created in a time before the double helix became a symbol for science, DNA, and subsequently, all human life. While the staircase was once walked by every visitor to the Vatican Museum on their way in, it is no longer on the route and closed to the public. Fortunately, my Roman tour guide, once again speaking with the guards, allowed me under the ropes to take a rare image without visitors present.

The Chatsworth Residence was a complete renovation of a 1950's suburban Dallas ranch home. From the offset of this project, the owner intended for this to be a real estate investment property, and subsequently contracted David to develop a design design that would appeal to a broad rental market and to lead the renovation project. The scope of the renovation to this residence included a semi-gut down to the studs, new roof, new HVAC system, new kitchen, new laundry area, and a full rehabilitation of the property.
