In the living room, a massive black Venetian glass chandelier suspends dramatically from a 12-foot tray ceiling, offset by detailed triple-crown molding. Custom wall molding adds texture to charcoal gray walls.
Black granite frames the ventless fireplace, where black fire glass is used to conceal the gas plumbing lines.
A flat screen television and integrated speakers are among several devices comprising a home automation system that wirelessly controls technology by a wall-mounted iPad or any smartphone.
A long modular sofa with custom silk pillows anchors the living room seating arrangement, which is flanked by low-profile lounge chairs and a heavy slatted metal coffee table atop a large cowhide rug.
Metal nesting tables and porcelain garden stools quickly double as extra seating.
Louisiana artist Joseph “Jojo” Jilbert was commissioned to create a custom sculpture for the living room. Towering at more than eight feet, “Nebulas 1” is forged from fire in his signature style using reclaimed metal objects. The welded creation is modeled after the famed Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula, where light and heat from young stars create columns that are trillions of miles long. The sculpture is burnished to a deep patina and engraved with intricate scrollwork. Large Fiddle Leaf Fig ficuses bring color and texture to the opposing corner, offering a natural foil to the spiny details of the artwork.

Living room - transitional medium tone wood floor, brown floor and tray ceiling living room idea in San Francisco with white walls, a standard fireplace, a tile fireplace and a wall-mounted tv

The clients were looking for a modern, rustic ski lodge look that was chic and beautiful while being family-friendly and a great vacation home for the holidays and ski trips. Our goal was to create something family-friendly that had all the nostalgic warmth and hallmarks of a mountain house, while still being modern, sophisticated, and functional as a true ski-in and ski-out house.
To achieve the look our client wanted, we focused on the great room and made sure it cleared all views into the valley. We drew attention to the hearth by installing a glass-back fireplace, which allows guests to see through to the master bedroom. The decor is rustic and nature-inspired, lots of leather, wood, bone elements, etc., but it's tied together will sleek, modern elements like the blue velvet armchair.

This home is a true gem in the heart of MacGregor Downs community in Cary, NC. Built in the 1980's in true Modernist design and architecture, the new owners wanted to keep the integrity of the original design. We redesigned the Half Bath, created floor plan layouts for new furniture, spec'd out furniture, accessories, flooring material, lighting, and artwork, as well as worked on brightening the wall and ceiling paint colors. One challenge we faced during the design process were the very tall ceilings, the very wide walls, and unusual angles. We chose interesting , engaging, and minimalistic artwork for the walls, which proved a successful solution. Another challenge was having a large open angled living room space; we created the perfect layout with separate functional gathering areas and eliminated unused corners.

The tropical open design in the living room was created with pocketing glass doors that open to the lanai and beautiful pool. The use of natural tropical hardwood flooring bring warmth and color into the home while the white walls sooth your senses making the room feel light and open. Traditional Hawaiian canoe paddles hang on either side of the kitchen pass through, the custom pillows are a mix of tropical green and pink fabrics, keeping the sophisticated living room from getting too serious.

The house was built in the early nineties and came with a lowered ceiling in the kitchen which made the space feel small for the size of the house. We worked with the homeowner to plan some changes and come to a new design. The 7 ft. tall lowered ceiling was removed as well as a portion wall between the kitchen and dining room to create a more spacious and open feel. We reconfigured the kitchen cabinet layout to maximize storage and update the feel of the kitchen. The crown molding original to the house was continued from the dining room and run through the kitchen and dining room to create some continuity between the rooms and an elevated element to the cabinets.
Taj Mahal Quartzite countertops were chosen to compliment the Swiss Coffee off-white wall paint. The moldings and upper cabinets were also painted with Swiss Coffee color of paint furthering continuity in the space.
A fully ducted ventilation hood was added to above a new professional size gas range.

On the same hall is the Laundry/Utility room. Beyond the laundry function, it houses items for the family pet, including storage of leashes, food, etc. and a sleeping space.
The interior Dutch door to the room allows for temporary--but friendly--containment of the sometimes overly-enthusiastic pooch.
The side door leads to an exterior porch, and either the back yard or the street.
