The Rockview Interior floor project was where Tom Ralston Concrete developed a special technique to fashion concrete to look like ocean shelves and craggy ocean cliffs. Because of its fanfare the Rockview House has been used again and again for Architectural Tours as well as being used to host special events. The Rockview concrete won a National Award for best specialty finish in Las Vegas at the World of Concrete in 2011. The floors are a unique blend of aquarium sand, beach glass, sea shells, and multiple acid stains. The National recognition from the Rockview project served to bring international work to Tom Ralston Concrete. Similar floors were constructed in Boca Del Toro, a small island off the coast of Panama on the Caribbean Sea.

Metrie True Craft Interior Door - Designer: Donna Guerra, ASID
Dallas, Texas, USA
This room invokes a cozy, rustic feel with the beautiful look of vertical grain Fir from the True Craft Scene III elements. Large, wedge-shaped mouldings create a unique style around the room, including the crafting of the fireplace treatment. The custom oil finish was applied using a dry brush technique which highlights the Fir’s natural graining. The chair rail installed vertically, creates a unique wainscot that draws in your gaze.
Finishing Details
Gray finish uses a "white" oil and a dry brush gray stain technique
Panel Moulding and inverted baseboard were layered together to form header over barn door hardware
Doors painted in a grey satin finish with a muted green undertone
The warmth and honesty of authentic, utilitarian design. There’s nothing quite like the aesthetic created by the Craftsman, Mission and Prairie Style movements. Simple, linear, direct. Use these elements as the setting to create a Southwest Style with sun-washed tones. Go Mountain Modern by dry brushing a cool grey stain. Create a mid-century Bungalow feel by letting the Fir grain show through a warm whitewashed paint. So many places to land when you start here.

Scheurer Architects and Keller Homes designed a beautiful, award-winning community on a mountainous site located just outside Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their goal was to create something special by presenting fresh, new site plans within the local housing market while remaining sensitive to the traditions and benefits of rustic, mountain living. In order to remain true to the area in which the property is located, they made a joint effort to maintain the simple warmth and agricultural base found in the surrounding communities.
Three unique floor plans and living space designs were developed and had an average 2,667 square feet in size, with 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms and full basements. There was a focus on indoor and outdoor living, reminiscent of historic village homes that were organized in clusters to maximize space, preserve views, and encourage spending time in nature.
Since the land was originally occupied by a dairy farm, the dynamic teams found existing stone on an old barn as well as retaining walls and wanted to incorporate these old stones into their new design. However, that meant that they needed to find just the right stone for the homes in an effort to blend the existing stone not only with the new stone, but also with stone that was being used for landscaping purposes. Eldorado’s blend of Fieldledge and Hillstone combined with the custom overgrout technique added the authenticity that the project called for.

resh and modern, this reworking of a narrow upstairs bathroom made it feel much bigger, brighter, and cleaner. The dividing wall between the tub/shower and the commode was chopped to waist height, bringing in lots of natural light. Large tiles, a graphite-colored custom double sink, and a natural-wood sliding door are elegant choices to further flatter the space.
Another bathroom in the home was updated with a sleek and original approach. The glass shower stall opened things up, ensuring a bright, contemporary space. Details such as trapezoid-shaped glass tiles, a custom poured-concrete shower pan, and a wooden drainboard add interest. The handsome wood vanity holds a vessel sink wth a contrasting custom counter, with plenty of storage below.
The unique geometric shape of the shower tiles creates extra interest, while the wooden shower drain insert adds a touch of rustic warmth. This technique eliminates the need to mar this lovely slab stone shower floor with an ugly drain!
