Soake Pool project complete! This is one of our favorites. The customer had a super tight space with a walk out patio that was about 4' above ground. Pool was installed above ground and a wood deck was built up to and around it. Great use of space and super appealing!

Find the right local pro for your project

You open your kitchen cabinet. It's a mess. An endless abyss.
You're looking for olive oil to sauté delicious garlic and onions for dinner.
You know you have it. Where could it be?
Cooking your favorite family meal can take longer than the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade without organization to find what you need.
That's what happened each & every time one of our recent Baton Rouge clients, Jan, tried to cook a meal in her home.
Searching For A Pantry Solution
Jan and her family moved into their new home in 2017 despite not having a pantry. Knowing they needed one desperately, Jan wondered if a pantry could fit in their vast laundry room.
Instead of trying the DIY route, Jan wanted professional help to get it done right.
Jan saw an Inspired Closets sign on the lawn of a home in her neighborhood. She decided to visit their showroom to meet with our expert designer, Felicity.
After Jan shared her vision of what they wanted in a pantry, Felicity got to work! She created a custom design accomplishing everything Jan wanted. So there was never a need to shop around for other companies.
Let The Fun Begin: The Design & Construction Process
Jan thought the process was terrific. Much easier than they thought it would be. The 3D rendering of the project allowed them to see their dream space before installation began.
And, during the process, Jan realized she wanted to expand the project by redoing the laundry room as well!
Jan said, "I was able to make a few tweaks until it was perfect."
Felicity had a contractor she worked with closely. Together they handled it all, making it super easy for them with no mess or stress left behind.
A True Eye-Opening Experience: Make Getting The Ingredients The Easiest Part
"The functionality was the best part," says Jan. Finally, her family could see everything.
Inspired Closets put everything in plain sight by creating:
- clear acrylic snap drawers to see everything
- sliding pull-out drawers for canned goods
- a produce pull-out drawer
- a basket for chips and snacks that the kids loved
- a lazy Susan that holds vinegar, oils, and bottled items
Felicity maximized every inch of space in the design. Jan and her family were amazed the room had a wide-open feel, even with all the items in the room. The area was functional and beautiful.
Saving Time, Money, And Stress
But it wasn’t just pretty to look at. Now that everything is more accessible in her pantry, making a grocery list is a cinch. Jan found herself saving money by not buying things she already owned but simply couldn’t see.
"I love how the kids can find things so quickly. We never have to guess where stuff is, making daily life easier," Jan says.
Another Happy Ending
Jan’s family could not be more satisfied with their reimagined space, telling everyone they know not to be overwhelmed when considering a new project.
Let us help get rid of the mess and stress in your pantry or laundry space like we did for Jan!
Whether you’re embarking on your new construction, forever home, or a renovation to make life better, just imagine how we can help you create your dream come true.

Example of a trendy girl carpeted kids' room design in Miami with white walls

This LEED Platinum certified house reflects the homeowner's desire for an exceptionally healthy and comfortable living environment, within a traditional neighborhood.
INFILL SITE. The family, who moved from another area of Wellesley, sought out this property to be within walking distance of the high school and downtown area. An existing structure on the tight lot was removed to make way for the new home. 84% of the construction waste, from both the previous structure and the new home, was diverted from a landfill. ZED designed to preserve the existing mature trees on the perimeter of the property to minimize site impacts, and to maintain the character of the neighborhood as well as privacy on the site.
EXTERIOR EXPRESSION. The street facade of the home relates to the local New England vernacular. The rear uses contemporary language, a nod to the family’s Californian roots, to incorporate a roof deck, solar panels, outdoor living space, and the backyard swimming pool. ZED’s careful planning avoided to the need to face the garage doors towards the street, a common syndrome of a narrow lot.
THOUGHTFUL SPACE. Homes with dual entries can often result in duplicate and unused spaces. In this home, the everyday and formal entry areas are one and the same; the front and garage doors share the entry program of coat closets, mudroom storage with bench for removing your shoes, and a laundry room with generous closets for the children's sporting equipment. The entry area leads directly to the living space, encompassing the kitchen, dining and sitting area areas in an L-shaped open plan arrangement. The kitchen is placed at the south-west corner of the space to allow for a strong connection to the dining, sitting and outdoor living spaces. A fire pit on the deck satisfies the family’s desire for an open flame while a sealed gas fireplace is used indoors - ZED’s preference after omitting gas burning appliances completely from an airtight home. A small study, with a window seat, is conveniently located just off of the living space. A first floor guest bedroom includes an accessible bathroom for aging visitors and can be used as a master suite to accommodate aging in place.
HEALTHY LIVING. The client requested a home that was easy to clean and would provide a respite from seasonal allergies and common contaminants that are found in many indoor spaces. ZED selected easy to clean solid surface flooring throughout, provided ample space for cleaning supplies on each floor, and designed a mechanical system with ventilation that provides a constant supply of fresh outdoor air. ZED selected durable materials, finishes, cabinetry, and casework with low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and no added urea formaldehyde.
YEAR-ROUND COMFORT. The home is super insulated and air-tight, paired with high performance triple-paned windows, to ensure it is draft-free throughout the winter (even when in front of the large windows and doors). ZED designed a right-sized heating and cooling system to pair with the thermally improved building enclosure to ensure year-round comfort. The glazing on the home maximizes passive solar gains, and facilitates cross ventilation and daylighting.
ENERGY EFFICIENT. As one of the most energy efficient houses built to date in Wellesley, the home highlights a practical solution for Massachusetts. First, the building enclosure reduces the largest energy requirement for typical houses (heating). Super-insulation, exceptional air sealing, a thermally broken wall assembly, triple pane windows, and passive solar gain combine for a sizable heating load reduction. Second, within the house only efficient systems consume energy. These include an air source heat pump for heating & cooling, a heat pump hot water heater, LED lighting, energy recovery ventilation, and high efficiency appliances. Lastly, photovoltaics provide renewable energy help offset energy consumption. The result is an 89% reduction in energy use compared to a similar brand new home built to code requirements.
RESILIENT. The home will fare well in extreme weather events. During a winter power outage, heat loss will be very slow due to the super-insulated and airtight envelope– taking multiple days to drop to 60 degrees even with no heat source. An engineered drainage system, paired with careful the detailing of the foundation, will help to keep the finished basement dry. A generator will provide full operation of the all-electric house during a power outage.
OVERALL. The home is a reflection of the family goals and an expression of their values, beautifully enabling health, comfort, safety, resilience, and utility, all while respecting the planet.

