A tired 1980's Kitchen in a New England center hall colonail had done it's job, and seen it's day! Old honey oak cabinetry, soffits, laminate counters, and waverly wallpaper were on the list to go and not return! The homeowners have been looking forward to retirement in the next 5-10 years, and reconginzed the Kitchen was in dire need of rennovation and updating in order to sell this home. With a tighter than usual budget in mind, the design challange was to update the space so that it felt welcoming, cozy, open, airy and more modernized.

In some tighter spaces is staircase is required to step up quickly within a small distance. Keeping the design interesting and still meeting these requirements can often be a challenge. The geometrical twists included in this stair make it an interesting focal point of this loft style condo.

I was asked to design a new family home, for a lot that is third row back from the beach. As you can see the lot had numerous trees, all leaning in various directions, had to be accounted for. Besides the neighborhood restrictions the town, imposes even tighter guidelines on the mass and size of the building. The collaberation with my client has ended up with thise lovely new home, just waiting for memories to be made. Hee we can see the covered front porch with an open air second porch above. To help with the efficiency of the floor plan, due to site limitation, that fromt entry door is tucked around on the left side of the home. We wanted a the home to have a "beachy" vibe to the architecture style. I incorporated a number of "low country architectural" design elements to provide the beach cottage feel. We used NuCedar shingle siding for ease of maintance and Hardie trim, for the some reason. The home owner choose a bronze standing seam metal roof to compliment the soft grey shingle color.

The new Crestline solid collection has a traditional hardwood look with wire brushed texture, handcrafted edges, and sculpted profile creating more visual interest on the wide 5″ surface. This is an example of what we can do for those who don't have acres of kitchen to work with. This space was a little tighter and narrower than many of the kitchens we show in our portfolio. The real challenge in kitchen design is to try and achieve maximum storage and functionality when space is limited. Creating a nice aesthetic when you have unlimited options and space is relatively easy to do. We're very proud of this "simple" project, because we know that the use of space has been improved tremendously. Plus, it looks fantastic!!!

From the get-go, we knew this project was on a tight budget and a tighter timeline. The construction was set to begin the same week the clients approached us, but we rose to the challenge! The new design has a larger curbless shower; the toilet was moved, creating space for a larger vanity with a warm wood finish that complements the cool white and teal tiles. We selected matt black hardware, plumbing, and light fixtures. The new floorplan makes the bathroom more functional, spacious, safe, well-lit, and modern. Overall, the new bathroom highlights the beautiful hexagonal tile, which transitions across the entire room, and onto the shower walls. The project finished on time, within budget, and is functional and aesthetically pleasing!