This Mediterranean-inspired kitchen blends warm wood cabinetry, natural stone accents, and hand-crafted architectural details to create a space rich in texture and Old-World charm. The custom cabinets feature deep, luxurious stain tones that pair beautifully with the stone hood surround and arched cooking niche—signature elements often found in high-end Mediterranean kitchen design. Wide-plank flooring and softly curved ceiling lines add warmth and authenticity, making the kitchen feel inviting and timeless.
A large center island anchors the layout, offering both prep space and comfortable seating for casual dining. Decorative corbels, carved posts, and wrought-iron touches elevate the handcrafted aesthetic while modern appliances blend seamlessly into the design. This luxury Mediterranean kitchen remodel balances elegance and functionality, giving homeowners a warm, character-filled space perfect for entertaining, cooking, and gathering.

We love this rustic-modern Houston patio addition with an outdoor kitchen and double pergola!
It not only made the most of a long, narrow space while satisfying strict homeowners association rules, but did so affordably in a warm, timeless style.
“The client really enjoys outdoor living, but had a specific budget they wanted to meet,” explains Outdoor Homescapes owner Wayne Franks. “They also live on a golf course and had to meet particular HOA requirements.”
The HOA requirements restricted how far back the new 450-square-foot patio and pergola could extend back into the yard. The HOA also wanted to make sure the patio’s colors and materials matched the existing home and others around it.
“We chose colors and materials that offered texture and character, but that would go with just about anything around it,” says Wayne. “We found what we were looking for in the Fantastico travertine and Austin limestone – two materials clients love and just can’t go wrong with.”
The Austin limestone facing the 8-foot-square, L-shaped kitchen island is dry-stacked in a castle pattern for a naturalistic, rustic look. Yet its light, neutral color keeps the style fresh and modern.
Adding to the modern look are the stainless steel appliances: an RCS 30-inch stainless steel grill, double burner and outdoor fridge. Even though the finishes on the sink and light fixtures (Hunter pendant lamps and Hampton Bay light/fan combos) have a different finish – oil-rubbed-bronze – this actually follows the recent trend of mixing different metals, materials and finishes.
“The look’s not so matchy-matchy anymore,” explains Wayne. “Mixing it up makes it look more authentic and personalized.”
That’s why backsplashes like the one in this project – done in glass and metal mosaic – are also becoming more popular than traditional ceramic tile.
Another recent trend can be seen here, too – an amping up of color variation and texture.
“In addition to the split-face texture of the rock, you can definitely see the bold color variation in the travertine,” says Wayne.
The flooring is a Fantastico travertine, laid out in a Versailles pattern. “The Fantastico tile is killer,” says Wayne. “The warm reds go great with red brick, which we have a lot of around here.”
The countertop with the rounded, raised bar at the end is English walnut travertine.
The red bar stools also add a pop of exciting color that contrasts nicely with the greenery around the patio.
The double pergola, continues Wayne, is No. 2 pine stained a Minwax honey-gold. One side of the pergola – the side over the seating area – is covered with Lexan, a clear material that keeps out rain, heat and UV rays.
The pergola also juts further into the yard on that side. “It’s called a scallop, and it just lends some visual interest,” explains Wayne. “It prevents the pergola from just looking like one big rectangular hunk of wood.”
Wayne particularly likes how everything blended so well with the brick – which was a big concern – yet didn’t come off as too neutral or boring.
“The Fantastico travertine and red chairs do an excellent job of pulling the red from the brick and working with the warmth of that color to make a super-inviting space,” says Wayne. “We’re really pleased with how it all ties together so well.”
